Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Ninja Academy

Uchiha Anya, having broken away from the Uchiha clan, quickly crafted a new identity using his past experience. He renamed himself Anya, completely dropping the Uchiha surname.

Of course, this new identity was rather rough. If someone were determined to investigate, they could easily uncover his true background. But he didn't care—he wanted to make it clear that he had cut all ties with the clan.

Since this was a time of war, orphans were everywhere, making it very easy to fabricate such a background. As for abandoned houses, there were plenty to choose from.

He casually picked a small house with a wide view. When he opened the door, he found it fully equipped but filled with dust and cobwebs—clearly uninhabited for a long time. Anya immediately started cleaning, then tidied the bed. This would serve as his long-term residence from now on.

Looking up at the distant stone cliff, three giant statues stood out prominently.

Anya glanced at them and immediately understood. So the current Third Hokage was in charge. Minato Namikaze, Naruto's father, hadn't taken power yet. At this time, he was probably still a little brat—maybe even studying at the Ninja Academy right now. Given his talent, the village would soon take notice of him.

Anya also had his sights set on the Ninja Academy. That way, he could get proper training and boost his strength fast. In times of war, survival was critical.

Soon, Anya arrived at the Academy's registration desk with his new identity documents. Naturally, his status as an orphan drew sympathy, but also more than a few questions.

However, he easily passed the small inquiries about Konoha using his memories.

After entering the classroom, he chose a seat by the window. Soon, a teacher arrived and started the lesson. Unlike what he remembered from stories, this instructor almost exclusively taught self-defense techniques—detailed lessons about what jutsu to use in what situations. The class was short but filled with in-depth knowledge, clearly from someone who had survived real wars.

In just one lesson, Anya felt he had gained great insight. Even after the bell rang, he was still thinking about the combat techniques the teacher had just explained.

When he finally snapped out of his thoughts, he realized he was surrounded by several young girls. He felt a bit puzzled—what was going on?

A pink-haired girl shyly said, "Hi, you're really cute. Can we get to know each other?"

After his surprise, Anya realized what was happening. He hadn't expected children here to be so mature for their age. Nor had he expected his good looks would draw attention so quickly. He smiled slightly and replied, "Well, I don't like chatting with ugly girls. Of course, I'm not talking about you specifically—I mean all of you are the same."

As soon as he said that, the expressions of the girls surrounding him instantly changed. The pink-haired girl looked especially hurt, almost on the verge of tears. She pointed at him, unable to say anything before turning around and rushing back to her seat.

Sigh, peace at last. Why bother dealing with a bunch of underdeveloped little girls anyway?

As Anya relaxed and enjoyed the quiet, he noticed a pair of bright blue eyes looking at him strangely.

Looking over, he saw a boy with spiky yellow hair—actually quite delicate-looking. Wait a second, that hairstyle looked oddly familiar. Could this seriously be Naruto's dad?

The yellow-haired boy noticed Anya's gaze fixed on him, nodded toward him, and then began reading his book.

Soon after, the bell rang and the next class started—it was an outdoor session. Everyone performed the basic Three Body Techniques. As expected, no one failed. After all, this was a time of war; those without talent were usually weeded out early, so there weren't any underachievers like Naruto around. Naturally, differences remained in how quickly they could form Hand Seals, and currently, the fastest among them was that yellow-haired boy, who successfully summoned four Shadow Clones at once. He was also extremely fast with the other two techniques—the Clone Technique and the Body Flicker.

The instructor nodded in satisfaction and loudly announced, "Now it's time for sparring! Pair up and fight. The loser will have to stay after school and clean the classroom."

As the teacher started calling off the pairs, he finally announced, "Next group: Minato Namikaze versus Anya!"

Anya's heart stirred as he looked toward the yellow-haired boy. At that moment, the boy turned to look at him too, and their eyes met.

So it really was him—the Yellow Flash, the Fourth Hokage, Naruto's father, the man known as the fastest ninja in history. I didn't expect our paths to cross this soon.

Each holding a wooden kunai, they stood facing each other. Minato made the first move, instantly appearing behind Anya and thrusting the kunai toward his neck.

So fast!

That speed truly lives up to his reputation as the Yellow Flash. Anya didn't have time to block, but he'd been ready for it—he flew through the Hand Seal for the [Substitution Jutsu] just in time, swapping himself with a log.

After recovering from his surprise, Minato wasted no time, immediately following up with the [Leaf Whirlwind] aimed at Anya's new position.

Ducking low, Anya narrowly avoided the attack before retaliating with a high kick.

Back and forth they went, exchanging blows so fast they blurred, even employing Shadow Clones.

Just then, Anya overheard conversations from the surrounding groups—using his mental focus, he sensed that all the other matches had long since finished. Even the instructor wore a shocked expression, clearly surprised that he had lasted so long against someone labeled a prodigy like Minato.

Oops, got carried away.

Realizing his mistake, Anya deliberately left an opening. Minato's kick sent him flying—tumbling several times before hitting the ground in a puff of dust.

Minato felt puzzled. This freshman had given him a pressure unlike any peer he'd faced before, which was why he'd taken the match so seriously. He hadn't expected Anya to suddenly be knocked away like that. Concerned he might have gone too hard, he quickly used Shunshin to rush over and help Anya up. "Are you okay?" he asked anxiously.

Coughing twice, Anya waved him off. "I'm fine. Just need a minute."

At that moment, the instructor clapped his hands, enthusiastically praising, "Great match! I think all of you are ready to become genin soon enough."

The other students gazed at them enviously, but inside, Anya knew better. Genin were basically cannon fodder on the battlefield—hell, even jonin sometimes couldn't make it back alive.

"Class is dismissed for today. The one who lost will stay behind to clean up. Anya, since you got injured earlier, you're excused. Head home and rest early. I look forward to seeing your progress in the future."

It was clear that the teacher held high expectations for Anya, the new student. She was truly a budding talent.

With no need to waste time cleaning, Anya readily agreed. She simply nodded to the teacher and turned to leave.

Soon, everyone had left the training ground except Minato, who remained silently staring at the fading silhouette of Anya's departure, lost in thought.
