Chapter 150: Unbearable
Mike and Sarah continued their gaming adventure with laughter. Rose's room was, without a doubt, the most fun scene for them so far.
Not to mention the previous space trip. The fun mini-games of hopscotch kept them fascinated. After arriving at the train station, Dr. Hagin, the Book of Love, reappeared and absorbed them into a kaleidoscope.
Each scene was incredibly interesting and, of course, they all included toys. The puzzles in each scene were also very engaging. For example, after arriving at the train station and finding the four corresponding figures, they entered a new scene: "Dinosaur Park."
The cart they used to move forward crashed into a sleeping dinosaur, which forced them to use tricks to wake it up and make it open its mouth to continue. Here, one player controlled the large dinosaur, biting the handle, while the other rode the smaller red dragon. Then they had to manipulate the various dinosaur toys in the park to overcome the traps. This was possibly the most complex puzzle Sarah and Mike faced.
However, a thrilling naval battle soon followed. The final boss battle was a duel with the giant octopus seen in the previous trailer, a truly exciting experience.
After defeating the octopus, a circus show broke out: one person rode a bicycle and the other held a balancing bar. This tacit cooperation went beyond simply changing switches at the beginning, becoming a more intense collaboration.
After leaving the circus, there were no puzzles, they simply cooperated to get to the castle. This gave Sarah and Mike some time to relax.
Upon arriving at the castle, the guards saw them. Cody and May decided to lie to get their way, but then Dr. Hagin suddenly appeared and revealed that they were both coming to assassinate the queen. The guards then imprisoned Cody and May.
Here, Cody and May collaborated to escape, acquiring new skills for this scene: ice and fire magic, respectively. The game also shifted to a top-down perspective. Suddenly, the game went from an action-adventure game to an RPG.
Cody's ability allowed him to teleport through bars and freeze lava, while May's allowed her to run long distances. Basically, like most RPGs, this level consisted of fighting minions, elite monsters, and, finally, the chess king and queen.
The combat was quite simple, with the usual RPG clichés. But Sarah and Mike had a great time. The main reason was that they had never expected this type of game. Shots, naval battles, races, fights, and now, even an RPG, were part of the mix. If you add to that the numerous mini-games, the game left them with a sense of awe.
However, after a brief moment of excitement, the resulting plot left Mike and Sarah a little uncomfortable. After escaping from the castle, Cody and May encountered the adorable elephant.
"I am Rose's best friend. Do you want some cookies?"
The little elephant looked at Cody and May, forgave them, and even kindly invited them to eat. She also noticed that Cody and May seemed worried, so she took the initiative to hug them.
But what the little elephant didn't expect was that Cody and May's intention was to destroy it.
'Oh my God! Why are you trying to hurt me? I'm just a cute, beloved elephant! I love Rose, and Rose loves me! I don't want to be broken!'
The little crying elephant tried to escape in a rocket, but was hit by a rock. Between her sobs, Cody and May, believing that if their daughter cried, they could turn back into humans, destroyed it anyway.
Compared to the original version, Alex softened the cruelty here, largely because it was essential. After all, the theme of this chapter is: "What adults consider a disposable toy is a child's best playmate."
However, Alex felt that the previous level, to achieve this double irony, even made the player play the executioner, which was too much for the game itself. Therefore, Alex made all the changes in this aspect.
Even so, this left many players a little uncomfortable. In the game, a broken, adorable item was found lying in a closet. Finally, their daughter, Rose, burst into tears. Meanwhile, Cody and May, delighted, ran towards their daughter and danced in her tears. However, to their dismay, they did not transform back into humans as expected, but remained dolls.
However, they found a letter next to the bed that seemed to contain instructions on how to transform back into humans. But just then, Dr. Hagin, the man who had been causing trouble and problems, reappeared and tore the letter to shreds.
Mike and Sarah couldn't help but root for their player. Dr. Hagin had always played a guiding role in the game. However, due to his previous attempts to sabotage Cody and May's plans and his constant incitement, Mike and Sarah had developed an aversion to him.
But this scene, however, was a welcome relief for them. After all, the previous scene had been a little depressing. Mainly, the experience that players had been experiencing before this was about joy. Cody and May had been playing tricks on each other and creating problems. Along with the erratic Dr. Hagin, the entire game was like a lighthearted comedy.
Many players even unconsciously ignored the relationship between May and Cody. But this tender scene with the Queen Elephant brought them back. Although it was still a cartoonish image, without even blood, it made many players feel pity.
Of course, there was another important reason: the bosses, like the vacuum cleaner and the toolbox, who had already been defeated. They all showed a desire to attack. However, the Elephant Princess made no moves, but was very friendly. Only her men stopped Cody and May.
As for the rhino beetle from the worm mount in the heart of the tree, which Cody and May had promised to make honey for him to eat, many players ignored him. After all, he really had no sense of existence.
