Chapter 79 - (A3) The Lighthouse

Max had seen haunting films with a lighthouse as the setting. And he didn't do well with horror. But the place they were at was already creepy. The four of them stood in front of the huge wooden door. It was almost most, filled with algae. It gave him the heebie-jeebies, just by thinking about touching them.

Max slowly turned to Albert and smiled at him, albeit nervously.

Max: After you....

He pointed at the door and sighed. Albert understood what he meant and walked towards the door. Albert opened the door as it creaked under pressure and went in. It was fairly dark compared to the other side of the tower, thanks to torches being lit on the end.

Albert: Let's go..

Max nodded in response and slowly followed him. Sachika had her hands in her pocket and simply followed them. Hershel on the other hand, was blinking fast, and sounds resembling that of a camera made it out of him. He apparently was taking photographs, just like Max wished he would. A complete study of their new surroundings.

The gang reached the corner of the stairs and Albert immediately started his ascension. Max and Sachika followed suit. But then they immediately turned to look at Hershel, who had stiff metallic legs and wheels in his foot. That was extremely impossible for him to climb up.

Sachika: You okay? How will you come up?

Hershel: No worries there, Miss Sachika..

There were two slits on either sides of both legs in Hershel's body. Tiny, but long rods popped out and grabbed the next step in the staircase. Slowly it propelled his entire body to the next step and repeated the process.

Sachika: Okay...that is....slow. Why didn't they just give you moving legs?

Hershel: I don't know.

Max realised that he had never seen Hershel climb up the stairs even in the Dome. There was always a separate way for him to "skate" on upward. And now, even though it was slow, they all climbed upward. The tower's staircase was a huge spiral, going on and on. The walls had small torches, barely lighting the path, but enough for them to notice. Even if the light did go away, Albert and Hershel would be perfectly fine, as their eyesight was not technically "human".

Suddenly out of nowhere they heard a creepy laughter, belonging to an old woman, resembling that of a witch, that could appear in horror films. Since it was out of nowhere, it completely took Max by surprise and startled him. He shrieked in a girly voice in a high pitch, as he hated the vibes of this old lighthouse enough already.

Sachika: Oh my God!!! Dave was right! You really hate scary stuff!!

Max: Sh-shut u-u-up!!

Max was still shook but he looked up, there was still nothing in front of his eyes. He slowly started shivering, but didn't know if it was due to fear or the fact that it was very cold in there.

Albert: I sense her. She is above us....she is about the same height as the old woman we met back then, so I presume it's her. She is alone too..

Albert immediately sensed her as he was in range and gave all the Intel to Max. And since he was assured that it was just the old woman and a ghost, he knees became stiff again.

Max: Oh! That lady??!?! I still have a LOT OF THINGS to say to her....and now she just terrified me too!! She is gonna pay.

Sachika: Isn't that kind of your fault? Being such a wimp?

Max: I'm not a wimp!! And she will see what I can do!!

Albert: Are you really gonna try to fight a granny??

Max just marched on ahead, pushing Albert to the side. He was embarrased but he knew he had to set the record straight with the lady. Albert and Sachika, followed their "leader", with the same pace, leaving the slow, poor robot alone.

Hershel: Yaa....don't worry about me...I'll be up.....soon.....

And Hershel climbed the stairs all in his lonesome.

Max reached the top of the lighthouse, which was a tiny room, but it was filled with a lot of druig stuff, giving off a vibe of a witch. In front of him was the same old grandma who just stood on the opposite side of the room, snickering at him.

Granny: Took you long enough!

Max: Did you HAVE to laugh back then, with that creep voice??

Sachika: Again...why are you so focused on that??

Albert: You were the one who wanted to get here...

Albert sensed for others in the room, but realised that she was completely alone. There was a tiny window in the corner too, looking towards the beach. And the entire room was filled with a lot of tarot cards and paintings. There was a tiny bed in the corner, and a hatch in the roof, leading to the light in the lighthouse.

Sachika: I've never been here...this is so cool....and I've heard of the stupid grandma, that opened her shop in an abandoned lighthouse....so that was you!!!?

Granny: Well...I did open one here...but I ain't stupid young lady...I'm like..two thousand years old!!

Max raised his eyebrow. But it didn't make sense, as even he from the old world was just 1800 years old. Even if she was from the old era, her living for 200 years was impossible..

Albert: What do you mean??

Granny ignored the blindfolded man and looked at the blue eyed God.

Granny: You saw him...didn't you?

Max: Saw who..?

Granny: The other blue eyed angel!!

The grandma snickered at him. And Max was blown away. He did see the angel like man with wings on the beach, but Albert stated he sensed no one. Even Sachika said she could see no one there, from the beginning. Hershel also stated his cameras didn't pick up anything. After five minutes of back and forth, they decided to dismiss it and enter the lighthouse for the time being.

Max: How- ....Why do you know that...??

Granny just laughed out loud. She then smiled at him.

Granny: Can I tell you a secret??

Max raised his eyebrow, as she put her palm at her chest, declaring something.

Granny: I am Knightley....and I am an Ameliorate!!
