Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The smell of a stealing cat

A creature resembling a bear, yet the size of a small truck, was slowly walking.

With each step of its thick limbs, the valley seemed to emit a dull sound.

Its fur, as pure as accumulated snow, covered its entire body. In the shadows of the valley, it seemed to flow with a soft moonlight-like glow.

It had both the oppressiveness of a magical beast and a hint of sacredness, making it look very strange.

"A Moonlight Bear…"

Looking at the magical beast, even without Bartello's words, Rayn already knew what it was.

His gaze went past the Moonlight Bear to the back, where several silver-white flowers swayed with the gentle breeze.

But the petals of those flowers were closed, as if they were sleeping.

Seeing the Moonlight Bear staying close, it was obviously the Moonlight Flower.

"Ddraig."

After confirming the mission target, Rayn silently called the empress's name in his heart.

Just by looking at the magical beast, he knew that without using the Boosted Gear, it would be somewhat difficult to win.

Thinking of Wakaba observing from behind, his eyes flickered slightly.

It was also time to let Ddraig make an appearance in this world.

"This magical beast is a pretty good opponent for you, kid."

The magnetic voice echoed in his mind.

But compared to her previous domineering tone, this time it seemed a little more excited.

It seemed she also wanted to experience a long-awaited slaughter.

As for Rayn not punching Makarov before, although she was angry, since the host was Rayn, she could only sulk.

"Hmph."

Gently exhaling a breath of turbid air, Rayn's eyes became determined.

He stepped forward, tilting his neck, which immediately made a crisp sound. He clenched his fists and gently rotated them to warm up.

At this time, Wakaba, who was far away, noticed that the three of them had stopped advancing and realized there was a magical beast present.

So he immediately changed his position and soon saw the situation in the valley.

"A Moonlight Bear!?"

The moment he saw the magical beast, a look of surprise appeared on Wakaba's face.

This magical beast was considered a difficult opponent even among C-rank requests.

Not only was its strength great, but its defense was also formidable, and it could even use powerful offensive magic.

Even he would need to put in some effort to deal with this magical beast.

After all, his magic was not very good at fighting.

For a novice wizard who had just debuted, this mission was a bit beyond his scope.

"That kid is usually quite clever, he shouldn't be reckless…"

Wakaba quickly looked at Rayn's position, wanting to confirm what he was planning to do.

The next moment, he saw Rayn walking towards the valley. Judging from his appearance, he was obviously planning to fight head-on.

"Doesn't this kid see it at all???"

Wakaba's mouth opened, and the cigarette he was holding almost fell out.

But he quickly came to his senses and rushed towards the valley.

He planned to save Rayn before he was torn apart by the Moonlight Bear.

After all, this was the master's mission, not him interfering on his own accord.

The walking giant beast stopped in its tracks, its ears twitching slightly. The sound of a creature rubbing against the grass came through.

"Roar!"

Unlike other wild beasts with cloudy eyes, its eyes, like sky-blue gems, fiercely looked at the entrance of the valley, and a low warning came from its throat.

Soon, a young human came into view.

The human also looked over. The moment their eyes met, the Moonlight Bear immediately felt a strange pressure.

It was as if the person in front of it was not a human, but some powerful magical beast.

Its silver-white fur immediately stood on end as if stimulated, its four limbs slightly lowered, and its sharp fangs and claws were also revealed.

In just a glance, the Moonlight Bear had entered a fighting posture.

"Strange, what's wrong with this Moonlight Bear?"

In the woods, Bartello noticed the Moonlight Bear's posture and said strangely.

In his memory, the Moonlight Bear was not such an easily enraged magical beast.

Beside him, Kanna watched Rayn, her head slightly tilted.

"It smells of a stealing cat."

On the young man, a scent that did not belong to him was spreading.

Seeing the Moonlight Bear in a fighting stance, Rayn's mouth gradually curved into a smile.

His swinging hands hung down on both sides, and his knees sank slightly.

Magic power began to circulate in his body.

The next moment, "Bang!!!"

The ground suddenly sank, and the powerful push generated made Rayn's figure dash through the valley like an untethered horse.

The distance of dozens of meters was crossed in just a breath.

The moment he approached, a huge palm came down like Mount Tai.

The thick palm had claws with a crystal-like texture.

Neither of these was a force that Rayn, as a human, could withstand.

Making a quick judgment in his heart, Rayn did not retreat but advanced instead.

His upper body was lowered, and the muscles of his legs tensed, bursting out with even stronger power.

The soil on the ground splashed up under the force of the back kick.

But it was soon swept down to the ground by the claws swinging from above.

"Bang!!!"

A huge roar echoed through the valley, and the birds and beasts in the forest were awakened by the movement, flying up with panicked sounds.

The rushing Wakaba's pupils shrank sharply as he looked at the cracked ground under the Moonlight Bear's claws.

The beating of his heart seemed to stop at this moment.

But the next moment, that figure appeared again under the Moonlight Bear, making Wakaba's heart jump again.

"Phew."

He couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief, exhaling a large mouthful of smoke, and then he cursed with a smile.

"This kid scared me to death."

But from the looks of it, it seemed that the battle was not as one-sided as he had thought.

Wakaba planned to get closer first, and then decide whether to intervene based on the situation.

That said, even though Rayn had almost been scraped by the Moonlight Bear's swing, the shockwave still hit his back.

His expression did not change much, and his gaze was accurately locked on the Moonlight Bear's hind leg.

Bartello had said that the Moonlight Bear's movement speed was slow.

Then let's make its speed even slower!

The moment he got close, before he could launch an attack, the Moonlight Bear's entire body pressed down. It was obvious that it had sensed Rayn's figure.

"Tch."

With a dissatisfied click of his tongue, Rayn tapped his toes and dodged to the side.

The truck-like figure slammed heavily onto the ground.

Rayn, who was leaping in the air, looked at the small mountain-like body. The moment his feet landed, his fist directly stretched out.

With a twist of his waist, his whole body was like a fully drawn longbow.

"Ha!"

The sound of his exhalation was like thunder. The ground under his feet seemed to sink slightly, and his clenched fist swung out like a cannonball.

The air in front of him seemed unable to bear it, making a sharp hissing sound.

"Thud!!!"

The fist accurately hit the Moonlight Bear's knee. The powerful counter-shock directly made Rayn's feet sink a few inches.

And the silver-white fur on the target glowed with a faint moonlight.
