With 32's Big White playing "Love Circulation" and Gutierrez's Power Armor in disco mode with flashing lights, Luka simply gave up on trying to be subtle and directly pulled out electric sparks between his palm and his power sword using psychic energy.
Blue arcs of electricity danced on the blade, emitting faint crackling sounds, attracting the lenses of a circle of photographers around him.
Luka even saw a girl dressed in a Hatsune Miku cosplay outfit live-streaming with her phone, the bullet comments furiously saying, "These special effects are too real."
Since they were already conspicuous enough, being even more high-profile would actually make them less suspicious.
Luka simply let loose, allowing psychic arcs to flow around his body, forming a faint energy field.
From a distance, a girl cosplaying Raiden Shogun cast a surprised look; the purple lights wrapped around the prop katana in her hand seemed to be interfered with, beginning to flicker erratically.
After all, thanks to 32 and Gutierrez, their group looked like a bunch of performance artists, not some time traveler.
32's Big White was performing handkerchief tricks for passersby with its mechanical arm, while Gutierrez's Power Armor had activated disco mode, with the RGB lights on its shoulder pads changing color with the music. A servitor skull floated in the air, projecting "No Photos" with a hologram, but it was quickly changed to "Donations Welcome" by 32.
And speaking of which, Luka couldn't help but think, 'If I don't display this psychic energy and power sword, how will the world know I crossed over to 40k?'
So, putting on a show became a way to satisfy his self-displaying psychology and hide some unnecessary suspicions.
Luka saw an old warhammer fan taking photos of Gutierrez's rainbow Power Armor, muttering, "This paint job is so accurate, they even captured the texture of ceramite."
In fact, the cosplayers and photographers present were all just busy taking photos or dancing along with them; no one suspected their identities or the equipment they wore.
Luka even saw a girl in an EVA combat suit discussing mechanical structures with 32, not at all suspecting that this was a real Tech-Priest.
These days, cosplay props at anime conventions are getting more competitive; robots, while rare, aren't enough to cause any unnecessary sensation.
You know, at some conventions, real 'Transformers' that could transform were even brought to the site. In comparison, while 32's Big White was exquisite, it wasn't too exaggerated.
Luka recalled a convention in Shanghai last year where someone used a scrapped car to modify a transforming Optimus Prime. Although its movements were slow, it could indeed transform.
In comparison, although their group was well-equipped, it was still within a reasonable range.
However, as more and more people gathered around, Luka suddenly noticed a group of military enthusiasts with rather mixed but well-equipped gear approaching.
Although these people were dressed in various styles, they maintained standard tactical formations as they moved.
Luka even noticed that their gun-holding postures showed a practiced familiarity, like muscle memory.
The weapons and equipment of these people were varied: they wore Russian uniforms with police vests, carried John Wick-style shotguns, and wore riot helmets.
Luka saw that one of them even had a "Tactical Fat Guy" patch on his vest, but the tactical belt hanging from his waist was a genuine Crye Precision.
Or they wore flashy Taobao-style combat frog suits, held pink-sprayed HK416s, and wore head covers with "416" printed on them.
Luka noticed that although the pink HK416 looked like a prop, its handguard and grip were genuine Magpul modifications, and the stock was an LMT adjustable model.
In short, it looked very flashy and abstract, but upon closer inspection, one would find that, apart from some seemingly unimportant items, their equipment was all clearly genuine, and their way of wearing it and their movements looked very much the part, giving off a professional vibe at a glance.
One of them came up to Luka and asked for a photo together.
Luka noticed that although the other person was wearing a humorous tactical vest, the bulletproof plate was positioned very standardly, and the plate clearly had the weight of a real one.
Luka, of course, welcomed it, and for the convenience of the photo, the other party also removed the mask from his helmet, revealing his true face.
"You're Liu Yi? Are you also here at the convention? Your gear is quite professional!" Luka recognized Liu Yi and greeted him while also taking off his own face mask.
He noticed a silver parachute badge pinned to Liu Yi's tactical vest, which was a retirement commemorative medal from a certain special forces unit.
Liu Yi also smiled when he saw Luka: "What a coincidence! I didn't expect to run into you here! A few of my old comrades and I couldn't sit still, so we came here to have some fun. You know, after leaving the army, this is the only place we can wear gear and carry guns."
As he spoke, he unconsciously adjusted his shoulder strap, his movements as practiced as if he wore the gear every day.
Luka nodded slightly, not bothering to comment on why a group of retired veterans would dress so abstractly.
But he still subtly said to Liu Yi, "Your outfits are too mixed. I used to know some nylon guys who always bought used military gear."
"We have used military gear too, but when we're out having fun, of course, we do whatever makes us happy!" Liu Yi replied with a smile, then feigned surprise as he looked at Gutierrez and 32 behind Luka, exclaiming, "Are you guys cosplaying warhammer? It's so accurate! Did you make the props yourselves?"
"Yes, we made them with 3D printing, not bad, right?" Luka also responded with a smile. The happiest thing at a convention is, of course, receiving praise and recognition from others.
He noticed Liu Yi's gaze lingered on 32's Big White for a few more seconds, his eyes not looking at it like a cosplay prop, but rather like he was evaluating some military equipment.
Luka was naturally no exception; his expression made it seem like he was very pleased with Liu Yi's surprise.
But he knew in his heart that Liu Yi's surprise might not just be about the quality of the cosplay props.
Liu Yi then curiously asked, "Do you usually play warhammer? I've always wanted to get into it, but I can't find a way."
"New to the hobby? That's quite simple. We have a club. Come over later, and someone will teach you a couple of games, and you'll get it. The rest is just buying, buying, buying." Luka's answer was very simple, with a relaxed and casual demeanor.
But he noticed Liu Yi's eyes flickered slightly when he heard the word "club."
However, both parties in the conversation had already understood each other's meaning and were very satisfied with the outcome of the conversation.
Luka watched Liu Yi's retreating back, thoughtfully touching the psychic inhibitor at his waist.
And when Liu Yi walked back to his companions, he subtly said into his communicator: "Target confirmed, we can proceed with the next step."
