Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Shinomiya Kaguya's Investigation

While Miyauchi Hikage was contemplating what to write in his diary for the day and tragically discovering that he could now only handle mildly spicy food, in other parts of Tokyo, after a day of development, the contents recorded in the diary were now being constantly verified by its holders.

In the mansion of the Shinomiya family, Shinomiya Kaguya, who was due to enter Shuchi'in Academy in a few days, was waiting for Hayasaka Ai's investigation report.

Last night, just as she had laid down in bed and closed her eyes, a black diary had fallen right onto her face.

At that moment, she was prepared to teach the person who had played such a prank on her a lesson they would never forget for the rest of their lives.

However, her bedroom was empty, the window was locked from the inside, and the door was tightly shut. This diary seemed to have appeared out of thin air.

And when she opened the diary with a frown and saw the text on it, which could be summarized as "Me, Tom, send money," and then, like Kasumigaoka Utaha, discovered the fact that this diary could not be damaged, could not be discarded, and had no end to its pages, as a daughter of the Shinomiya family, she only hesitated for a minute before decisively picking up a pen and starting to write in the diary.

"I am Shinomiya Kaguya. What is your purpose?"

This was a mysterious diary. Although Shinomiya Kaguya had never encountered such things, the education she had received since childhood told her not to let go of anything with use value.

Although she was a member of the Shinomiya family, the tradition within the family had always been a patriarchy. She had three older brothers above her, and she herself was born of a mistress. In the future, she would be lucky if she was given some insignificant small companies and not used by the family as a tool for a marriage alliance.

After more than ten years of family education, Shinomiya Kaguya had originally thought that she had long since accepted her fate.

But now, this suddenly appearing diary seemed to have reawakened her long-silent heart.

However, just as a sense of anticipation rose in her and she wrote this line in the diary, an emotionless prompt sounded in her mind.

"Your accumulated Reading Value is insufficient. You cannot unlock the usage rights of the diary."

This prompt that suddenly appeared in her head made Shinomiya Kaguya's body stiffen. Then she asked tentatively.

"What is Reading Value?"

There was no response.

Shinomiya Kaguya watched as the line she had just written in the diary rapidly faded away. She bit her lip and wrote her question in the diary again.

This time she received a new response.

As long as she viewed this diary every day, she could receive 1 Reading Point.

And to obtain the right to use this diary, she needed to accumulate 7 Reading Points, which meant it would take a week to unlock.

According to the prompt in her head, Reading Points seemed to have other uses, but she currently did not have the permission to know.

"Who is Tom? Does magic exist in this world?"

When this question was written in the diary, the response she got was still that she had not obtained the usage rights.

For the next half hour or so, Shinomiya Kaguya continuously wrote questions in the diary, trying to probe from various angles.

Although the vast majority of the answers she received were that she had no permission, she still managed to find out a few things.

This diary would automatically update with some new entries every day, and she could obtain Reading Value by reading them.

She could not mention the diary to people who did not possess one, and they would not notice the diary's existence. To let others see the diary, a higher level of permission needed to be unlocked.

"I am not the only one who possesses a diary, so is this permission given to me by this magician who calls himself 'Tom'? How many other people did he give this permission to?"

Just as Shinomiya Kaguya was thinking, the diary entry of over a thousand words appeared before her, completely destroying the worldview she had built up over the past 16 years.

Her habit was to be able to calm down instantly by touching her left cheek with her right hand, but even though she kept touching her left cheek, after reading the diary, she was still somewhat shaken.

She is also the female protagonist of some work, which is why she obtained this diary?

Then what is her story like?

It was just that the diary did not mention her name. Even if she wanted to analyze it, she couldn't get any useful information.

It wasn't until late into the night that she really couldn't hold back her sleepiness anymore and reluctantly went to bed for a short while.

After waking up the next day, she immediately had her exclusive maid, Hayasaka Ai, investigate the contents of the diary.

The Second Miss Yukinoshita, Kasumigaoka-senpai, the young female idol Hoshino Ai, Kamiki Hikaru, Mouri Kogoro, Edogawa Conan, Shionji Yūko, and of course, the name the diary owner had initially impersonated, "Tom Marvolo Riddle".

She handed over all the names mentioned in the diary to Hayasaka Ai to investigate.

Out of trust for Hayasaka Ai, she even tentatively mentioned the matter of the diary, only to see Hayasaka Ai act as if nothing had happened and bring her a cup of black tea.

It seemed that as long as she tried to mention the diary to others, in their eyes, her actions would be twisted into some other meaning.

This time it was just a cup of black tea. Who knows what it would be twisted into in the future.

So Shinomiya Kaguya gave up on the idea of continuing to test the diary.

Although the Shinomiya family's intelligence network was very powerful, with so many people, including foreign names and several incomplete names, by the time Hayasaka Ai delivered the information, it was already evening.

The information Shinomiya Kaguya now had in her hands was much more complete than what Kasumigaoka Utaha had found herself online.

Except for "Kasumigaoka-senpai" having five suspicious candidates, and the identity of Tom Riddle being temporarily unfindable, there were complete files on everyone else, including Edogawa Conan.

The reason there were no suspicious candidates for the "Second Miss Yukinoshita" was because in all of Japan, there was really only one Yukinoshita Yukino with the surname Yukinoshita who was the second daughter of her family and fit the age.

Holding the photos of the five "Kasumigaoka-senpais," Shinomiya Kaguya only needed a glance to lock onto the most beautiful one, Kasumigaoka Utaha.

After all, this Kasumigaoka-senpai was clearly a very popular female protagonist. Choosing the most beautiful one would surely be correct.

After reading Kasumigaoka Utaha's nearly perfect file, she then saw another impeccable file for Yukinoshita Yukino.

As expected of popular female protagonists. Although they still can't compare to me.

Shinomiya Kaguya ignored the fact that even Yukinoshita Yukino, who had almost no undulation in her chest, had a better figure than her, and looked at the files of the others.

Hoshino Ai, Kamiki Hikaru—these two names, which were heavily mentioned in the diary, were her main focus.

One was 15, the other 14. Two people even younger than her were actually playing such a big game.

One got pregnant out of wedlock, hiding it from her fans.

The other was not satisfied with just getting someone's body, but also wanted their life.

Seeing that the current intersection point of these two people was in a theater troupe called LALALAI, Shinomiya Kaguya gently touched her left cheek with her hand.

Is this Hoshino Ai a holder of the diary?

What value does she have that I can use?

Although her direction of consideration was completely different, she, like Kasumigaoka Utaha, made the decision to watch from the sidelines.

In fact, in Shinomiya Kaguya's mind, a Hoshino Ai who had given birth would probably be much easier to control than the current Hoshino Ai who had no attachments.

With these thoughts, a new diary entry refreshed in the diary before her, drawing her attention.
