Chapter 490 - Chapter 490

By Saitama's estimation, Sara Lance's current physical strength was roughly on par with Captain America.

But in terms of pure hand-to-hand combat, Sara Lance's skills far surpassed Captain America's.

If Saitama hadn't gone through his Marvel journey, then facing such a powerful opponent from the DC world right now, there was a real chance he might have been beaten by Sara Lance.

But now, he felt completely confident.

Of course, just because Saitama felt that way didn't mean everyone else did.

Rip Hunter, who had just stopped him and recruited him into the Legends team, watched Saitama seemingly fall into a temporary disadvantage and couldn't help twitching at the corners of his mouth.

Not to mention that crowd of drunkards sprawled on the floor—men who had just been flattened by Sara Lance and could safely be called "the shame of manhood."

Among all these people, only Vivian had genuine confidence in Saitama.

Vivian shouted, "Saitama! Come on! Beat her!"

Sara Lance sneered. "Heh… Beauty, can't you see he's already being pushed to the edge? All I have to do is use just a bit more strength, and he'll…"

To prove her point, Sara began to increase her power.

But in the next second, her expression changed.

Because no matter how much strength she added, Saitama's power always stayed perfectly equal to her own.

"Don't tell me this man… hasn't even shown his true strength yet?"

Sara took a closer look at the group who had come to greet her.

Rip Hunter, for instance—on the surface, he was just a tourist who had wandered up to a mountain cabin.

Vivian was a cool, composed beauty.

But Saitama gave her a completely different feeling.

He felt like someone she had never seen before, someone unlike anyone else she'd met.

"Could he be someone sent from Nanda Parbat to hunt me down?"

Nanda Parbat.

A mysterious place—home of the League of Assassins.

Just thinking of the League of Assassins filled Sara with rage.

Part of her desperately wanted to forget, but those memories refused to fade.

So Sara Lance decided to end this quickly.

"Kage Satsu-ken (Shadow Killing Fist)!"

Sara chose to use the League of Assassins' ultimate fist technique against Saitama.

But she did not expect that after she unleashed a flurry of blows, her wrist would suddenly be caught in Saitama's hand.

"Alright, that's enough. Take a breather for now."

The next moment, the woman who had been as proud and stubborn as a queen—Sara Lance—found herself firmly pressed back down into her chair by Saitama.

Rip Hunter immediately seized the opportunity to explain to Sara what they were planning to do.

Meanwhile, Saitama took this chance to click the "Complete Mission" option in his system.

It turned out that stepping up to spar with Sara Lance had also been one of his system missions.

Now that he'd completed it, he received his reward—and even got a system lottery draw out of it.

On the other side…

"I refuse!"

Sara Lance's reaction to Rip Hunter's explanation was simple and direct.

Rip Hunter's expression froze. "That won't do at all!"

Saitama was speechless.

In his mind, Rip Hunter clearly had no experience dealing with women.

Facing a strong-willed woman like Sara Lance, the only effective method was to be even more forceful than she was.

So Saitama sat down beside Sara Lance and handed her a bottle of alcohol.

Sara had planned to refuse the drink Saitama offered.

But when she saw Saitama tilt his head back and chug straight from the bottle, the stubbornness in her heart made her start drinking too.

The two of them drank for a long time before Saitama finally spoke.

"Listen, gorgeous—I want you to come with us and help take down Savage."

Sara Lance, already tipsy, slurred, "Why should I?"

Saitama said, "If you don't come with me, I'll just stay here with you. Whatever you want to do, I'll get in your way. I'll keep it up until you break down inside."

There was naked threat in his voice.

Sara Lance glared at him. "You're a demon. One day, I'll beat you—and then I'll kill you."

Saitama said, "If you can really manage that."

Sara Lance poured the last of the liquor into her mouth and slammed the glass heavily down on the table.

"Fine. I'll go with you."

"System Notification: Sara Lance has joined the Legends team!"

"Legends team member count: +1!"

Second stop.

Pittsburgh.

This was where Jefferson and Professor Martin Stein lived—the two who fused together to form Firestorm.

Saitama and the others arrived outside the city.

Sara Lance said, "Let's see how you deal with them this time. I really don't believe you can convince those two."

Vivian said, "Don't be so sure. I believe Saitama can do it."

Sara Lance replied, "Tell you what, beauty—if your lover Saitama can pull this off, I'll hate him a little less. When I kill him in the future, I'll even let him keep one last breath. How does that sound?"

Vivian rolled her eyes so hard it nearly hurt.

This brown-eyed, blonde beauty—Sara Lance—was clearly a complete psycho.

Sara spread her arms and said, "Come on then, Saitama. Let me see how you persuade these scientists. I don't believe you can make them bow with your fists."

Saitama said, "Just watch quietly."

Rip Hunter watched his "team" bicker nonstop and felt a headache coming on.

For the first time, he started doubting his own abilities.

Could he really manage this team?

Pittsburgh Laboratory.

Professor Stein, who had just separated from fusion, and Jefferson suddenly heard the warning alert from the computer—there was a gunfight breaking out at a factory on the outskirts of the city.

The two of them fused once again, transforming into Firestorm.

After they had solved the problem and everything was wrapped up, the two were in the middle of an argument.

At that moment, Saitama and the others appeared before them.

Saitama said, "Honored scientists, I'd like to invite you both to join our team and help us fight a human dictator from the future. What do you say?"

Saitama's appearance—beige coat and red cape—caught their attention at once.

He went on, "You might be thinking I'm joking. But as long as you step onto our ship, you'll be able to verify everything I've said."

When Professor Stein heard Saitama's explanation about the future, he couldn't help getting excited.

"You—you're saying you're from the future?"

Saitama nodded, then turned to Rip Hunter. "Captain, show them our ship."

With a whoosh, the massive Waverider materialized right before their eyes.

Professor Stein was completely stunned.

"Th-this… this is some kind of miracle!"

But Firestorm's other half, Jefferson, quickly snapped him out of it.

He called out the nickname he'd given Stein. "Hey, Gray, don't fall for it so easily! Don't tell me you really believe they're from the future?"

Saitama shrugged. "You can test it however you like. Maybe you could try blasting the ship and see what happens?"

Rip Hunter was utterly defeated by Saitama's method of recruiting people.
