The raging energy gradually calmed. The thick smoke and firelight slowly dispersed. The main cavern where the altar stood was now unrecognizable—collapsed boulders everywhere, and scorch marks carved by energy. The Demon God clone had vanished without a trace, not even a speck of residue left behind.
But before anyone could even breathe a sigh of relief, the entire pyramid suddenly began to shake violently!
The tremor was far more brutal than anything the fighting had caused. Stones and sand began to rain down from the ceiling, as if the ancient structure was about to come apart.
"What's going on?! The altar's already destroyed, isn't it?" Peter shouted, bracing himself against a wall that was about to collapse.
Strange hovered in midair, both hands working spells as he sensed the flow of energy. His expression abruptly changed, and his sharp gaze snapped down to the deeper bedrock that had been exposed by the explosion and cave-in below.
"No—this isn't right! The source of the shaking is even deeper! The altar's destruction and the dark-energy explosion seem to have awakened something that's been sleeping directly beneath the pyramid… There's an incredibly massive, extremely ancient life energy—full of rage—waking up fast!"
Before he could even finish, Saitama had already walked to the exact center of the abnormal zone Strange had sensed. He looked down at the rock floor that was trembling without stop.
"Down there?" he muttered, then raised his fist.
No hesitation. No charging.
He simply brought his fist down, perfectly naturally, and punched the ground.
Boom!!!
A deep, muffled, far-reaching impact echoed—heavier than any collision before. The pyramid's shaking actually paused for a moment. Centered on where Saitama's fist landed, a bottomless hole several meters wide was blasted open by sheer force, revealing a darker, unknown space hidden beneath the pyramid's foundation.
A thick stench—mixed with dark energy—rushed up from the hole. Then, in the darkness, a pair of gigantic compound eyes lit up, flashing with violent red light. With a teeth-grinding scraping sound, an unbelievably massive figure suddenly thrust itself up from below!
It was a colossal sandworm, its body the size of a subway train. Its hide was covered in a hard, dark-energy-nourished, mutated chitin layer that gleamed with a dark-purple metallic sheen. Inside its gaping mouth were countless rotating layers of blade-like teeth, enough to shred any material into pulp.
It seemed utterly enraged by the commotion and the energy explosion above. The moment it surfaced, it unleashed a soundless roar toward Saitama at the hole's edge (in the vacuum environment), then violently spewed out a torrent of sand and grit like a breached flood!
That flood carried not only overwhelming physical impact—within it was also densely concentrated dark corrosive energy, enough to instantly bury and corrode an entire army.
