The jeep tore through the narrow forest trail, engine roaring like an angry beast. The blond haired woman gripped the wheel with white knuckles, her long blonde hair whipping wildly in the open wind. She wore only a pair of torn cargo pants, her bare upper body streaked with mud, sweat, and thin red scratches from whipping branches.
Her heart pounded so hard she could feel it in her throat.
Behind her, the Norbata soldiers shouted orders. Their heavy trucks growled over the uneven ground, trying to close the distance. Flashlights cut through the dark trees like hunting knives.
"Keep moving," the blond haired woman growled to herself. "Just keep moving, damn it."
The jeep slammed into a deep dip. The front tires dropped hard into thick, black mud. They spun uselessly, throwing up dark sprays. The vehicle groaned and tilted sideways, stuck fast.
"No!" The blond haired woman slammed her palm against the dashboard. "Not now!"
