Inside the system…
"Reinstalling system…"
While Saitama was in the middle of brainwashing the liquid metal man, wave after wave of robots and metal beings traveled through time to this point—only to be, without exception, sucked toward the super electromagnetic device nearby.
Until they were all completely wiped out.
In 1984, Earth finally made it through a true crisis.
Meanwhile, somewhere else, as John Connor's parents entangled with each other—sparks flew between them as well…
When Saitama left 1984, everyone gathered to see him and the others off.
In private, the Governor quietly told Saitama that he wanted to stay in this era and protect human peace.
Saitama said, "Since that's your choice, we'll be on our way. If you have time, remember to drop by 2020 for a visit."
With a hum, Saitama and the others boarded the time machine and once again jumped back to 2020.
This trip had been incredibly rewarding. The gains were so great that even on Saitama himself, the improvement was obvious.
Hero medals, a massive boost to his attributes…
It really had been a perfect journey.
Crack!
After a lash of blue lightning, Saitama and the others returned to 2020.
But this time, as soon as they arrived, they realized that a man who looked like a Scotsman was standing in front of them.
He walked straight up to them and fired a beam of white light at Vivian.
In the next instant, Vivian collapsed into unconsciousness.
The man said, "The hero Saitama—marked by his beige coat and red cape—has returned to 2020 from the distant year of 1984. On this trip, he completely resolved the Terminator problem and created a long era of peace for humanity. But he himself does not belong to this era."
The man shrugged. "Of course, I didn't figure this out myself. This comes from a future date—recorded in a monograph your descendants wrote about you."
Saitama stared at the man in silence, still not saying a word.
The man said, "I am Rip Hunter of the Time Council. I would like to invite you to come to the future and help eliminate the human dictator, Savage."
The man in front of him looked like a white guy of Scottish descent, with a very prominent nose.
But Saitama knew full well that this look matched exactly the captain of the Waverider from the hit DC show 'Legends of Tomorrow' that streamed on iQIYI's U.S. drama section.
Saitama snatched the flash device out of Rip Hunter's hand, then woke Vivian up with it. With a completely straight face, he used Rip Hunter's own fate to talk back at him.
"In the DC comic 'Legends,' the captain of the Waverider is in the middle of forming the very first Legends team. He goes around different timelines recruiting heroes who can help him, but because of his own mistakes, the Legends end up hunted by the Time Council—and he himself dies on the run."
Saitama didn't hide anything from Vivian. He wanted her to know exactly who this man was.
The person in front of them was the very same captain from the DC show 'Legends of Tomorrow.'
Before Saitama met Rip Hunter, he'd never imagined his world could be this bizarre—that he'd one day run into characters from a TV show.
Now he knew that the journeys he was going to experience in the future wouldn't be limited to just this one "magical trip."
Rip Hunter stammered, "What—you know who I am?"
Rip Hunter was shaken. In his mind, as a member of the Time Council, it should have been impossible for anyone in this era to even be aware of his existence.
Saitama said, "Naturally."
Rip Hunter said, "In that case, I should officially ask—Saitama, will you help me?"
Just as Rip Hunter finished speaking, a system prompt popped up in front of Saitama.
"New Mission: Join the Legends team and assist Rip Hunter!
YES, OR, NO?"
Saitama looked at Vivian, then at Rip Hunter, and couldn't help thinking that his world really was chaotic.
How had the DC storyline suddenly barged into his life?
But then he remembered: he'd already experienced the Avengers, and even fought Iron Man and the others.
So taking a little trip through the DC universe now didn't sound bad at all.
It was just… Vivian…
Saitama said, "I can join your time squad—but you have to bring Vivian along."
Rip Hunter sucked in a sharp breath, but he couldn't outright refuse Saitama's condition.
"If I weren't completely out of options, you think I'd be running all over the timeline recruiting people like this?"
In the end, Rip Hunter agreed to Saitama's request.
And, at Vivian's insistence, he showed them the scene of the distant future—year 2166—where Savage led a human army to conquer Earth.
That scene was exactly the opening of the show 'Legends of Tomorrow.'
Soon after, Saitama and Vivian followed Rip Hunter aboard the Waverider.
This was Vivian's first time seeing a time ship from the future. She couldn't help but be stunned.
She was especially shocked by the massive "brain" at the Waverider's control center—a huge light-construct made entirely of glowing points.
Rip Hunter said, "This AI is called Gideon. Gideon, these are our new teammates."
Gideon said, "Welcome, human hero Saitama from the year 2020… and the future Mrs. Saitama."
Rip Hunter said, "Now that we've begun, let's start rounding up the rest of our team."
Just like in the first episode of 'Legends of Tomorrow,' Rip Hunter started searching for the people he believed could help him.
The first stop: the Green Arrow's world.
Sara, who had only recently been resurrected, was drinking alone in a mountain cabin where the air was thin.
Inside the cabin, several men were harassing a woman. Sara couldn't stand to watch any longer; she rushed over and, with a flurry of punches and kicks, knocked the men flat on the floor.
When she turned her head and caught sight of Saitama, she grumbled, "What are you staring at? You want to fight me too?"
Normally, when she said that, whoever she was talking to would avoid answering.
But Saitama simply responded, "Sure."
This completely threw Rip Hunter off.
To be honest, he'd been planning to knock Sara Lance out with the flash device and just drag her off the easy way.
Vivian, on the other hand, was worried that Saitama might not know his own strength and beat their potential recruit half to death.
What Vivian didn't know was that this Sara Lance had already been resurrected by the Lazarus Pit and trained by the master of assassins, Ra's al Ghul.
Ra's al Ghul was a legendary powerhouse.
Even the most famous hero in DC, Batman, was his disciple.
In terms of pure strength, what Sara had just shown was barely one-thousandth of her real power.
Boom!
Saitama began his first clash with the star pupil of the League of Assassins' greatest master.
Every move Sara Lance used was simple and direct. Combined with the explosive strength she'd gained from the Lazarus Pit, her destructive power was terrifying.
In no time at all, the little wooden cabin was shaking as if it might collapse at any moment.
