Chapter 13 - Donald Valdosta's POV.

I was staring at Alexander in silence.Among all the physicians that attended to both wolves and humans alike, Alexandria was the only one my family had worked with for decades, and I felt he was the only one I could trust to treat Cassandra and still keep it a secret.

However, I could not just take him to her; I needed him to promise me and sign a non-disclosure agreement to keep everything that happens in the mansion secret forever.

"I keep my clients' affairs confidential, especially when it is one of great status, as yours is. "I can't possibly turn on you no matter what," he said to me, and I nodded my head slowly, but that was not enough.

"I will need you to sign that in a contract because this is very important," I said to him as we began to walk towards my study.

After the contracts were signed despite the anonymity of the job, I took him to the quarter where Cassandra stayed. Taylor followed slowly behind us, and just as I got to the front of the door, I knocked on it twice and stepped aside, waiting for her to respond.

After about ten seconds, I was about to knock the second time when she slowly opened the door.

"What do you..." she was about to say when she caught sight of Alexander and Taylor standing behind me.

"May we come in?" I asked her in a calm voice.

She held onto the door for a few seconds longer before finally letting go of it and going back into the room, while I pushed the door, walking into the living room.

"What is this?" she asked immediately after we got inside the living room. Her gaze was completely fixed on me, and she pretended as if the two other people behind me did not even exist.

"This is Dr Alex; he's going to be seeing you from now on. You do not need to hold back anything from him because he's a very experienced doctor for both humans and wolves." I said to her, glancing at Alex and then back to her.

"When I said I wanted to see a doctor, I never said any doctor. I wanted to go see Emily. I would not let anyone else see me if not her," she said to me, folding her arms around her chest.

"Please, Cassandra. Let's not make this more complicated than it already is. "Dr Alex will be the one seeing you from now on, and I am not going to be arguing it with you," I said to her, my tone a little higher than before.

I thought she was going to respond, but she did not; she simply turned around and wanted to walk away.

"You do not walk away when I speak to you," I said in a calm voice.

"Why? because you are the boss that everyone has to obey? "Look, Donald, whatever it is that's going on here, I do not want to be a part of it. You cannot command me around like I am one of your members who would do whatever it is you say to them." She said to me in a loud voice, obviously yelling at the moment.

"Cassandra, we can either do this the easy way, or I'll have Taylor force you down while Dr Alex treats you," I said to her, and this time I was not joking.

Everything I said was true, and I was not going to hesitate to have Taylor hold her down to a seat if she resisted further.

"This is ridiculous. Where do you force a person to take treatments?" She asked me.

"She's right, Alpha; we cannot force her to take these treatments if she does not want to; it might alter a lot of results," Alex whispered to me.

I stared at her in silence for about five seconds. "Give us a moment," I said to Taylor and Alex, who both walked out of the door slowly, and just as Taylor closed the door behind them, I turned my gaze to Cassandra.

"I'm trying my best to be gentle with you, but you keep pushing me. Why?" I asked her, gradually taking slow steps closer to her.

She was staring in silence; her gaze was down. It was unlike her to not respond when this was a perfect opportunity to yell at me and tell me how much she hated all of this.

"What do you want from me?" She asked me in a weak voice, raising her head gradually until her gaze was completely fixed on me. Her eyes were blurred with tears that threatened to fall.

I hated that she was like this, but the safety of my pup was important to me too. Seeing the way she was thrown out of that house, I could not help but wonder what other danger she might be exposed to outside my watch.

Moreover, alpha wolves were known from history to protect their pups from the moment they were conceived. I couldn't help it.

"I don't like that you're hurting, but you need to do as I say," I said in a calm voice.

"Why? Why does it have to be me? Haven't I been through enough pain all these years already?" She asked me.

I could tell from her words that it was no longer about her refusal to let Doctor Alex see her; this was way deeper than that.

"Cassandra..." I called out to her, taking a step closer as I tried to hold her hand, but she recoiled before I could reach her.

"Do not dare touch me, and my name is Cassie! I hate the way you call my name!" She yelled.

"You're making this difficult for me too," I whispered.

"Then go away, let me go, and let's end this," she replied.

"And what about my pup?" I asked her.

"Who cares about it? It was only a mistake, and you could have another with anyone..." She was done speaking when I grabbed her wrist, turning her around to make sure it hurt.

"Donald, please stop!" She yelled.

"What did you just say about my pup?" I asked her in a steady voice while she winced in pain, struggling to free herself.
