Chapter 12 - Susie POV

"So what you are saying is that, you have no idea, who you are, where you came from and what you do?" The policeman said.

I phlursed my lip.

"Yeah, that's right." I replied.

The police station was already buzzing with excitement. Everyone was busy either writing statements, nor talking to prisoners. A policemsn brought in a roughly handled guy into the station. As soon as he came in, our eyes met and I started feeling dizzy again.

"Um....sir, who is he?" I asked.

"He is aprr of the notorious Mafia gang; The Monika's. Bad people." The policeman concluded.

Mafia gang? That guy might know Toretto!

"Well...they are dangerous right?"

" Of course they are! They are the reason why the city can't sleep peacefully at night!" The man said.

I took a deep breath. I really need to avoid this.

"Buhle! Here are the results." another policeman said. Mr Buhle grabbed the file.

"Okay, Ma'am the results are here." he smiled. when he opened it,he raised his eyebrows;

"What is this?!" he questioned.

"I was shocked too sir." the other police man said.

" it seems like her fingerprint isn't on the system." Mr Buhle murmured.

"She might be a fugitive or something." the other police man whispered to Mr. Buhle.

I shrunk back. what if they think that I am dangerous.

No.

I can't let them hold me back. My family is out there and I can feel it.

"Thanks for the help sir but I think I would see myself off." I hesitated. I stood up quickly and went for the exit but Mr. Buhle blocked me.

"We are not done yet, ma'am. We still need to ask you some questions." I gulped. My stomach rumbled. Mr. Buhle heard the sound and looked at my belly.

"it seems like you are hungry. There is free food at our cafeteria." he insisted.

I bit my lip but shook the idea off.

"Thanks but I am not hungry."

There was screaming and within the blink of an eye,a policeman was on the ground.

The trauma of the two dead guys in the alley way came back again and I just froze. My legs refused to move, and my heart was beating faster than ever. it felt like it wanted to come out through my throat.

"Stop him!" A man roared. I looked around and saw the guy that was part of the Mafia gang. he looked at me and winked before he jumped through the window and into a police car outside. There was chaos everywhere and the police men drove after him.

I took that opportunity and started running away, until my legs got tired. The sound of the sirens and headlights died down.

I sighed deeply.

As I turned the corner onto Main Street, the sounds of the city suddenly shifted. Gunfire pierced the air, shattering the calm atmosphere. I turned around and looked for the direction where the gunshot came from. My heart skipped a beat as I realized what was happening – a Mafia battle was unfolding before my eyes.

Panic set in, and I dropped to the ground, scrambling for cover behind a nearby parked car. My palms scraped against the rough asphalt as I peeked around the vehicle, my eyes widened with fear.

The street was a war zone, with bullets flying and people screaming.

I spotted a guy with a tattoo on his neck and a huge scar on his left eye. He looked really fierce. I gasped as he slit open a guy's throat with his bare hands.

My breath caught in my throat as I watched in horror.

The rival groups exchanged gunfire, their faces twisted in anger.

In movies it looked cool, but in real life it is terror.

The sound of shattering glass and crunching metal filled the air, punctuated by the occasional shout or cry for help.

The guy with the tattoo grabbed one guy by the neck and started shouting at him;

"Never mess with me again. For I am Luke, the Demon." Luke roared. He grabbed a torch and tied the guy to a point. The guy was burned alive and at his last breath; the guy screamed:

"Run!"

I knew that he was referring to me, but I couldn't move. The fear of dying held me to my place. Luke figured it out and I could hear him loading up his gun.

Suddenly, the gunfire ceased. The silence was deafening. I stayed there frozen,my ears ringing from the cacophony. The distant wail of sirens grew louder, and I knew the police were closing in. The Mafia's didn't seem to care; they scattered, melting into the alleys like ghosts.

I slowly stood up, my legs trembling beneath me. I took a tentative step forward, surveying the aftermath. The street was in shambles, littered with debris and spent shells. People stumbled about, some injured, others in shock.

As I gazed around, my eyes met those of a bystander, a man who seemed out of place amidst the chaos. Our gazes locked, and for a moment, I looked and saw him holding a camera. A spark of fear came over me but it was quickly extinguished as the man turned and disappeared into the crowd.

The sirens grew louder, and I knew that I needed to get out of there. I took a deep breath and walked into a different street, my mind reeling with questions. What had I just witnessed? Would the violence spill over into my life? And what would be the consequences of me being there?

As I walked, I couldn't shake the feeling that my life had changed forever, that I had been pulled into a world I didn't understand – a world where the lines between good and evil were blurred, and survival depended on making impossible choices.
