The drive to the mansion was quiet. I could hear Taylor talking about different things as we drove back to the mansion, but I could not hear him at all; all I could think about was Mikel's obsession and curiosity. I felt very worried that he was going to find out the truth, and I knew what would come after if he found out that Cassandra was not a wolf.
He was not going to only hurt her; he was going to hurt my pup in the process, and I did not want that to happen.
Immediately he drove to the garage; I stepped out of the car, walking into the living room as I found my way to the bar and poured myself a glass of alcohol. I sat beside the mini bar in the large living room as I sipped slowly from the glass.
I needed space to think; I needed to think about the best way to hide her away from him until our deal was over and she could go her separate way.
It was in the middle of these thoughts that I heard her call my name. I turned to my side and was rather surprised to see her standing behind me.
She looked dressed up in a black pair of trousers and a light blue jacket.
"When did you get here?" I asked, staring at her in surprise because I did not hear her footsteps approaching.
"Some seconds ago, I wanted to tell you that I need to go out," she said to me, her bright eyes staring at me.
I stared at her for a few seconds before turning back to the counter as I sipped from the glass of alcohol again.
There was a brief silence between us; I was trying to think of the perfect response to give to her because her leaving that house at that moment was not going to happen.
"Donald, please..." She began to speak, but I interrupted her before she could say anything more.
"There's no point; you cannot go out today," I said to her, trying to sound as calm as possible.
"I don't understand, why?" she asked me.
"Because it is not safe, Cassandra; you cannot be outside, not today," I responded immediately, grabbing the glass of alcohol as I stood up from the long stool where I was sitting beside the bar and began walking into the centre of the living room.
"I could not sleep last night; I really could not sleep. "I was so terrified, and today I don't feel well. I feel like I should go to the hospital and see Emily," she said to me, and I could hear her footsteps following me into the living room.
"Did you tell the doctor you stay here now?" I asked, turning around to face her.
"No, I did not; I was just going to go see her like every other meeting. I really need to explain the way I feel to her; she will know how to help me," she said to me, and I let out a sigh of relief knowing that she had not told the doctor about her stay in the mansion.
My intention was to keep it that way until I was sure that she was really safe to go out, until then, going to meet the doctor was only going to jeopardize that plan.
"You can't go to her anymore; I will get you a doctor who would see you from here." I said to her as I walked to those tables in the centre of the living room and slowly dropped my glass on them.
"What are you talking about?" she asked me.
"You heard me right. Cassandra, you would not be saying 'that doctor' anymore. "I'll get you a doctor who I can trust to treat you from here," I said to her this time, saying the words slowly to show emphasis.
"Are you kidding? "Dr Emily is not just my doctor; she is my friend. She's the one who has been seeing me since I got married, and I cannot just let someone else treat me; she's the one I trust," she said to me, but I was not going to listen to all that from her anymore.
"I am not going to argue this with you," I said to her and turned in the direction of the stairs when she rushed up to me, grabbing my hand.
"You said you were not going to hold me in here; you said you were going to allow me to go out," she said, obviously trying to remind me of my word.
"I know I said that, but I told you it was after a week and when I am sure you'd be safe around here, but right now you're not, and the best thing to do is stay back in here," I said in a calm voice, not pulling away from her or trying to be harsh.
I could see the way she was looking up at me; tears were already clouding her eyes. The pain she was feeling was visible, but I had no choice.
"Donald, please, I need to go and see someone. "I need to talk to someone that I trust; I need to see Emily," she said to me, and this time she was outrightly begging.
"Cassandra gets over it; your doctor will be here soon," I said, pulling away from her slowly.
"What?" She questioned.
I was not going to respond to that question as I began to walk up the stairs. Halfwayup the stairs I took out my phone and dialled Taylor's number.
"Hello boss."
"Taylor, I need you to drop whatever you're on to right now and go pick up Alexander. Tell him it's an emergency; he needs to be in the mansion immediately, and make sure you cancel every appointment Cassandra has with the doctor, Emily, at the fertility hospital." I said immediately.
"Yes, Sir. "I'm on it," he responded swiftly.
20 minutes later, Taylor was driving into the mansion, and just as he parked the car, Alexander, my family physician and the most trusted doctor in the pack, stepped out.
"Your call was impromptu, but I could not refuse," he said as he approached me at the door.
"Welcome, Alex, I need you to see someone," I said to him.
"Who?" He asked, staring surprisedly.
"We need to talk first. Do you promise me you'll keep a secret?" I asked him.
