Chapter 61 - Destroy It

Even though my eyes were wide open, my gaze was on the ceiling, I saw nothing but void. Just like my future. Losing all the strength, I stayed on the bed, naked, while he got dressed without speaking another word and walked away, leaving me like a leaf that got trampled under him.

Grunting, I sat straight, feeling the unbearable pain all over my body. Last night, he made me serve drinks to him before serving him with my body. It made me think whatever relationship had grown between us was nothing but my imagination. Wiping away my tears, I got freshened up and tried to talk to Matthew, but he didn't pick up my calls.

I left a text, "Matt! Please call me. I am scared and worried for you."

After a few minutes, I got the reply. "All the damage has already been done. It's all my fault. I am currently being investigated for the things I've done and for things I haven't done. I can't talk to you now."

It was not his fault. It was mine. Mr. Wolfe kept warning me to be careful and behave if I wanted to protect Matthew and AcadM, but I chose to play with him, risking Matthew and his dreams.

A week had passed, but my worries never left. They only multiplied with each hour and each day that passed. My head was filled with the thoughts about Mira, Matthew, and AcadM, which made me restless and took away my sleep.

I sat in front of the dressing table, getting ready as Mr. Wolfe informed me I needed to escort him to a gathering. Even though I hated going anywhere with him, I couldn't disobey his command, as I knew if he decided on one thing, he'd do it. He wouldn't mind taking me with him even if it meant dragging me by my hair.

Consumed with the thoughts of paying the hospital bill until my sister got discharged, I started to apply my makeup. Even though a part of me kept telling me Mr. Wolfe would not permanently stop paying for the treatment, I kept recalling his anger. I had no choice but to rely on him again as Matthew was not in the position to help me or my sister. Our dreams were shattered.

I looked at the jewelry box and ran my fingers over the costliest diamonds. With one necklace's worth, people like me would survive for many years.

My gaze then fell on the gold chain Matthew gifted me before, and it only increased my sadness. I kept it safe with me but didn't dare to wear it, as I knew it'd only anger Mr. Wolfe more.

"Are you not ready yet?"

A gasp escaped my mouth, and I stood straight, scared. Quickly, I twisted my hands back, hiding the chain from him.

He narrowed his eyebrows as he walked towards me, asking, "What is that?"

"Nothing." I shook my head and started to step back while he started to come towards me. He held my hand as my back hit the dressing table. As he looked at the chain, he let out a frustrated sigh and forcibly grabbed it from my hands.

"It's mine." I tried to take it from his hands, but he threw it out of the window.

"No!"

I ran to the garden area and again took it into my hands after searching for it, but Mr. Wolfe ordered the guards after dragging me along with him, "I don't want to see this fucking thing anywhere in my place. Destroy this. If I again see this, you are all dead."

It was again taken from me despite my cries. Mr. Wolfe dragged me to the bedroom and pushed me to the bed, shouting, "Stop fucking crying for him or his things."

"How dare you!" I hit his chest, raging in fury. "It was mine. It belonged to me. You don't have the right to take what belongs to me and destroy it."

"Too bad, I already ordered them to destroy it." A smirk appeared on his lips. "What do you want me to do? Pay you back?"

He threw the jewelry box in front of me, saying, "These diamonds are worth a million times more than that cheap chain. I am paying you back with these for what I destroyed."

His arrogance disgusted me. Glaring at him, I shouted, "These may worth millions, but they'll never have a spot in my heart."

He gripped my jaw furiously as he said, "No one cares what your stupid heart wants."

Without even giving me a moment to talk back to him, he dragged me to his car and pushed me inside.

"Do not cry or fucking show your sad face in front of my clients."

"You threw away the first thing Matt gifted me, and you expect me to smile. What kind of monster are you!"

"The kind you shouldn't have messed with." His gaze briefly fell on mine. "So, do what I say if you don't want to worsen things."

We then reached the hotel where his clients were waiting for us. His grip on my waist tightened, signaling me to fix my expressions, but it became impossible for me to pretend.

All the time, I kept quiet while they talked about their business and deals. I only wanted to get out of the hotel as soon as possible and cry myself to sleep.

After an hour, the dinner was served, and I barely touched anything. Noticing it, Mr. Wolfe pushed my favorite chicken roast towards me but only earned a glare from me.

"Stop making a scene, Elira." He whispered into my ear.

The dinner went smoothly, as no one cared about me. We then walked to the parking area, silently, but all of a sudden we were surrounded by his bodyguards in a protective way, leaving me shocked.

Slowly, Mr. Wolfe and I turned around, feeling the presence of the people behind us. My eyes widened, and I took two steps back, frightened.

Matthew was in front of us with his hands clenched in fists, and he was held back by Mr. Wolfe's guards. The space between him and Mr. Wolfe was not much, and the anger on Matthew's face made me tremble.

He thought of attacking Mr. Wolfe.
