Chapter 116 — Lin Yun: Take My Fist?
Surrounded by Bing Di, Di Tian, and the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, Lin Yun calmly recounted everything he knew.
"The reason the Dragon God went mad is simple," Lin Yun explained. "He touched the threshold of the Creator's realm and tried to break through. The result? He failed—so he went insane."
The Dragon God's madness was no different from a cultivator's deviation during breakthrough. Perhaps it was also because his mind wasn't quite right to begin with. After all, what kind of sane being splits itself into parts that are violent and kind, gentle and cruel, brainless and infatuated—all at once?
Still, though the Dragon God failed, it wasn't a total failure.
After all, the Nine Dragon Kings were all God-King level beings. Beyond them, the Five Great God-Kings of the Divine Realm were equally powerful, not to mention the countless other deities. The Dragon God's record already rivaled that of Electrolux.
Electrolux had single-handedly overturned the entire Saint-Magic Continent. If the Dragon God hadn't regained lucidity at the last moment—allowing the Asura God to split him into two halves—he might well have plowed the entire Divine Realm from south to north.
A pity—his brain just couldn't keep up.
"Even in failure, he likely retained a portion of that realm's power," Lin Yun continued. "Otherwise, he couldn't have beaten all of you so easily. At my peak, I could chase God-Kings like frightened dogs—and I'm only half of the Dragon God. Ordinary God-Kings could never reach that level."
"I see… so he went mad trying to reach the Creator's realm," the Fire Dragon King muttered, nodding slowly.
"Tch, weaklings always find excuses," the Ice Dragon King scoffed, curling her lips. "Too weak and too playful—ended up killing himself and dragging us with him. That old dragon was a walking disaster!"
"He's not dead yet," Lin Yun corrected calmly.
"What?! Not dead?!" the Ice Dragon King's eyes flared, instantly igniting with fury. "Where is that old fool? Tell me—I'll go finish him myself!"
"That bastard slaughtered us, and I thought he'd joined us in the afterlife! Turns out he's been hiding somewhere like a coward?!"
"Wife, wife—calm down!" the Fire Dragon King hurriedly wrapped his arms around her, trying to soothe her rage.
Lin Yun tilted his head, finding the scene rather absurd.
Had their attributes been switched somehow? The Fire Dragon King acted calm and steady, while the Ice Dragon King was a living firecracker.
Noticing Lin Yun's strange look, both Dragon Kings flushed slightly. The Ice Dragon King huffed coldly and said with a proud snort, "What are you staring at? This is just my temper!"
"Oh? Feeling bold, are we?" Lin Yun's golden eyes widened, his dragon aura bursting forth. "You've got a temper? So do I. I inherited the Dragon God's violent side—think you can flare up in front of me?"
"Come then—want to fight? You've been asleep too long, haven't you? Why not take one of my punches to wake up?"
Lin Yun rolled up his sleeve. His fair, well-proportioned arm instantly swelled into a gleaming golden dragon claw, while his eyes turned to sharp, blood-red slits.
"Fight, then! Who's afraid of who?!" the Ice Dragon King roared, her dragon might surging to match his.
Their auras collided, and the air trembled under the deep, explosive sound of two dragon gods clashing.
"Peace, peace above all!" the Fire Dragon King said with a bitter face, holding tightly to the Ice Dragon King's slender waist while throwing desperate glances at Di Tian.
Di Tian immediately understood. He rushed to Lin Yun's side, dropped to his knees in a sliding bow, and clung to Lin Yun's thigh.
"Respected One, please calm yourself! Don't let anger pierce your reason!"
Under the combined efforts of Di Tian and the Fire Dragon King, Lin Yun and the Ice Dragon King—who were still glaring daggers at each other—finally backed down. Both turned their heads away with a huff.
"Alright, old Jin, don't hold it against my wife," the Fire Dragon King said apologetically, patting Lin Yun on the shoulder. "She's been asleep too long, that's all. She's got a little… morning temper."
Then he raised his hand toward the Ice-Fire Yin Yang Well. The water rippled, and a dazzling, crystal-like scarlet arm bone burst through the surface, landing in his palm.
"To thank you for clearing up our doubts, let me give you your payment first, brother. Here—take it!"
The Fire Dragon King threw an arm around Lin Yun's shoulder and stuffed the god-level Fire Dragon King Right Arm Bone into Lin Yun's hands.
"Ah, how embarrassing," Lin Yun said politely—while immediately slipping the bone into his soul guide without hesitation. With his other hand, he hooked his arm around the Fire Dragon King's shoulder.
"Old Huo, you're a reasonable dragon," Lin Yun said with a grin. "We're all of the same clan—dragon kings, no less! But look at some others here—no respect for our dignity as Dragon Kings, huh?"
"Ah, yes, yes, exactly," the Fire Dragon King said with a stiff smile, silently rolling his eyes.
'You're the last one who should talk about Dragon King dignity.'
"Alright, old Jin," the Fire Dragon King continued, frowning. "We now understand why the Dragon God went mad. But tell me—after our deaths, what happened to the world? I've tried to use my remnant soul to contact the rules of the Douluo Star, and I found that those very rules suppress our beast race to the extreme."
"Why can't soul beasts become gods? What kind of absurd restriction is that? What happened to the Divine Realm?"
His barrage of questions stirred not only the Ice Dragon King's curiosity but also the frustration of Bing Di and Di Tian, who looked over with pleading eyes.
After all, they were the ones truly suffering under this so-called "rule."
Especially Di Tian—if not for this suppression, with his Black Dragon King bloodline and the Dragon God Claw in hand, tens of thousands of years would've easily been enough for him to reach the level of a peak first-class god.
Instead, here he was—not even a divine officer. To unleash a single divine strike, he still had to rely on the Dragon God Claw.
Utterly miserable.
"As for that question…" Lin Yun fell silent for a moment, his tone uncertain. "I can only make a few guesses. I can't be sure if they're true. After all, I was sealed for countless years after the Dragon God War. I don't know everything that happened afterward."
"No matter," the Fire Dragon King said, waving his hand casually. "Just tell us what you think. The Ice Dragon King and I can verify your words."
"Alright then, but let me be clear first," Lin Yun said, raising both hands defensively. "This is all conjecture—just my speculation. Whether it's true or not, I can't guarantee."
(And the author can't either!)
"The rule that 'soul beasts cannot become gods'..." Lin Yun paused, his expression suddenly serious.
"…was decreed by the Dragon God himself!"
"What?!" the four dragons exclaimed in unison.
