Raiden Mei and Mobius stood together at the window. One was casually eating a slice of watermelon that Ye Ming had just brought over, while the other was leisurely watching the man and woman conversing at the courtyard gate.
"You have a gift, and it's for me," Ye Ming said, looking at the box held by the girl before him. "I've been waiting for you for some time. Please, accept this!"
Asagami Fuuka, the dark-haired girl, stood ramrod straight outside the gate, holding a gift box high with both hands and presenting it to Ye Ming.
"This is?" Ye Ming asked, looking at the proffered gift with a puzzled expression.
"This is the 'Three-Year Sakura' that I've been cherishing," she explained. "It's recorded in the ancient text, the Mubele Ubusan Den, that if a girl at the ages of 14, 15, and 16 uses the sakura tree she has personally cultivated for three consecutive years to make incense, and the sakura of Takamagahara blossoms, it will bless her love. I made this incense myself."
"So..." she trailed off for a moment, then took a deep breath. Gathering all her courage, her face flushing red, she confessed in a loud, clear voice, "Ye Ming, I've liked you for a long time! Please give me a chance to pursue you!"

Acheron didn't notice Mobius's gaze. Her attention was fixed on Asagami Fuuka's heartfelt confession, and her own heart was a tangled mess. Although she knew Ye Ming intended to refuse, seeing another girl confess so passionately to the boy she liked filled her with a strange panic. A part of her even wanted to stop Ye Ming from rejecting the girl. But this was Asagami Fuuka's moment, and she had no reason to interfere. Her mind was in chaos.
"Miss Fuuka, I have received your feelings," Ye Ming began, preparing to gently turn her down. "I'm very happy that a beautiful and lovely girl like you feels this way about me. But, Miss Fuuka, as you may know, my physical condition..."
Before he could finish, Asagami Fuuka interrupted him, her voice ringing with passion.
"It doesn't matter! That kind of thing doesn't matter at all!" she declared. "Ye Ming, you're so incredible, I'm sure a solution can be found someday. And I'm working hard to improve myself, too! But even if we can never find a cure, it's okay! As long as I can be with you, my heart will be happy. And I'll be happy to work hard just to see you smile!"
"Even if we can never hold hands, never hug, and are separated by a distance that can never be crossed... just being by your side, just being able to see you, is enough to make me happy and content."

"I believe you've heard her name," she continued. "She is the wielder of the Protector Blade 'Lie', Acheron. Some time ago, for her assistance in resolving a difficult matter, I granted her the title of a Valkyrie, recognizing her as its master."
Hearing this, Asagami Fuuka silently lifted her head. She saw the beautiful, purple-haired girl standing behind the window, her expression as placid as a calm lake, seemingly indifferent to everything. Yet, her eyes were locked on them.
In that instant, Asagami Fuuka understood.
"So, the rumors are true. Ye Ming and Miss Raiden... they're a couple." Her courage to compete vanished in a puff of smoke. "That's right. Only a beautiful and powerful Valkyrie like Miss Raiden is worthy of an outstanding man like Ye Ming."
"I'm sorry, Ye Ming," she said, her voice small. "It was presumptuous of me." She placed the gift on the ground and turned to leave.
