Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A Fatherly Surprise for Amon

As he spoke, Luo Lin let a sliver of Nyarlathotep's power leak out, his expression deadly serious.

He wasn't a madman bent on destroying the world, but he wasn't selfless enough to sacrifice himself for a strange one either. A mutual-destruction threat suited him just fine.

This wasn't an empty bluff. Nyarlathotep's power, though dormant in Luo Lin, could unleash chaos if released. Even Luo Lin didn't know the full consequences.

Would he really do it? If Amon got him, Luo Lin doubted he'd survive. If the world was doomed anyway, better to take it down with him than let Amon profit.

Luo Lin was no saint. Saints don't threaten mutual destruction with Nyarlathotep.

The Ancient Sun God sensed Luo Lin's resolve and the dangerous aura within him. Though unclear on the details, he sighed and asked, "How can I help you?"

"First, give him a good smack. Let him feel fatherly love like a landslide," Luo Lin said, pointing at Amon earnestly.

The Ancient Sun God paused, unsurprised. He turned to Amon with a faintly apologetic smile.

If this were Amon's true body, he might've hesitated. But a clone? No issue.

He'd disciplined this troublemaker plenty for his antics before.

If the Ancient Sun God wanted to hit someone, even the Seven Gods would take it. A mere Amon clone stood no chance.

In half a minute, Amon was sprawled on the ground, battered and barely conscious. All hidden Amon clones in the area were wiped out, leaving only this main one.

Yet Amon propped himself up, looked at Luo Lin, and smirked. "Is that all?"

He knew this clone was done for but didn't seem to care much.

To Amon, as long as some clones survived, it was no big deal.

He even flashed a fake smile. "If you just want this clone gone, let me chat with my… father for a bit, and I'll hand it over."

Luo Lin wasn't surprised. He turned to the Ancient Sun God, saying earnestly, "Thank you, Mr. Sun God. As thanks, I'll fill you in on what Amon's been up to since your fall. You'd want to know what your son's done, right?"

Amon's smile froze.

Though a scoundrel, Amon knew his limits. His father was a good man in some sense, and Amon's deeds since his fall were anything but good.

He didn't think he was wrong, but like any kid facing their parent with their dark history, Amon felt resistance.

Resistance to his father learning it all. Resistance to the potential… disappointment.

This made Amon drop his smile, his face blank.

Luo Lin caught every shift, grinning. "That's it?" he taunted, proving smiles don't vanish—they transfer.

A perfect boomerang hit Amon.

"You'd better hope I don't catch you," Amon said flatly, his composure cracking.

"Don't worry. Next time, I'll have your dad beat you again. I know you love his heavy fatherly love," Luo Lin replied with a cheeky grin, inwardly relieved.

Thankfully, it was Amon. He could summon the Ancient Sun God to save the day. This "fellow transmigrator" was reliable and principled.

Anyone else, and his mutual-destruction tactic might've failed, forcing him to follow through.

Still, Luo Lin knew the Ancient Sun God only went along because Amon was in the wrong and this was just a clone. If it were Amon's true body, he'd likely only help Luo Lin escape.

"Every troublemaker has a troublemaker parent…" Luo Lin concluded, shooting the Ancient Sun God a pointed glance.

The Ancient Sun God, though unclear on the full situation, sensed Amon's evasion with his Spectator pathway instincts. He sighed. "This is…?"

"Luo Lin Zoroast," Luo Lin answered promptly. No secret there—Amon had already devoured the original owner and would've told his father anyway.

"Mr. Luo Lin Zoroast, tell me what Amon's done all these years," the Ancient Sun God asked seriously.

"No problem—" Luo Lin began, but Amon's eyes shut, his body collapsing into a pile of Worms of Time.

What?

"He's dodging?" Luo Lin gave the worms an odd look, unsurprised. Amon was notorious for shirking responsibility—fleeing here was par for the course.

With Amon's clone gone, the Ancient Sun God's projection began to waver, lacking its summoning medium.

Luo Lin wasn't too disappointed. Maintaining the projection drained his spirituality, and a figure like the Ancient Sun God could only be sustained for less than a minute.

He spoke rapidly: "Mr. Sun God, time's short. Amon ate nearly all the Parasite pathway Beyonders after your fall, toyed with people constantly, and wants to be Lord of Mysteries without saving the world. He's the worst kind of troublemaker. Beat him a few more times to teach him a lesson."

As Luo Lin finished, the Ancient Sun God's projection vanished.
