Chapter 41 - CHAPTER 41 (S2)

Sigh.. I guess it's better to stay inside for now.. and I ran out of mobile data a while ago, so there's no point in trying to call the others. And plus point because my phone is dead anyway. I walked over to the couch, and laid myself down.. sigh. You know what? Maybe I should go after Ivy...

Nevermind.. I got up again, and walked over to the kitchen, and grabbed a water bottle which I took with me. I hopped onto the counter, and literally chugged the water bottle. I threw it away, grabbing another water bottle, and this time drinking it slower. Although I noticed something. the water.. tasted too humid.

Whatever, it's probably because it was shaken up too much while I ran.. or because it's not refrigerated.. I hopped off the counter, and walked my way into a bedroom. I took the fairy lights that dragged behind me.. since it was just that long. I looked around once again, and walked over to the closet..

Perry's pov:

The four of us have been sitting in silence for a while now, and Nicole and Ruby have been awkwardly sitting on the couch with an overly big distance in between them. Me and Christian were on opposite sides of the room. I was in the kitchen, still a bit hungry. Christian was resting on the opposite side of the room in an armchair. I sighed, leaning against the counter, resting my head back onto a cabinet.

I knocked my head back on the cabinet, the silent room only being filled with silence and the soft sound of my head against the cabinet. It was silent, until finally, Ruby walked over to me, and leaned on the counter next to me. She smiled at me, but didn't say anything. I slightly smiled back. I averted my gaze once again, back to the two males one on the couch and the other on the arm chair.

It was still silent. Suddenly, a bang came at the door after an aggressive series of grabbing the door handle. Christian jumped, wide awake now. Ruby almost yelled in surprise. I turned silently to the door, waiting to see if they would try to barge in any further. But what came next? I immediately went over to open the door.

"LET ME IN!!!" a voice yelled, a voice that sounded like Rexine. I immediately went to open the door when I heard her voice. But, when I opened the door it was a zombie...? Before I could react, it jumped on top of me and if I hadn't resisted, I would've been eaten by now. Ruby, frozen in shock, stood still. Christian immediately ran over and pushed the zombie aside. For a moment, I just laid on the floor, trying to process what just happened.

I slowly sat up, resting my arms on my knees. I picked myself up, and processed it. How did a zombie imitate a voice, nonetheless Rexine's voice? I heard Nicole get up, and when he approached, he killed the zombie.. which I almost forgot about. I stepped back, walking over to the couch and sat down, to calm myself.

Rexine's pov:

I've searched most of the room now, and now I'm currently sitting on the bed sipping an expired juice packet.. I mean, it doesn't taste bad nor does it have fungi. On other matters, I also changed my clothes to some other ones which were in the closet, since the ones I had on were drenched in blood and god knows what else..

I finished the juice packet, tossing it into the trashed floor, and making my way outside. There was seriously nothing to do, was there? I dropped the fairy lights off my shoulders, and walked over to the front door. I lifted my hand to open the door, but I couldn't. Why? I don't know. perhaps because it's dangerous and my body wont let me? it doesn't feel like any of that, though. Whatever my gut feeling was, I opened the door anyway and walked out cautiously.

I probably should have taken something like a knife as a weapon, but I only found a broomstick.. well too bad, I guess.

I walked out, looking both sides like I was crossing the road. I mean, I had to be that careful after all. I looked right, then left. shoot. I accidentally dropped my broomstick, making a slight thud. When I got a clear sight of my left side, I saw zombies. shit. I have to get moving, or I'm dead.

I started running the opposite way, passing a lot of apartments while doing so. I ran as fast as I could, for a long ass time, before I actually managed to lose the zombies. I had no idea how much lefts and rights I took, nor how many turns I took. Basically? I'm lost. I stopped running at a corner, leaning myself on the wall, sliding down and sitting on the floor catching my breath. What I took notice of was the sound of someone running echoing through the hallways, before I stopped running. Not me, that's for sure. I couldn't hear it anymore, though.. so I guess that's relieving, I suppose. I looked around, and saw a room a few feet away from me, two to be specific. It was a dead end hallway, so I had to be pretty careful to avoid making too much noise.

I stood up, walking to the door, and swung it open.

Perry's pov:

It's been about 20 minutes, me and the other have been chilling inside the apartment and trying to figure out the zombie shit that just happened. We agreed on going to look for a rexine around.. say in an hour. Albeit, we came across a pretty big problem 10 minutes ago. We were just casually sitting in the living room, until we heard footsteps outside in the hallways, walking casually. It was the voice of the red haired woman, and an unfamiliar voice. What was the big problem you ask? The red haired woman addressed the unknown voice as Ivy. Yes, the blueberry triplet, Ivy. We listened into their conversation, hoping that we misheard or misunderstood, but that was in vain. When we heard the conversation between the red haired woman and "Ivy" it was clear we misunderstood nothing.

"so, how did the experiment go? Find any clues to find the cure?" the redhead asked.

a subtle chuckle was heard from Ivy.

"Nope, but it was interesting." Ivy added, "I'll think about your offer, but I'd rather stay with my siblings. Plus, I despise you guys, mostly. Don't take it personal, though." Ivy spoke. She was NOT the shy girl that we knew.. the one under disguise, yes. Her voice was a lot deeper, and she sounded way more confident.

Sure, I definitely expected her to be more shy and bashful. But, she certainly did not sound like it. As Ivy and the redhead kept walking, eventually their conversation became muffled. After we confirmed that they were gone, we stood away from the door, taking in the piece of information that we had just received. Was it the real Ivy? Was she working with The organization? There were too many unanswered questions.

"No way.. how are we going to tell this to Rexine and Maverick?" Ruby asked in a low voice and concerned tone.

"She definitely won't take it well, that's for sure." Christian added, making it no better than it already was. Ruby sighed, walking to the living area and taking a seat on the couch. It was clear that Rexine and Ruby were very close. And to tell Rexine this information, would be a risk, especially if Rexine doesn't believe it.

Ruby looked like she was about to have a mental breakdown right then and there. I walked over to her, sitting down beside her. She stared at the ground, with an unpleasant expression on her face..
