Chapter 500 - Chapter 500

In everyone's eyes, the power Damien Darhk was displaying right now was an overwhelming supernatural force.

And this kind of supernatural power had nothing to do with what they usually called "superpowers."

Superpowers came from science—you could, at least in theory, find weaknesses and counters.

Supernatural power, however, came from the unknown, from mystery itself. There was simply no way to oppose it by ordinary means.

They couldn't explain how Damien could stop a person's heart just by looking into their eyes.

They couldn't explain how he could pin someone against a wall, completely helpless, with a simple gesture of his hand.

"This makes no sense at all."

That was the conclusion of these heroes whose strength all came from technology.

Among them, the only one who had ever benefitted from the supernatural was Sara Lance—and ever since the Lazarus Pit, she had also suffered from it, again and again.

"Looks like our Mister Saitama has some confidence in beating Damien Darhk's supernatural power,"

the golden-haired, brown-eyed beauty murmured, her gaze never leaving the screen.

On the rooftop of the high-rise—

Damien still wore that slightly wrinkled, smiling face.

The terrifying power he'd just shown had already cowed a whole crowd of heroes. When they looked at that same face again, only one word came to mind: terrifying.

Saitama's voice cut through the air, cold and flat.

"So-called sorcerers are just people who use spiritual force to manipulate others.

You're only using mental power no one else can see to control their bodies and twist their minds.

"But with me, it's different. I'm confident I can break your spell."

Damien felt like Saitama was joking.

"Heh. Mister Saitama, aren't you overthinking this a little…?"

He tightened his fingers as he spoke.

"If you can break my power, then I—"

He never finished the sentence.

Damien's expression changed in an instant.

The next moment, the power he'd always believed to be absolutely invincible… was suddenly forced apart by another, even stronger force.

"W-what… what is this?!"

He barely had time to react—if he even had time at all—

Before a figure in a beige coat and red cape flashed to his side and smashed another punch into him, sending him flying once again.

It was Saitama.

As Damien went soaring, the mental pressure pinning Heat Wave and Captain Cold to the wall vanished.

They dropped like sacks of bricks, slamming into the floor for the second time.

"Motherf—! That bastard! Throwing me around twice—I'm gonna kill him!" Mick roared.

"Shut up, Mick. You can't beat him right now," Captain Cold snapped.

Then Snart turned his gaze toward Saitama.

"Care to tell me how you countered his supernatural power? Oh, wait—don't. Let me think about it myself first."

He let out a crooked, bitter smile.

"Either way, we owe you one. You did save our lives."

Saitama didn't answer.

He just stared at the giant, human-shaped hole in the outer wall of the rooftop.

"Damien Darhk, since you're back already, you might as well stop hiding and sneaking around."

Damien stepped out from the edge of the hole.

"As expected—you found me."

A thin, icy smile curled at his lips.

Anyone who'd spent time around him would recognize it instantly—it was Damien Darhk's "about to kill someone" smile.

Before, he'd wanted to savor things—take his time killing Saitama and enjoy the process.

Now, he only wanted to use his invincible supernatural power to finish Saitama off quickly.

He stared at the silver glow gathering in his palm.

"Do you see this, hero? This is a powerful spell.

"Before you, no one has ever experienced it.

"But right now, I'm using it on you.

"Shouldn't you be thanking me?"

As he spoke, Damien flung the silver light from his palm toward Saitama.

Halfway across the distance, the light split apart—

Transforming into thousands upon thousands of glowing, mystic "needles" that filled the sky.

Members of Team Arrow watching the feed couldn't help crying out in shock.

"Oh my god," Felicity gasped. "Those projectiles he's controlling… there are hundreds, thousands of times more than all the trick arrows we carry put together!"

"No wonder he always slips away when we fight him," Digg muttered.

"That bastard," Black Canary snarled. "He's been holding back the whole time—he's been treating us like toys."

Green Arrow's voice was low.

"To him, we've been nothing but little lab mice for his amusement."

Elsewhere—

"What even is this power?" Cisco said, eyes wide.

"It's stronger than any metahuman we've ever seen," Caitlin breathed.

Flash added,

"The moment he activated that spell, I felt an overwhelming force. The space around him felt… contained, wrapped by something."

Every hero linked in via comms was stunned.

And Flash's next words only deepened their shock.

"This power… it's provoking the Speed Force inside me. I can feel it—

"The Speed Force wants to challenge it."

In their eyes, Flash's Speed Force was an unbeatable power.

And now, the power Damien Darhk was showing looked just as invincible.

Realizing that shook every hero to their core.

There were still so many mysteries in this world that they knew nothing about.

When their gazes shifted back to Saitama, what they saw was almost absurd—

His fighting style was simple to the point of being plain. His attacks were straightforward, even monotonous.

Yet it was exactly this man, who relied only on his physical strength, who was standing against a seemingly invincible opponent.

Saitama was just too strong.

"Now then, Mister Saitama," Damien said lightly, "do me a favor and die, would you?

"I wish you a smooth trip to the afterlife—and don't forget to resent me with all your heart when you get there."

But Damien—and all the heroes watching—were once again stunned by what Saitama did next.

Saitama simply flicked his cape.

Boom.

A violent cloud of dust exploded outward.

Then, Saitama's lone figure walked calmly out of the gray haze.

"I'm not dying," he said quietly, "until I've beaten supernatural power itself."

With that…

He charged in again.

This time, he didn't stick to simple jabs and straight punches.

He got serious.

Shinken no Ippatsu (Serious Punch) x1!

Shinken no Ippatsu (Serious Punch) x2!

In the span of a heartbeat, Saitama unleashed a flurry of Serious Punches, hammering the self-proclaimed invincible, mysterious sorcerer straight into the ground.
