Chapter 171 - Chapter 171: Convention Shenanigans

For veteran fans of two-dimensional culture, a comic convention is an absolutely familiar term and occasion.

In a sense, it's a place where one can freely express themselves, showcase their hobbies, and interact with like-minded individuals.

Various booths spread out across the exhibition center, the doujinshi sales area exuded the fresh scent of ink, the stage area pulsed with the beats of otaku dance music, and the air was a unique mixture of hairspray, cosmetics, and takoyaki.

Photographers wielding long and short lenses could be seen everywhere, chasing cosplayers for shots, and occasionally, exhibitors dragging suitcases would rush by, their metal wheels clashing against the floor tiles with urgent sounds.

Because comic conventions inherently have many cosplayers dressed as anime characters, as long as it doesn't violate public morals, wearing anything is perfectly fine.

Luka stood before the glass curtain wall of the entrance passage, looking at his dark grey Combat Psyker uniform reflected in the glass: the silver Inquisition emblem gleamed coldly on his shoulder pauldron, the psychic suppressor hanging at his waist swayed slightly with his movements, and even the wear marks on the respirator filter were perfectly replicated from the setting book illustrations—this outfit was something he had directly taken from the Rostov Astra Militarum's equipment vault, 100% authentic.

"Teacher, your warhammer Psyker cosplay is so accurate!" Two girls holding 'Girls und Panzer' ita-bags blushed as they approached, asking for a photo.

Luka cooperatively struck a pose with a sword in one hand, and hearing the exclamations of "The Power Sword's light effect actually changes color with the angle!" mixed with the shutter sound, a smile unconsciously curved his lips.

This is the magic of a comic convention; everyone will only praise 'Teacher, it's so accurate!' and won't say anything about you being strangely dressed or attention-seeking.

(Combat Psyker)

Therefore, when Luka appeared in his Astra Militarum Combat Psyker uniform, it didn't cause any ripples.

Looking around, there were swaying beast ears and flickering lightsabers everywhere; in one corner, there were even seven or eight "Narutos" in different outfits gathered together.

After all, warhammer 40k is still somewhat niche. In a place dominated by Japanese two-dimensional culture, seeing a Western game character is relatively rare.

However, when the other few arrived, their small team immediately became conspicuous.

Mai Mai swept through the crowd, her Rogue Trader cloak inlaid with void-whale bone, the boltgun model at her waist tapping against her thigh with each step, and the data streams flowing across her Gothic-style goggles were actually real holographic projections.

(Rogue Trader)

(Naval Officer)

Twilight, on the other hand, was in a Naval Officer uniform, which looked much more ordinary, provided one ignored her glowing decorative bionic eye and the servitor skull floating beside her head.

That buzzing flying skull was projecting "No Photos" warning text with a laser in the air, scaring several new attendees who wanted to take a photo into trembling.

"Relax, it's just a Bluetooth speaker." Twilight reluctantly turned off the projection, and the servitor skull immediately began looping a remix of "Imperial March."

However, when Luka's gaze fell upon 32 and Gutierrez, Luka still had an uncontrollable urge to cover his face.

Although both of their outfits had been approved and agreed upon by him, he still felt that these two were too high-profile.

32's "Baymax" was using a mechanical arm to hand out homemade small gear badges to passersby, while Gutierrez's fluorescent pink Power Armor looked like a walking disco ball under the lights.

Luka's own outfit wasn't particularly flashy; although his equipment was real, and his uniform was the standard Combat Psyker uniform of the Rostov Alien Hunters, and he was indeed a Psyker.

He was currently subtly using his psychic powers to support a nearly toppling drink stand—ever since he exchanged for Theta-grade psychic abilities, such fine control was easier than breathing.

Yes, Luka had already exchanged for the Psyker talent and Combat Psyker training; he was now a Theta-grade Combat Psyker by Imperium of Man standards.

Simply put, he could easily destroy a 3k era tank battalion on the battlefield if he wished.

He was currently staring at a sticker stand in the adjacent exhibition area, debating whether to put a Hatsune Miku decal on his Power Sword—the Warp was safe enough, wasn't it?

After all, in the 3k era, the Warp was very calm and clean. He didn't need to worry about being corrupted by the Warp or his soul emitting too strong a light in the Warp, attracting Warp demons, when using his psychic powers.

Last night, he had even observed with psychic vision; the entire city sky only had faint pink emotional mist, and the most dangerous thing was just the dark purple resentment overflowing from some gamer's room.

Coupled with the real Power Greatsword in his hand, if he just used psychic enhancement on his physical body and then charged in, even an armored regiment might not be able to stop him (Psykers are very powerful in combat; Astra Militarum Combat Psykers can easily kill Space Marines).

But this was insignificant compared to 32, who had directly brought a Baymax and dressed as a Tech-Priest.

Although 32 in the 3k era had not undergone any modifications, from her appearance, she still looked like a standard Tech-Priest.

The reason was simple: the layer of disguise she wore was a set of power exoskeleton she had crafted in the 40k era for camouflage. Although it only served a decorative purpose, it was truly an exoskeleton equipped with a Power Armor nuclear reactor.

Luka watched her use her exoskeleton fingers to light a welding torch to repair hair accessories for passersby, and suddenly felt that agreeing to her bringing this equipment might have been a mistake.

However, she hadn't added any combat weapons to this exoskeleton; it was basically just a decorative item.

And it was made of plaststeel, so it didn't look real, which was why Luka agreed to her wearing it.

As for Baymax... 32 wasn't so extreme as to bring a real Baymax. She had only made a very realistic-looking Baymax, scaled down considerably, and disguised it as if someone was inside on stilts.

Luka really couldn't say much about this. Seeing no flaws, he agreed to 32 using it.

"Mine is very normal, right? I'm the most normal one among everyone." Gutierrez, wearing a helmet, said in a muffled voice.

He hadn't done anything crazy and indeed looked the most normal of everyone, because he was dressed like a Space Marine.

If one ignored the "My Little Pony Chapter" logo spelled out in neon light tubes on his back, the Sailor Moon stickers on his fluorescent purple Power Armor shoulder pauldron, and the rotating colorful light effects on his Power Fist.

When Gutierrez activated the armor's RGB light effect mode, the lights of the entire exhibition area paled in comparison.

Of course, putting aside the color scheme, Gutierrez's outfit was not truly conspicuous, because they saw more than one Space Marine at the venue. However, others' Power Armor was made of PVC, while Gutierrez's was plaststeel, and his outfit, like 32's, was just a decorative exoskeleton.

So strictly speaking, although 32 and Gutierrez were very conspicuous, these two were truly harmless. Even if they were discovered, they could claim their strong technical skills allowed them to create an exoskeleton, which wasn't too eye-catching.

It wasn't until Gutierrez's exoskeleton started playing "Renai Circulation" that Luka finally couldn't bear it any longer and unplugged his energy battery.

"Forget it, let's just leave it at that!" Luka felt a wave of exhaustion but was too lazy to say anything more. After all, it had come to this...

"Are you guys hungry? Should we eat first?" Luka, who hadn't had breakfast yet, looked at everyone and asked.
