Chapter 4 - LIGHT VS BLUNT GOONS

It was the first Monday of the new month, and word of the fight had already spread in Light's school, Nova Heights High.

On the surface, Nova Heights High was just another public school.

Brick walls. Morning assemblies. Pop quizzes. But behind the smiles and schedules, it was anything but ordinary.

Hidden from the public, it trained the children, teenagers born with superpowers. Here, math class was followed by power control.

Education of young neo humans on how to use their abilities for good and to the benefit of mankind.

As Light walked along the hallway, murmurs followed him with every step.

That idiot.

He's not going to give up until Blunt kills him.

Name's Light, but he's got none in his brain.

But our exams are coming up?

Students muttered as he walked past. He paid the man no mind just kids, after all. He'd had far worse in his former world.

Before the fight, he made his way to the training center, eager to understand the limits of his new body.

He glanced around no one was there.

"How convenient," Light muttered.

He approached the strength training machine and grabbed the rope. With a sharp pull, he yanked it with all his might.

Ping!

The machine rang, displaying: Strength: One Ton.

Light smiled.

"Good enough, with Qi, I can push it even further."

He did not care to measure speed because to him, it mattered much and techniques and senses could easily compensate for that in combat.

He took a stance and began to train. After a flurry of punches, kicks, rolls, and practiced techniques, he started to understand his body—its current capabilities and its limits.

After he finished the session, he grabbed a towel and wiped the sweat from his face. He glanced at the clock and realized that only an hour remained until he's fight.

Ding! The door chimed as it swung open slowly.

He turned to see who it was —Blunt's goons: Madi, John, and Adrian.

John stepped forward and casually locked the door behind him, blocking the only exit. Adrian and Madi walked slowly towards him.

"What are you training for?" Madi asked sarcastically.

"To beat your boss...," Light replied confidently.

"Haha," they laughed hysterically.

Madi grinned. "Funny, 'cause ya not gonna even meet him."

Light chuckled, "And why is that?"

Madi rushed Scott, saying, "'cause we're gonna beat ya so bad that you can't" Adrian followed closely, fist clenched.

At one look, Light analyzed them and created a countermeasure to defeat them.

Madi built like a tank. Has high durability but is slow, I'll overwhelm him with speed, Adrian's a little trickier... strength, regeneration and claws, best bet: Suffocation

Madi lunged forward, throwing a straight hook at light, meant to finish the fight, but he weaved it like it was nothing.

BAM!

Countered with a quick punch to his head

Madi's head snapped back as he went flying across the room. He crashed into the wall, leaving a dent.

"Madi!" John yelled in concern. He ran towards him in a panic, "Are you ok?! "

He groaned, clutching his head, "he's strong!"

Light dropped his guard for a split second—just enough.

Adrian pounced.

With a savage snarl, he appeared behind Light and raked his claws across his back, and screamed, "I've got him!"

But then… he froze.

There wasn't a single drop of blood, no torn flesh.

Light, turning his head slightly, calm, unbothered.

"W-What...?" Adrian stammered. His eyes widened.

"This guy... he's different?"

Without a word, Light turned. In one fluid motion, he spun.

CRACK!

A devastating kick crashed into Adrian's head.

His body twisted mid-air before slamming into the ground with a sickening thud.

The floor trembled beneath the impact.

Adrian didn't move. His skull was partially caved in.

Madi staggered back to his feet, wiping blood from his lip as he regrouped with John. The two stood side by side, eyes locked on Light.

A quiet standoff, then a soft chuckle echoed from behind.

Adrian rose slowly, his twisted skull snapping back into place with unsettling pops and cracks.

He grinned, blood still dripping from his chin.

"Looks like you forgot... I heal."

Adrian stood behind Light, while John and Madi flanked him from the front.

"So it seems... the boss was right about you," Madi said.

"About what?" Light replied, calm and confident.

"Your powers. They've evolved."

Light scoffed.

"What's so funny?!" Madi snapped.

"I thought you were going to say something interesting," Light replied. "But it seems you're just wasting time."

"What?!" Adrian barked.

Light stepped forward, his left leg shifting ahead of his right. One arm opened in a swatting motion, the other curled into a tight boxing guard.

HEAVENLY MARTIAL STANCE.

"Let's end this."

BOOM!

The air cracked.

In a flash, he dashed toward John. Before John could fire his laser, Light drove a palm strike into his gut. A ripple of qi burst outward like a shockwave.

John flew backwards, crashing into a nearby machine, shattering it into pieces.

Madi stared, wide-eyed, stunned.

"Wha—?" he barely managed before Light turned toward him and attacked. Madi barely raised his arms to block.

"He's fast! But my defense is the strongest there is..."

Light's lips curled into a soft smile.

"One hundred and one palm strike."

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Dozens—hundreds—of palm strikes slammed into Madi in rapid succession. Each blow sent pulses of qi through his body, bypassing his defenses entirely.

"Argh! Please—stop!" Madi cried, overwhelmed.

Light stepped forward, channeling all his qi into the final blow. "ONE HUNDRED AND ONE!"

BAM!

The final strike blasted Madi upward, tearing through the roof of the training center in a burst of debris.

Light turned slowly.

Adrian was shaking.

"Ah!" he whimpered, stepping back. He popped his claws and dropped into a defensive stance.

"You know, Light... I can heal from anything."

Light smiled softly. "True. But if it mattered, you wouldn't be shaking."

[BOUND STEP]

In a blink, Light vanished—reappearing behind Adrian.

He snaked an arm around Adrian's throat, locking him in a tight chokehold. Adrian flailed like a fish out of water, clawing at Light's arm, eyes wide with panic.

Light leaned in, voice a whisper.

"Now you know how it feels."

Adrian struggled, gasped, then finally went limp.

Light released him, letting him collapse beside his teammates. He turned, walking toward the exit.

"Your boss is next," he muttered.
