Lucan's POV
Lucan Draith, that has always been my name. I was one of the few werewolves to be born under the Shadow Moon line. I was trained from birth to be a prophet and illusionist. It was no surprise that I turned out to be the best among the rest. I was trusted by the Eclipse Council and everyone had their eyes on me. It was no rumor that I would be the next elder representing the Shadow Moon line.
I had escorted the elders to Alpha Kaiden's gate and I watched them bring Selene out. When others rejoiced that they had finally gotten the last Sacred-born, I could see through the scheme. It was an empty shell.
"Let's go!" The leader of the council ordered and they set to leave with their guards holding their fake Sacred-born. However, I couldn't leave, not until I met the real one. There were warriors on the walls so I knew a frontal assault would be deadly. My skill as a warrior was amateurish.
So I began to follow the elders. When the warriors couldn't see me, I disguised myself using illusion magic and gained entry into the castle. My illusion skills were so great that no one stopped me. However, finding Selene wasn't an easy feat. As she had an ancient smell and aura, I went through everywhere she had been. I followed her scent but I got to an empty space.
"Can the master of illusions fall for an illusion?" I said to myself. I closed my eyes and using my inner energy, I shattered the seal. Everything appeared bare in my eyes and I gained entry. A lady warrior came for me with a flaming sword. I grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes.
"What is your name?" I asked, shattering her mind with illusions. By now, the lady warrior must have believed I was her late father.
"Fiona," She muttered.
"My darling Fiona…" I said calmly. "Go to sleep."
With those words, she collapsed on the floor, falling asleep at once. I took a few steps forward and there she was, the true Sacred-born. Her aura and energy was intact. She was holding a broom as a weapon. From the way her hands shook, I could tell she was scared.
"Don't fear, little one," I told her carefully. "I did not come to hurt you. I came here to break your chains and watch you fly like a bird. Your fate is not to be in chains, it isn't to be imprisoned."
"Who are you?" She asked, sounding a little confident now.
"Selene…" I called her name softly. My eyes met her and my illusion magic clicked. That was what I was good at, twisting people's memories and showing them what never happened. Showing them what they wanted to believe.
Selene would see the memory of a man with a gentle face like mine offering her help in another lifetime. I stayed calm, looking at her with love filled eyes. That was enough to trick her.
"How do you know me?" Her voice was gentle as a dove this time.
I smiled, "I am Lucan, your guardian. Forgive me for coming so late. Will you follow me? I shall lead you to safety."
"But… am I not safe here?" Selene sounded quite confused.
"Follow me," I tried again without offering an explanation. I offered my hand and she grabbed it eventually. With a calm expression on my face, I led her out of the castle. We got through without being caught by the warriors while holding hands.

Kaiden's POV
"Repeat that," I muttered, unable to believe my ears. Payne fell on his knees now. He looked so afraid of my wrath.
"I believe Lady Selene has escaped from the castle, my lord," He told me. "The seal was broken when I got there and Fiona was lying unconsciously."
Angrily, I grabbed a vase and smashed it on the wall. One of the pieces cut Payne on his cheek but he didn't flinch. I was breathing heavily as I walked around.
"Is Fiona dead?" I asked carefully.
"No, she isn't," Payne replied. "I took her to the healer. Apparently, she had encountered a being higher than herself. She fainted due to the energy that clashed with hers."
I clenched my fists.
"How did Selene break the seal?" I asked. It wasn't really a question but Payne felt the need to reply.
"She is the Sacred-born, after all. I think she can do more than that," Payne responded. I shook my head in disagreement.
"Her powers haven't been fully awakened. If it has, I would feel it. Also, it is impossible that she would know how to control her power like this. This was done by an outsider," I said convincingly.
"I am ashamed, my lord. I have failed you…" Payne bent his head. I turned towards him angrily.
"Then you need to find her! I won't spare you if you don't bring her back to me alive," I told him firmly. "Her energy will still be around. Trace her immediately and bring her back!"
"Yes, my lord!" Payne exclaimed. He stared at me for a moment before adding, "However, it will be hard to trace her if she isn't in the castle. Her energy might have disappeared."
"Where is my sister?" I turned towards him.
"I am here!" I heard Vanya's voice. She came inside and sat down, making herself comfortable. Vanya was my younger sister and she was born under the Hunt Moon.
"I need your help…" I said carefully.
"You want me to help in tracking the girl you claim is the Sacred-born?" Vanya asked. It was as if she could read my thoughts.
"Will you help me?" I asked, looking into her eyes desperately. Vanya smile
d now.
"I will…" She claimed. "But you will have to meet my conditions."
