Chapter 62 - Who Do You Belong To?

I only wished the nightmare to end soon, but it didn't end. After all, it was not a nightmare but the reality. And, in reality, Matthew was ready to throw hands at the mafia leader who had his grip on the entire west.

"I trusted you. I idolized you and wanted to be like you, only for you to betray me like this." Matthew yelled while his eyes were layered with tears of anger.

Matthew's gaze and focus were totally on Mr. Wolfe, and I doubted if he noticed me. Even if he saw me, he was not in the position to think about anything.

"Matt! No…" I tried to shout, but it only came out as a whisper. My words stuck in my throat as my fear intensified.

Mr. Wolfe's gaze darkened as he looked at him furiously. "Betray you? Don't fool yourself thinking you are worthy of my betrayal. You are a cigarette butt that gets crushed under my foot."

"You!"

He tried to step forward but was again held back by Mr. Wolfe's guards. Despite trying so much, he couldn't lay his fingers on the arrogant monster in front of him.

"How naive of you to think you can attack me?" Mr. Wolfe scoffed. "Never in my life had I seen such a fool like you."

Mr. Wolfe kicked his leg, dropping him to his knees. I took a step forward, wishing to control the situation, but I halted when he shouted, "Stay where you are!"

My heart thumped in my chest while tears filled my eyes, scared of what he might do to Matthew.

Looking at him from above, Mr. Wolfe spoke, "How dare you think you can lay your filthy hand on me? Don't you even forget that without me you wouldn't be even able to come this close to me."

He hit his face furiously and grabbed his hair, making him look into Mr. Wolfe's eyes.

"You may enter the business circle, but the distance between us will always remain. You will always remain a loser."

He started to crush him mentally as well, which I couldn't take, but I didn't dare to step forward. I knew better than to stay at my place if I didn't want to anger him more and make him do things that I'd regret.

Matthew shouted, "I've struggled all my life to reach this position. That company has been my dream for many years. For someone who grew up in luxuries… you may not understand what I feel."

Tears escaped my eyes as I saw how pathetic Matthew was. An ambitious guy like him shouldn't have met me. He deserved a lot better.

"Then you should've fucking focused on your dream instead of touching what's mine." Shouting, he took his gun furiously and pointed it at him.

The bloodshed that happened at the villa during my birthday flashed in front of me, and my feet dragged me towards him.

"No!" I stood between the two men. "Please, don't."

Mr. Wolfe, burning with rage, glared at me. Gritting his teeth, he held my forearm and dragged me towards him.

When he was about to yell at me, Matthew's voice hit our ears.

"Maybe you should take your own advice."

Our gazes fell on Matthew, who looked at Mr. Wolfe in fury. Matthew continued, "You may also have dreams, right? Maybe increasing the value of your company or fucking crushing startups like AcadM. Instead of focusing on them, you've been after Elira like a puppy following its owner. Maybe you and I, we both are the same."

"Matt! Keep quiet…" I tried to stop him as he was writing his own death.

Instead of shutting his mouth, he continued to shout, "Just because you wanted to destroy a small startup, you lost a lot of money. People will talk about how foolishly you trusted the founder of AcadM even though it has been your plan all along."

His laughter echoed in the parking area, and he said, "Why? Just because she signed a contract with you? No one does all these things just because of that. You want her just like I do, and…"

Gathering his total strength, he stood straight despite Mr. Wolfe's men trying to hold him back. "You're also touching what's mine instead of focusing on your dreams and goals."

"Matt! Shut up!" I shouted, crying.

Mr. Wolfe got to know that I violated another rule by exposing our contract, but he didn't seem bothered by it.

"Yours?" Mr. Wolfe shouted. "A person can only dream!"

Both the men looked at each other angrily, as if they were challenging each other. Matthew was just a few inches away from the trigger, making my body tremble.

"Yes, mine."

Matthew was so out of his mind that instead of calming down, he only started to worsen things. It seemed he lost his will to live just like me.

"You…"

When Mr. Wolfe was about to pull the trigger, I fell to my knees, begging him to spare his life. I said, "I am begging you, Mr. Wolfe. Do whatever you want with me, but please don't kill him."

Matthew scoffed as his gaze fell on me. He said, "Instead of begging him now, you should've chosen to help me before this situation happened."

I ignored him. His words might hurt me, but death was worse.

"Then choose." Mr. Wolfe shouted. "He's so fucking confident that you belong to him. Who do you belong to, baby girl? Me? Or the bastard I am going to kill?"

I froze. I looked at Matthew, whose hopeful eyes were on me, but I couldn't dare to do it. I couldn't anger Mr. Wolfe more. One wrong move and the death would welcome us.

Biting my lips, I stood straight. "I… I choose you, Mr. Wolfe."

Matthew's face fell; it was burning with rage and confidence until a few seconds back, but I hoped he'd understand.

"Then prove it." Mr. Wolfe ordered.

He didn't have to say anything more, as I understood what he meant by that. I slowly shook my head, begging him with my eyes, but he didn't budge.

It was going to hurt Matthew.

Clenching my fist, I landed my lips on Mr. Wolfe after giving a look of apology to Matthew. As soon as my lips touched him, he grabbed my waist and pulled me closer for a deeper kiss. His hands travelled to my butt, squeezing it, which only embarrassed me. It was not just a kiss. It was to let Matthew know who I belonged to.

After breaking the kiss, I looked at Matthew, whose sadness was clearly visible on his face. He might not care even if I slept with Mr. Wolfe in his absence, but he couldn't see me kissing him in his presence.

"A lowlife like you dared to challenge me. Now, you're going to lose each and everything." Mr. Wolfe yelled at his face. Then he looked at his men, saying, "He thought of attacking me. Teach him a lesson."

He then dragged me towards his car, but before we left, he pointed at Matthew and said, "She didn't help you? She helped you more than you thought. Whatever the reason, if it weren't for her, you wouldn't even have secured a loan, let alone started your AcadM. You are even alive now because she begged for your life. You better thank her."
