As expected, upon hearing about the Flying Thunder God Technique, Mabui fell into a long silence. This jutsu seemed deceptively simple—it didn't even appear to deal much damage—but in actual combat, it was terrifying. Anyone weaker than him would be instantly killed, while anyone stronger still wouldn't manage to kill him. It truly was an unbeatable technique that combined offense, closing distance, confusion, surprise attacks, escape, and target shifting all in one.
Seeing this, Anya didn't rush her and waited patiently.
After a while, Mabui took a deep breath and said to Anya, "Thank you."
Anya offered a casual smile. "No need to thank me; it's just an equal exchange. I already asked my question."
Mabui thought for a moment but kept his promise anyway. "My Heavenly Transfer Jutsu instantly moves a target to a designated location through high-speed movement."
"Oh, so that's how it works," Anya said casually. On the surface, he remained composed, but internally, his thoughts were racing. Although Mabui had explained it simply, this technique was amazing—especially for espionage, it was practically perfect.
Wait a second… can the target be a person?
Anya voiced his thoughts.
Mabui gave a bitter smile. "You're overthinking. The Heavenly Transfer Jutsu is used for delivering objects. Unlike summoning or reverse-summoning techniques, it cannot be used on people. Human bodies can't withstand such high-speed transportation—they'd be torn apart."
"What if someone could endure it?" Anya suddenly asked.
"How could that be possible? So far, only…" Mabui abruptly stopped mid-sentence, cold sweat drenching his back. No, this Yunbai was from Konoha, a rival ninja village. How did I end up telling him so much? Since when had he let down his guard toward him like this?
Though Mabui didn't finish, Anya had already figured it out—the only person who could survive the impact of the Heavenly Transfer Jutsu must be the Third Raikage.
If that's true, then the potential of this technique exceeds previous estimates. And its use in battle might not be impossible either—at least, Anya wasn't confident he could survive the damage caused by the Heavenly Transfer Jutsu himself.
Coming back to his senses, Mabui slightly lowered his head and told Anya, "We've talked long enough. Now that we've learned everything concerning the Land of the Blacksmiths, I should return to my village."
"Wait." Anya stepped forward and gently tilted Mabui's chin up so their eyes met. He said, "It's rare to meet someone to talk with. Why rush back so soon? If you want to send intelligence reports, couldn't you just use your Heavenly Transfer Jutsu?"
Mabui never expected Anya to flirt with her. Her eyes widened in shock. After Anya finished speaking, she finally reacted—her face flushed red as she stepped back twice and scolded, "Yunbai, you're going too far."
Anya's gaze flickered, and with an apologetic smile, he said, "Sorry, I just don't want you to leave so soon. Besides, don't you want me to return to Kumogakure again?"
Hearing these words, Mabui—who had originally intended to angrily leave—forced herself to stop and retorted, "Will you leave Konoha?"
"Why wouldn't I? As long as there's something enticing in Kumogakure, I will naturally come back."
Mabui shook her head and said, "I don't believe you."
Anya teased, "That's because you don't know me well enough. How about sticking around a couple more days? Let's get to know each other better—you'll learn to trust me."
Mabui hesitated. Truth be told, Yunbai was undoubtedly a powerful ninja with deep knowledge of Konoha. If he could truly be convinced to join Kumogakure, he would be an invaluable asset. Staying for two more days wouldn't hurt.
Convincing herself, Mabui made her decision. "I can stay an extra two days, but if you try anything again, don't expect me to hold back."
"I promise nothing like that will happen," Anya gallantly invited. "Come on, let me take you to the best room in the village."
Mabui warned, "No need. I'll pick my own room and set up a barrier around it. Don't come near without my permission."
Anya nodded in agreement. "Fine."
Seeing his compliance, Mabui relaxed slightly and turned to find Killer Bee.
As she left, a small bird puppet bearing Sasori's mark appeared in Anya's hand. After activating it with chakra, the tiny bird silently flew far away, unnoticed by anyone.
Finding Killer Bee, Mabui asked, "How much do you know about this Yunbai?"
"Hmm." Killer Bee rubbed his chin thoughtfully before replying after a pause. "His Sword Art is incredible."
After waiting for a while, Mabui asked with confusion, "That's all?"
Killer Bee firmly nodded. "Yep, that's it."
Sighing helplessly, Mabui patted her forehead and said, "B, you'd better head back to the village now. Otherwise your brother will start worrying again—and you know how he gets when that happens."
"Alright." Killer Bee sighed, agreeing verbally but still gazing at the area lingeringly, making no move to leave.
"Come out," Mabui suddenly commanded coldly, and dozens of Anbu members emerged from the dense forest.
Pointing to two among them, Mabui ordered, "You two are responsible for escorting Lord Killer Bee back to the village. The rest of you remain hidden here. Don't show yourselves unless I give orders."
"Yes," replied the dozen Anbu before vanishing. The designated two flanked Killer Bee and disappeared on the spot as well.
After watching Killer Bee leave, Mabui relaxed once more, pulling out a scroll and writing down everything she had just learned on it. She believed that even if Yunbai didn't accompany her back to the village after two days, she could still obtain further information from him. This deal seemed profitable no matter how she looked at it.
Just as Mabui had guessed, during the first day after deciding to stay, Anya became extremely attentive—almost overly considerate—fully displaying the gentle and caring side of a man. He never acted inappropriately and even demonstrated his [Sword Art] for her.
Yet the more attentive he was, the more uneasy Mabui felt. A weird feeling settled in her chest, like she was a moth unknowingly flying into a spiderweb.
Over the course of the day, Mabui once again gathered a significant amount of intelligence from Anya. Even regarding the jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails, Anya held nothing back. The information matched exactly what she had gathered within the village. This probe clearly showed that Anya indeed had no so-called loyalty to Konoha.
Mabui also discovered the romantic relationship between Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, which was a notable piece of information.
The next day, Anya came as usual to wake up Mabui. Of course, it had been made clear beforehand that he simply waited outside while Mabui got ready, not crossing any boundaries.
When Mabui finished preparing herself and opened the door, she immediately saw Anya, who was covered in morning dew. A warm feeling stirred inside her, prompting her to gently ask, "How long have you been waiting here?"
Anya smiled and replied, "Not for long. I made breakfast for you. Let's eat together."
Mabui responded with a smile, saying, "Alright."
