Chapter 78 - (A3) A Walk On The Beach

It was almost night. The sun had completely set. The town looked as lively as ever. For some reason, everyone looked....free.

There were street lights in every street and it lit up, all at the same time. It was revealed to them, that Sachika was the local tinkerer. She had gone around making light bulbs using materials from her Dome. Max realised that she was actually insanely smart too, and an inventor. She had apparently, loved making machines ever since she was a kid. She had also reverse engineered the Telivision back in her house, completely alone in this new world. It was pretty impressive.

Soon enough, after dinner, the entire gang split up. They were in two groups now.

Max wanted to go to the lighthouse in the edge of the beach. It was a long walk, but he wanted to meet the old lady, that called him the 'Silent Angel'. Albert and Hershel agreed to accompany him. Albert just wanted to follow Max around as books didn't really excite him, since he wouldn't read. And Max wanted Hershel to take records of the places around them, so that they can use the information when or if needed.

David on the other hand decided to help Lin, Melissa and Chuck to the library. The latter two extremely excited for the library. Lin was their acting bodyguard and felt pretty down on himself. They were heading to the centre of the town.

David: You not coming??

Sachika: It's fine! You carry on!! I have so many stuff I wanna learn watching Hershel.

David: Fine...take care, see you soon. Max, look after her!

Max: Okay dokey!!

Max did a small salute signifying his semi promise. Sachika smiled and waved at their group and they started on their journey. Sachika started chatting away with Hershel showing him strange metallic gloves from her bag. Meanwhile Max and Albert walked ahead at the beach and it was a much quieter walk.

Max: So....

Albert: Ya....

Max: You know....you really suck at having conversations.

Albert: I talk only when I have to.

Max: That you do...

And it was quiet again. Max found it incredibly awkward but he knew Albert meant well. He occasionally turned back to see if Sachika and Hershel are following them. It was his first order from his brother after a long time. So Max was being protective.

As they neared the lighthouse, Max felt an eerie chill run down his spine. Goosebumps erected themselves on his neck. It was a weird but ghastly feeling. He noticed the pitch black lighthouse walls made of stone, filled with moss and vines. It was an ancient artifact of history. As Max walked, he noticed something.

Far ahead, away from the lighthouse was a huge rock. A flat rock leading into the ocean, almost like a half made and abandoned bridge. The waves crashed onto the huge rock, but the rock stood strong. And Max noticed a man standing on top of it.

Max: Um...HELOO???

Max raised his arms and jumped at the man. He was scared that the man would drown as the waves near the rock reached incredible heights. He feared for the man's safety.

Max: Heyy! Can you get down from there..??

Albert raised his eyebrow under the blindfold. He walked upto Max and stared at the huge rock. The boulder that stood as the waves tried breaking it.

But no matter what Max said, the man didn't care. He just stood there, unmoving. As Max used the power of his eyes, he started seeing the man clearly. He was facing away from Max, so all the blue eyed hero could see was the man's extremely muscular back. He was tall and had huge silver hair flowing back like a river. He wore brown, worn down pants, and stood as if he wasn't afraid of the waves.

Max slowly jogged up to him, with Albert right on his track. Even Sachika and Hershel noticed them. As Max neared, he stopped.

The unmoving man moved. Suddenly out of nowhere, wings sprout out from his proud back and feathers flew everywhere. Huge wings and he almost looked like an angel. Slowly the man turned his head, to reveal an extremely handsome man, in his early twenties. He had a blank expression, but it scared Max. As the man, had glowing blue-ringed eyes too.

Max: What the-!!!

Suddenly Albert stopped him. He grabbed his arm and pulled him back.

Albert: Where were you going Max???

Sachika: Yeah...why did you start running...

Sachika had caught up to them, just by running as fast as she could and was huffing and puffing.

Max: What do you mean why?? To save that man on the rock!!

Max turned to the rock again but then his eyes widened. He then turned back to his gang.

Max: Where...where did he go?

Albert: Again....who are you talking about??? There was no man there, from the beginning!
