Chapter 91 - CHAPTER 91 (S4)

Whether you wanted enemies or friends would usually be up to you. But old bonds that were kept the same for years usually don't just change out of nowhere. But it's also your choice to ignore what it was before. What's the chance of Perry and Christian ignoring anything between them? Absolutely 0. Things that aren't even between them ignite arguments, so no chance anything otherwise would be an exception.

"It was an accident, I was unconscious. Stop making it a big deal." Perry cut off all of Christian's complaints about her head being on his shoulder when he woke up. It was a funny feeling Christian got from it. Something that was hard to explain, and at the same time something he didn't want to explain. Christian scowled, but surprisingly didn't start anything this time. Perry turned away before he could, walking over to wash her face.

Everything.. Everything was going so fast. Too fast. Everything starting from when they'd met Lorrell and Ty to the organization being good people. They were supposed to be her biological parents? Not to mention all the information about the cure, the unexplained types of zombies.. all the unanswered questions she had about the couple. Were they.. really related to her? Did they really start the apocalypse? Even if they did, why would anyone want to start a goddamn zombie apocalypse? All of these questions, they all, every single one of their answer lines remain blank. She was in denial. Lorrell and Ty had too much in common with Perry to cut out the entire theory. The mixed looks, the personality match.. it was all too coincidental to miss or ignore outright.

"Yeah, labelled files. We have to go back there. We could potentially find the cure." Rexine spoke. Perry had just walked out the bathroom, hearing the voice from downstairs. She made her way down, interested in the ongoing conversation.

"Then we need a plan, obviously. If we're doing this, it's better to do it as a group." Damian placed his chin on Alice's head, sipping from a juice packet.

With a plan decided— maybe an hour later, they were off to get to the subway station in two different vehicles. Perry's group in one, the organization in another. Perry ended up being the one to drive, Nicole being in the passenger seat since he didn't trust anyone else to be near her right now. Silent, with unspoken words. The group had to process so much together, there really was nothing they could talk about anymore. Even Maverick couldn't think of anything. Which says a lot. Rexine was barely awake against Eli's shoulder, Rexine and Maverick silently fighting over a half-eaten wafer. Christian kind of wanted to annoy Perry, though since she was driving, he couldn't risk that much.

He wasn't sure why, but whenever Perry pulled away first, he found himself trying to chase her back to him. And without knowing it, they ended up fighting. Every. Single. Damn. Time. He wasn't so sure as to why they couldn't just have a normal conversation. Even if it was for a mere 5 minutes. Maybe… by now, fighting was the only way they could both communicate. It was the only way they could interact, the only way they had grown comfortable with. It was no different for Perry. She had about the same questions about their relationship within the past 7 months. If anything, the apocalypse had made their relationship worse. Or, really that's what they thought. Many nights had already been spent with silent words, stolen glances that didn't ignite another heated quarrel. And that was definitely progress. Maybe it was childish, but there had always undeniably been a push and pull tension between the two. It had become a part of their daily routine over the prior months, it's the only thing they had the courage to do.

Moving on.

The van did eventually grow a bit louder with chatter, Axelle and Waylen starting to banter about god knows what, Dave and Darren at the very back.. Sleeping? Since Darren MIGHT HAVE been snoring. MIGHT. This time, the ride there was longer than before. Why? First of all, the house was actually quite far away from the subway station. Whatever the case, they were closing in now. And they had to take a bit of a different route within the last few minutes of the drive since they'd be arriving at the back, unlike the organization.

"Look!!" Maverick was pointing outside, at a very human female who was beating the life… no— death? Out of zombies. Zombies don't really have life.

"Well isn't that just great.. She looks pretty young." Waylen commented, pushing Axelle off of him, and trying to get a better look outside.

"Isn't that…" Christian was squinting trying to look from the very far left.

"That…! The red haired girl from.. Like months ago?" Perry almost stopped the vehicle dead in its tracks, staring her down. But she kept going, not wanting to seem suspicious. But, to be fair, the fact there was a moving van… not to mention a big one, was suspicious enough. But she didn't even seem to bat an eye at the vehicle.

"Isn't she with the organization?" Rexine asked, a little puzzled. All of them kind of were.

Eventually they had passed the girl, alas she faded into the distance behind them. They didn't spot anyone else with her, which they found extremely suspicious. Was it still too early to completely trust them? The organization seemed sincere, not to mention Dave and Darren both explained what happened. That couldn't be a lie.. could it?

They arrived around the back, parking a black away and walking to the subway station to be safe. Obviously parking too close would be way too obvious. So they walked, making sure Lorrell and Ty weren't close by, or that they could see the group.

Standing at the foot of the staircase, behind the actual entrance was a slight bit more intimidating than it sounded in words. Their plan was going seamlessly— only because it had just begun and nothing had yet been done. Meanwhile, the organization was executing their part of the plan without much flaws. Yet. Perry received the notification on her phone from Nathan to go ahead and inside the station, so she gestured to the group behind her to follow.

Inside the room— it was the same, obviously. They had been there not that long ago. But there seemed to be at least 4 more cameras than there were before. Perry stepped inside first, making sure she didn't walk into some trap or something. She knew for a fact Lorrell and Ty weren't dumb, and it was only a matter of time before they found out so they had to make it fast. Perry glanced around the room, spotting many things she took a mental note of. First and foremost, the messy desk. The files splayed out, and.. Open computer. Books everywhere, papers scattered around the floor for added decoration, suppose. Whatever they were doing in here, it seemed urgent and important.
