Levi appeared above the academy's square, gazing down on the demons with surprise. Since he reached this world, this was the first time he had seen a true demon.
"Truly as chaotic as they say," he muttered beneath his breath. The demons had spread from the original square to the entire academy. Blood stains painted the floor, as dead bodies littered everywhere.
Levi observed even the most minute details about the demons. They were drawn towards noises; on their heads were 7 horns each, their tails were like a scorpion's pincers, their eyes were hollow, and their bodies were deep black.
"That's enough sight, Aeon, let's go," Levi said to Aeon, who had gotten to his side earlier. He could only use Aeon in his battles since everyone thought he had beaten it to submission in the academy trial three months ago.
Aeon wiggled its tails slightly, then, in a flash, it followed behind Levi into the horde of demons.
As Levi dove down, nanites stitched heavily into his legs, coating them in multiple layers. He landed in the heart of the horde like a nuke, the area around him erupting in a mini-earthquake that destroyed Demons.
'So much wasted materials, if only the academy were not monitoring this, I would have sent this to Aiden,' Levi thought in disappointment.
His nano boot in his leg began to dissolve. Then it morphed, forming a scythe in his hand.
The demons that were headed in the opposite direction faced back; those that were coming from behind moved faster.
All demons locked onto Levi with one intention: to kill.
Levi smiled at their attempts. "How sweet, getting targeted by so many demons on my first clash with demons."
As the demons stepped into a 20-meter radius from Levi, it seemed like time froze. Their movements slowed by at least 70 per cent.
"Using all my free time trying to develop a skill was not in vain," Levi said with a smile.
To reach the god realm, one needed to create skills with their affinities, then elevate those skills to laws.
The skill Levi is using was created with time and space affinity, stasis domain.
Levi's form blurred; he moved like a reaper among the demons. Every swing of his scythe fell heads.
'No wonder the grim reaper is always using a scythe, it makes it easier to harvest lives,' Levi mused, his scythe taking the life of another demon.
Aeon was not to be left behind. As he pounced into the demons, the temperature increased severalfold. Instinctively, the demons looked up to see the trails of burning stone that were rushing into their midst.
Before they could even run, the stones landed. The ground was scorched, and everywhere blew into rubble as a star fell into the world.
If Levi was the Grim Reaper, then Aeon was the judge of their sins.
Atlas and Blaze had reached the square, but their mouths were wide agape as they stared at Levi and his pet.
"How much does he hold back whenever he spars with us?" Blaze gulped.
"Well, this just goes on to cement our belief that he is a monster," Atlas joked. "Let's join, we can't let him steal all the points," he added, jumping into the heart of the battle.
With his descent came tremors. Tremors that sent demons flying, and even weaker ones burst from the force, erupting in a mass of gore and flesh.
Blaze ran into the demons, his tail clearing the path for him. He swung his blade lightly, sending an arc of lightning that cut through the demons easily.
The other students had gotten there at the same time as the duo, but they couldn't recover from the shock as fast as they did. How will a boy barely 16 years old kill demons like they were nothing?
But as elite students, they were able to get their minds together quickly. They all charged into the battle.
'Most of them.are only adept and initiate tier, no wonder the academy was bold enough to pitch us together, ' Levi mused.
"Why is the destruction there more than the one here?" Levi muttered. He also knew that he was killing demons at an insane speed, which made it even more stunning that demons were being destroyed at a faster pace in another place.
But before he could look further, a sharp cry tore through the place. Levi turned sharply.
The first death. 3 students died under the relentless rush of the demons.
Levi's eyes narrowed when he saw this. "It is only natural that people die." But although he said this, something stirred inside him.
He finally looked down to see the blood he had shed. In his past life, he had never seen so much blood, talkless of shedding it.
"I guess this is my new reality," he concluded.
In the place Levi was looking before, Selene was moving among the demons gracefully. Her sword cleaved through demons with ease, and every strike tore through space.
She stopped mid-swing. Not just her, Levi stopped too.
Presences not meant to be here had invaded.
She squinted her eyes as she stared at the 3 demons walking into the battlefield with calm, regal steps. With a thought, she vanished, appearing just next to Levi.
"Grandmasters," she whispered, her voice barely above her breath. But Levi heard her.
"If we fight them here, it will affect the others," Levi told her. His eyes never left the approaching demons as he spoke. "Can you take us to the Arena?" He asked.
He knew she had space affinity, so he decided to use it instead of exposing his.
Selene furrowed her brows as she calculated. She had to reserve mana in a situation like this. As if reading her thought, Levi brought a mana potion from his inventory.
"You can use this to restore your mana," he said.
Selene looked at him, then nodded.
Instantly, a circle expanded with Selene as the anchor. It swallowed her, Levi and the three demons.
In a burst of shimmering white light, they all vanished.
