Chapter 151 - Chapter 151: The Perfect Two-Player Game!

Chapter 151: The Perfect Two-Player Game!

Before experiencing It Takes Two, neither Mike nor Sarah had imagined a cooperative two-player game of this magnitude.

After a whole day of gaming, it seemed they had only experienced less than half of the content. Even in the later stages, It Takes Two maintained its earlier excitement. While the cute plot took a little bit of the thrill away and added a sense of heaviness to the journey, they were soon drawn to the even more thrilling levels and abilities.

In the cuckoo clock scene, May and Cody once again acquired two unique abilities. Cody could manipulate time and restore destroyed objects, while May acquired the ability to create clones. Just like in the previous levels, each stage required the use of their unique abilities.

There were also many impressive moments, such as soaring through the sky on a bird, which left an indelible mark on both of them.

However, during this journey, Mike and Sarah also noticed something different. The cooperation between Cody and May has become even smoother, and their bond has deepened. This was especially evident at the end of the level, when the clock exploded and Cody used time travel to help May escape, a perfect demonstration of their chemistry.

This parkour experience was as thrilling as a sci-fi movie. The final scene, where they both meet by chance, and the final scene of their daughter Rose happily looking at the repaired cuckoo clock, helped Mike and Sarah dispel some of the sadness from the previous cute story and piqued their curiosity about the subsequent plot.

After the cuckoo clock episode, it was time for another special performance by Dr. Hagin, the loud relationship expert. Under his guidance, Cody and May entered a new scene: the Snow Globe. In this level, Cody and May were equipped with a split magnet. They had to apply the principle that like charges repel and opposite charges attract to overcome difficulties.

But unlike before, after the previous cuckoo clock adventure, Cody and May's relationship seemed to have improved. Inside the snow globe, they also reminisce about the past. Standing in front of a tree with a saw stuck in it, memories came back.

"Oh, look! A saw!" "Hey, do you remember our first Christmas with Rose?" "You mean when all the Christmas trees ran out?" "Yes!" "And when we sneaked into the woods." "Did we chop down a tree?" "I thought we'd get caught."

During their adventure, the two begin to reminisce about the past. During their journey, they discover a dead town, frozen by a blanket of snow. Dr. Hagin tells them they must ring a bell to restore prosperity. Although the game doesn't mention it, Mike and Sarah, who are playing, clearly understand the metaphor. It undoubtedly refers to May and Cody's frozen hearts.

During this scene, May and Cody remember the past.

"This is where we got engaged. I was so nervous." "I know. That's what made that moment so special." "Really?" "You forgot the entire speech you had prepared." "That was the worst marriage proposal of my life." "No, I don't care what you said. I care about how you acted. You didn't try to hide your fear. That was brave."

Just as the frozen town was awakened by the sound of the bell, their relationship seemed to be mending little by little.

The town, the bell tower, the underwater candy factory: each unique scene was still a brilliant puzzle.

Finally, the two of them got on board and remembered the past.

"Finally, we can breathe." "Yes, we deserved it." "Of course!" "That's right!" "You know, we haven't had a vacation since Rose was born." "It's been a long time!" "Yeah, why didn't we go skiing together?" "Well, Rose was born then, and family expenses increased even more."

They chatted on the cable car, a level that allowed players to experience some warmth in the game. Then, the cable car went down, and Cody and May began a ski race on the ice rink.

These two thrilling ski trips were a real revelation for Mike and Sarah. Then Dr. Hagin appeared, and to their further surprise, the magnets on their bodies began to attract each other.

This was no longer a hint, but an explicit declaration.

Mike and Sarah, sitting in front of the monitor, reflected on the various themed scenes they had previously seen, realizing that none of them were completely useless. The shed and the tree briefly introduced the story and guided the player through the game. The encounters with the angry vacuum cleaner, the squirrels, and the bees subtly hinted at the couple's problematic life.

With the arrival of Rose's room, the game entered its most dramatic phase. The couple mistakenly believed that their daughter's tears were the cause of their transformation into dolls. While trying to destroy her toys to make her cry again, a toy space monkey appeared to intervene. The irony of parents trying to break their daughter's heart, while the toy itself sought to protect her, penetrated the parent-child relationship like a scalpel.

The subsequent destruction of the cute elephant brought the whole conflict to its climax: the parents' total disregard for their daughter's feelings.

But it was from that moment on that the game's rhythm changed. The cuckoo clock represents time. In the face of daily routine, will they spend enough time together?

The snowball represents attraction. What brought them together?

After passing the snowball level, they both stood there, chatting about the past, with palpable concern. Outside the snow globe, their daughter, Rose, saw the globe glow again and her sadness dissipated a little.

At that moment, Mike and Sarah realized that the game was coming to an end.

And it was.

The next garden featured new props and thrilling levels, along with a variety of fun mini-games. But what grabbed Mike's and Sarah's attention at that moment was not just the fun of teamwork; the game's story was also a key attraction.

The psychedelic purple fog, the withered and decaying branches, and the ruined walls reflected the abandoned and desolate garden. This was once Cody's most cherished place.

After defeating the boss, the purple fog dissipated, revealing lush greenery and flowers sprouting from the earth. Yellow fluorescence points floated by, showing the vibrant greenery of spring as the land came back to life. The withered garden had come back to life, symbolizing the return of Cody's old passion.

"I'm sorry, I didn't realize how much this meant to Cody. Now... I understand," May apologized to the newly bloomed garden.

But Cody, in turn, advised May: "It's not your fault, May, that you gave up gardening."

"May, no one can take away your dream except you. Will you give up now?"

Through this conversation with May, Cody understood that no one can take away his dream. Everything depends on his own decisions. Love is the driving force behind people's self-discipline; it is love that allows them to proactively discipline themselves to solve problems.

In the final scene, Cody and May, led by Dr. Hagin, arrive at the attic. The final theme is music, May's old dream.

Gongs, drums, and singing are Cody and May's special abilities in this level. Cody and May work together to overcome the level, with the help of Dr. Hagin. After finding the speakers, microphones, and lighting, defeating the flying demons, and rescuing the orchestra, the concert preparations were practically finished. All that was left was to rehearse and find an audience.

They headed to the nightclub, where Cody and his friends found their audience: a cloud of glow sticks.

With all this achieved, a truly extraordinary concert unfolded in the midst of a sea of glow sticks.

From behind the stage, May slowly made her way to the front. Overcoming her fears, May took the stage and sang with all her might. Amidst May's music, fireworks, and the cheers of countless glow sticks, Cody and May floated to the center of the stage, hugged each other, and kissed passionately.

This marked the moment when their broken relationship finally reunited.

Transformed into dolls, they finally found a way to return to normal. May, asleep on the sofa, and Cody, sprawled on the table, woke up.

While Cody and May, after repeated difficulties, rediscovered their love, their daughter, Rose, was also trying to restore her parents' love.

The young girl believed she was the root of her parents' dispute, so she decided to run away from home so they could be friends again. Of course, Cody and May finally found Rose. At the station, May and Cody took their daughter Rose's hand and slowly walked home.

The game ended there, but the cast list later offered some surprises to many players. The repaired vacuum cleaner, the organized toolbox, the relocated space monkey, the clean and flowery garden, the repaired cute elephant, the cuckoo clock on the wall, the snowball on the table, the phonograph playing music, and the book of love placed alone on the bookshelf, all brought a smile to their faces.

Seeing these scenes, Mike and Sarah, sitting in front of the monitor, also smiled faintly.

"This might be the most interesting two-player game I've played!" Mike said with some emotion.

Sarah nodded her head: "Please, remove the word 'might'!"
