Sarah stood starring at what was supposed to be her reflection but instead was a figure of the past. It had the same features as her but suddenly its appearance changed to that of a young dark skinned girl. The girl had long braided hair, dark brown eyes, she had a cold expression on her face and wore a grey school uniform and glasses.
" How are you here?" Sarah asked in a vicious tone.
"I've always been here–"
"I thought Clair was able to block you from my head," Sarah then asked, "how is it that I'm able to talk to you?"
Grace took a quick glance of what's behind her and said one word that left Sarah puzzled, "Overdose."
Sarah face was a mixture of annoyance and confusion. In a low tone she said, "Quite talking in riddles and tell me how you're here?"
" You know how I'm able to see what you do but you can't see what I do when I'm in control, is that right?"
"And do you know," Sarah replied with an impatient voice," how much you beat around the bush. Quite stalling and tell me."
" You along with Samantha were injected with the dandelions when in the facility and again you two were injected with the same substance," Grace then began to look at her fingers almost as she was bored. She then continued, "because of this I've come to find out that I'm able to take control without your permission but only when you're unconscious."
" So what happened at the church was you."
" No, I only found out about this ability during the times you were asleep which was after the incident in the forest."
" But I saw you. You even told me that I needed some help."
Grace leaned back stunned, her face was in shock and in fear; this made Sarah worried since it was the first time she saw fear on Grace's face.
Taking a deep breath Grace warned Sarah," Don't use your gift, judging what I've experienced I might not be able to turn off your gift when things get drastic."
Sarah nodded in agreement.
"Oh and one more thing. Be on your guard, it's possible that some might have survived the fire."
"What gave you that idea?" Sarah asked.
"An actor." Grace then faded and as she did she told Sarah, "Mai is in town you should pay her a visit... When you find her."
Before Sarah could say anything else her reflection was turned back to normal. Sarah then left the bathroom in annoyance and dressed to leave to the police station.
Sarah sat at the lobby waiting for the investigators to arrive. She wore an oversized green sweater, a pair of jeans, white sneakers, and oval shaped glasses and carried along her brown leather handbag.
The station was slightly bigger than the one Sarah was interrogated in at Ingola. The place had one reception but three floors, each one with their own function. Then a young lady game down from the stairs. She wore the same all-black police uniform like the rest of the officers as well as that, she wore a watch with the word 'SUBRIDE' engraved on it.
The young woman walked up to Sarah and escorted her to the interrogation room. Sarah sat there for a few hours; each question which she was asked felt similar to the ones the previous investigator in Ingola asked her.
When all was done Sarah was told to go home. But before she did she asked, "Is there any update on my sister's disappearance?"
The woman looked at Sarah with a look of amusement and replied with a question, "Didn't your sister go missing in Ingola?"
Sarah nodded yes.
"Therefore that case is for them. We have been tasked to keep a good eye on you so please feel free in this beautiful city and don't do anything that will get you in trouble okay. "
Sarah nodded again in agreement and left the station. As she walked through the streets of River city she noticed a small park. She stepped in and sat down on an empty bench which was next to the entrance.
She watched as kids played around on the swings and climbed on monkey bars. As the birds flow in the sky it made Sarah fell more worried about the whereabouts of her sister. As she sat down she was reminded of Miti's funeral and how her grandmother cried as they buried his body.
"Hey is everything alright?"
As she thought, a voice spoke from beside her. She turned to her left to her surprise she saw a young boy sit next to.
The boy had red hair, dark skin and freckles. He wore a red shirt, black cargo pants and red sneakers.
"Are you feeling alright?" The boy asked again.
"Yeah I am."
The boy had a grumpy expression on his face. Sarah had a thought that he might be the type of guy who could be in an anger management class and that his assignment is trying to connect with strangers.
The boy taking a good look at Sarah recognized her and said, "I know you. You're that Sarah girl, right? I heard what happened in the forest on the news."
Sarah felt a little uncomfortable. She knew there has to be a few people who may know about what happened. But she wasn't expecting one of them to end up running into someone who knew about the incident.
The boy noticed that Sarah was uncomfortable and apologized.
" Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. My name's Andrew Sandala. I live next to a convenient store in Coco Street."
Sarah looked at the boy with a puzzled face.
The boy noticed this and was shocked and asked, "Is this your first time being in River city?"
"Yes," Sarah replied, " I just came here yesterday."
" Oh." The boy then looked up and looked behind him and asked, "If it's okay I can show you around."
"Mmmmm."
"Don't worry, I don't bite. I'm seventeen by the way."
" I'm eighteen."
Just like that, the two began to walk with each other. Andrew showed Sarah around River city, introduced her to some places of interest she might like. As the two walked through the street called 'Lil Street.' Sarah noticed a strange graffiti on the wall which was said, ' Danda gang.'
Andrew noticed Sarah's sudden pause at the graffiti. He walked up to her and explained, "It's a gang composed of youths. It was founded seven years ago."
" Do they cause a lot of trouble?"
"Sometimes but not all the time," turning back he continued, "There's a dark rumour which goes around about these guys."
"What rumour is that?"
"That there not human."
"Is that what everyone thinks about them?"
" Most cases I've seen, whenever these guys attack someone, the dude would usually have a bunch of strange injuries and that's not the last of it. The victims also lose their memory of what happened."
" So what's your opinion on this."?
" I don't deal with this sort of stuff so I don't bother thinking about."
The two continued their walk. As they walked they stopped by a fast food restaurant and treated themselves to an early lunch. As they were inside, Sarah noticed a shady figure watch her and Andrew from a few tables behind them. They wore a black hoodie with word printed on the sleeve saying, "RED" and wore a dark face mask that covered there lower face.
" Hey Andrew by any chance, do the Danda gang have their own attire?"
Andrew looked at Sarah with a puzzled look and replied, "Yeah, it's a black hoodie with print on the sleeve saying RED. You've seen them before somewhere?"
" You could say that."
Sarah then heard Grace's voice whisper in her ear, "Sarah leave now."
Sarah quickly called for the waiter, paid the bill and dragged Andrew by his hand out of the restaurant. Andrew was confused on what's going on and pulled his hand away and asked, "What the hell is going on? Why did you have to drag me out of the restaurant like that."?
"What's the quickest way out of here?" Said Sarah while ignoring Andrew's question.
Andrew then noticed Sarah's fearful face as she asked.
" Follow me."
The two kept walking until they were in a quiet part of the street. There was hardly anyone in their homes, none of the windows were open and the place felt deserted.
"Is this really the right way?" Sarah asked.
" Unless you have a faster route, this is the way out of Lil Street."
But as they walked people suddenly came out of the houses and alley ways. But these people didn't look like they lived there, they all wore an all-black outfit and each of them wore a black hoodie with the word " RED " printed on the sleeve.
Sarah looked at Andrew. The boy was so scared that he could barely stand street but still kept a straight face. Sarah then grabbed Andrew's arm and was about to make a run for it.
But as they were running Sarah suddenly felt weak and eventually fell to the ground. Andrew noticed and tried to get her up but she still wouldn't even move.
" Sarah get up we got to go." Said Andrew.
" I don't know what's wrong with me. M-my legs... And arms. They won't move for some reason."
Soon the group came closer and surrounded the two. Andrew got up and put a stance hoping to try and fight them off. Then a young girl imaged from within the crowd wearing a black skirt and jacket.
Then all of the sudden Andrew collapsed and fell unconscious. Sarah was dumbfounded; she couldn't understand what was going. The girl then glanced at Sarah and greeted her saying, " Welcome back mwana we shetani."
And just like that Sarah fell asleep.
