Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Catherine frowned a bit, locking eyes with Alexander's intense stare.

Alexander took down an assassin next to him, his wrist bones cracking, and smirked

"I heard the bounty on you went up again?

Catherine stayed quiet.

The bounty on the assassin leaderboard was already sky-high.

Those wanting her dead could line up from The Smith Mansion to Tranquilwave Ocearu

Clearly, Alexander had figured out who she was.

Catherine swiftly stabbed a knife into an assassin's neck, coldly saying, "Don't sell yourself short. Your head's worth a lot too."

Alexander was silent.

He didn't expect the infamous Blackfire on the dark web to be so sharp-tongued.

Catherine clapped her hands, taking down a few assassins beside her, and looked up at Alexander.

"Are you here to kill Marcus too?

Alexander shrugged, pulling a handkerchief from his pocket to carefully wipe the blood off his hands.

"So what if I am, and so what if I'm not?" Catherine said.

He had also seen the message posted on the dark web, specifically asking Blackfire to take the job.

He didn't expect Blackfire to be a young girl.

Hut Alexander knew that age, gender, and appearance were the least important things!

In fact, they were the best disguises.

Catherine's gaze turned cold.

If Nightfall is also here to kill Marcus. I ain't confident I could get out unscathed.

"Withdraw from this order, Catherine said.

Alexander wasn't surprised. He leaned against the stairs, his custom-made shirt adorned with elegant cufflinks, exuding an indescribable calm and composure.

Even Catherine couldn't tell from his appearance that he was the ruthless, murderous Nightfall.

"Fine, but you have to join Shadow Syndicate." Alexander said.

Catherine was silent.

Is he crazy? Everyone on the dark web knows that Faceless Ones and Shadow Syndicate are rival forces, often competing for orders. And now he wants me to join Shadow Syndicates

"TI think about it. Catherine said.

"Looking forward to your response, Alexander said.

Catherine's expression was complicated. She glanced at the composed Alexander in front of her, then looked away, leaving the hallway.

Behind her, Alexander lit a cigarette, the smoke masking his sinister and cold expression, like a demon returned from hell.

After Marcus answered a few phone calls, his previously softened expression from seeing Catherine immediately darkened.

He picked up his cane, entering the adjacent room.

Inside, an elderly man in a hospital gown, playing chess with himself. looked up."

Why are you here? Didn't you say my granddaughter-in-law was coming to see you today? Where is she?"

Marcus almost hit Felix with his cane.

"I sent her back."

Felix slapped his thigh. "You just let her go like that! I haven't even seen her yet!"

Marcus snorted coldly, sitting on the sofa. The seasoned veteran put away the kindness he showed in front of Catherine, exuding an imposing presence.

"There are quite a few people in this hospital who want to kill me."

Felix snorted through his nose and said, "What does that have to do with me? If you die, don't expect me to attend your funeral! Where's my granddaughter-in-law?"

He turned to Alexander, who had just walked in.

"And you have the nerve to come here? I'm telling you, if you don't get married this year, I'll beat you to death!"

Alexander pressed his temples, smiling. "Grandpa Felix, you can't fight against me."

Felix threw the chess piece in his hand, which Alexander caught with one hand.

Marcus pretended not to see, smiling. "I heard some commotion. Were they here to kill me?"

Alexander nodded, "Yeah, all anonymous dark web assassins and an S-class assassin named Blackfire also targeting you. If you need, I can investigate."

Marcus waved his hand, making a move on the chessboard. "No need, I have a good idea. Let's play chess and not talk about unpleasant things."

Alexander said no more, maintaining his gentlemanly demeanor, calm and composed.

Felix threw another chess piece at him. "Get out! Just seeing you annoys me! Go take someone out for dinner and a movie, or I'll die right in front of you!"
