Despite the fact that she had told her disciple that she would find Zhun He, she wasn't able to find him. Not trace, neither physical nor spiritual was left in their territory around the mountain of their sect as she had used her power to scan the place as well, yet came up with nothing.
She had hoped that her sect members would have been able to find any trace of him and yet none of them were able to find anything, even Genshu Hao's best friend Guo Shen was frantically looking and even he wasn't able to find anything.
She felt frustrated at that as she scoured the territory and even thought about going out of there to the city near them, but decided against it as she didn't want to cause any commotions.
She looked down at the sect members who had gathered after trying to find Zhun He, which was unsuccessful as none of them were able to find anything about the disciple. Zhu Li, who was someone whom she had seen spent much of her time with the said boy, was also part of the group who were unable to find him as she frowned.
"I guess I have no choice but to ask him what happened." Yanyue Mei muttered to herself as she turned and flew to the building.
She entered through the window as the servants stationed there were surprised at her sudden entry. But she didn't care about it as she looked at Genshu Hao who is sleeping on the bed peacefully, as if he didn't have a scar on his chest and was soaked in his own blood.
She also felt the presence of the elders as she turned around and saw the elders of the sect. At the helm was the head of the Sect, her grandfather as she bowed slightly to him with her servants doing a deeper bow.
"You do not have to bow to me, Mei." Her grandfather, Yanyue Kai said to his granddaughter with a smile.
"You are the leader of our sect grandfather, this is the least I could do to show my respect." Yanyue Mei said to him as he smiled at the politeness of his granddaughter.
"Raise your head. I'm sure you wish to know about the whereabouts of that new disciple of ours?" Yanyue Kai said to her as she looked at him and nodded.
"Yes grandfather. Guo Shen said that it was Zhun He who had injured Genshu Hao, I wish to find him and get the truth out of him." Yanyue Mei said to her grandfather seriously.
"Why haven't you awoken your disciple up and asked him?" Yanyue Kai asked her granddaughter as he gestured to the boy on the bed.
"He was injured grandfather and his strength was low. I wanted him to get some rest, and I thought I could find the boy." Yanyue Mei said to her grandfather.
"I see. But I regret to inform you that you won't be able to find this Zhun He, and neither will any of us in the sect." Yanyue Kai said to his daughter seriously.
"Wh-Why? You are the elders. You must have some idea as to where he is. " Yanyue Mei asked her grandfather in shock.
"Normally that would have been the case. A young man in the Nascent soul stage would have been easy for us to find. However, it would seem that he had used an artifact to escape our sight." Yanyue Kai said to her seriously.
"So we can't find him?" Yanyue Mei asked in shock as she felt stumped.
The other elders shook their heads ruefully as her grandfather looked at her with steel in his eyes.
"Unfortunately, it would appear that this young man had managed to fool us by using his own weakness as a way to get what he wanted before leaving." Yanyue Kai said to her as she bit her lower lip when she heard that.
"Did he take anything from us?" Yanyue Mei asked him seriously.
"Aside from some herbs and natural resources that would be beneficial for cultivation, nothing. He didn't take any of our scrolls, probably to make sure that we won't keep an eye on him." Yanyue Kai said to her as she clenched her fists.
"He played us for fools." Yanyue Mei said in anger.
She remembered the classes she had taken with him after he had asked her for help in his cultivation, and she had gladly given it to him, as the thought of teaching a talented cultivator was a great thing in her eyes.
And she was guilty of becoming biased towards him as well, as a part of her was disheartened that Genshu Hao didn't have the same talent and ability that Zhun He had. She had fun teaching the boy since he was talented and she gave more importance to him, even setting aside some of her time with Genshu Hao to teach Zhun He, the allure of being one of the reasons for his cultivation was something that she liked.
And now she learned that he had vanished from their territory after joining them and gaining their resources and teachings, he was even able to get into the Nascent soul stage due to their help. And if his actions are anything to go by, then he was also responsible for the current state of Genshu Hao.
"Awaken him. We must get the truth from him." Yanyue Kai said to his granddaughter as she nodded.
Yanyue Mei turned to her student as she went to his side and sat on the bed before she started to shake his body. The other elders watched silently, only being there as spectators at the moment as something unique had happened, as they had believed that Zhun He would be a great way to elevate their sect, only for him to betray them like this.
Genshu Hao awoke after a few seconds as his eyes opened as he groaned as he blinked a bit before he fully opened his eyes and saw the ceiling. Then the memories flowed back as his eyes widened as he immediately sat up on the bed, causing Yanyue Mei to be slightly surprised at his sudden action.
His right hand flew to his chest as he touched it, feeling bare skin as he took quick breaths as he looked down and saw that his chest was whole and looked healthy.
He sighed as he felt his heartbeat slowed as he took stock of himself and saw that he is only wearing silk pants as he saw that he is on a bed. He looked to his right and saw Yanyue Mei looking at him with surprise and worry.
"Big sister." Genshu Hao said in a daze as he looked at the woman.
Yanyue Mei froze when she heard him call her that, as it has been quite a bit of time when he had called her by that title, making her quickly remember the past when he was younger and she would take care of him before she brought herself back to focus.
"Genshu Hao, what happened to you?" Yanyue Mei asked him as she knew that it was the most important question for now.
Genshu Hao blinked at her question before he looked at his chest, running his right hand over it as she watched him.
"Zhun He? Did he escape?" Genshu Hao asked as he looked at her.
"Yes. We can't find him." Yanyue Mei said to him with a nod.
"He managed to escape just like he said he would." Genshu Hao muttered to himself.
But it was still heard by the people in the room as they looked at him.
"Why did he attack you Genshu Hao? Why did you leave you so injured before going away?" Yanyue Mei asked her disciple as the elders watched him.
Genshu Hao chuckled at her words as he looked at his teacher.
"He didn't leave me injured, lady Yanyue. The only reason I am here right now is because I had the pills in my hands. Otherwise, I would've died then and there." Genshu Hao said to her as he brushed his chest.
Yanyue Mei's breath caught in her throat when she heard that and her pupils contracted at the thought of Genshu Hao dying without her even knowing about it.
"As for the reason as to why he attacked me in the first place. Well, he needed a resource from me which he can trade to potential demonic cultivator he might meet." Genshu Hao said as he looked at her.
This alarmed his master and the people in the room, as they didn't know that Genshu Hao had something that would be desired by a demonic cultivator.
"What? What did you have that would be desired by a demonic cultivator?" Yanyue Mei asked her disciple as her grandfather and the other elders watched him like a hawk.
Genshu Hao looked at his teacher and then raised his right hand and placed it over his heart and patted it with a smile. And a few seconds later the gears clicked in Yanyue Mei's mind as she gasped, while the elders also realised what he insinuating.
"My heart. He said that my heart was something that would be a great material for demonic cultivators. He had ripped it out of my body, and if it weren't for the pills, I would've died with a hole in my chest and no heart in my body." Genshu Hao said solemnly as he looked at his chest.
Yanyue Mei looked at him in horror as he confirmed her thoughts as she looked at his chest, and she remembered the wound on his chest when she got him and healed him. The thought of him not having his heart and a hole in his chest caused her to grab his chest as she felt the heartbeat as she panicked.
"I'm fine. The pills helped give me a new heart." Genshu Hao said as he looked at his teacher, and though he looked like he wanted to say more, he kept his mouth shut.
But it wasn't enough for her as she grabbed him and hugged him close to her body, feeling fear at the fact that he had been so gravely injured.
"The heart, it is an object which they would have desired." Yanyue Kai said as he looked at the other elders.
"He also said that he had managed to get the knowledge of the moon pearl pill. I think that he had come here for that specific knowledge." Genshu Hao said as his head was on Yanyue Mei's chest as she hugged him, and he didn't resist due to how tired he felt.
"He was quite eager to find that scroll." Yanyue Mei said as she remembered how the boy had acted as she tightened her hold of her disciple.
"It would be best to check our records to make sure that nothing of worth have been taken." Yanyue Kai said to the elders.
"We shall look into it leader." The elders said to the man as they bowed and moved away.
Genshu Hao watched it happen as he melted into the hold of his teacher, as it has been a long time since he had been hugged like this.
"This feels nice. Makes me nostalgic." Genshu Hao muttered to himself as he closed his eyes.
Yanyue Mei had of course heard him as she frowned and hugged him best she could, not wanting to let go of him as she stayed in that position.
'Zhun He, you will pay.' Yanyue Mei thought to herself in anger and protectiveness.
