The cloaked figures shot magical spells one after another, lighting, fire, wind like fireworks on a new year eve.
Fredrick bashed into it with his towering body hoping to do some damage.
But...
The mechanical giant stood still for some reason , like it didn't even care about their attacks.
{Host, is there any reason you are not doing anything?}
(Well there are 2 reasons actually, I was just hoping to draw their aggro so we can use the scroll to get out. Well they are doing it themselves so I didn't move to protect us from the incoming spells)
(And another reason to be exact scalling their power against this thing)
{I understand host, just remember the guardian will last around another 10 minutes before dematerializing, let me know if you need anything}
Saying that the system's voice went quite.
Blake was keeping an eye at Richard and the girl till he saw them using the scroll and teleport safely along with his unconscious body.
Though the guardian was getting absolutely drowned in different spells it surprising did little damage to it.
(Well, time to return the hospitality)
The mechanical giant suddenly started to move as if someone had wind-up it's key.
It's giant hands picked up Richard as if he were a toy and tossed him up through the roof making a huge hole.
(It's so slow) Blake thought.
Well it was definitely slow, but Blake forgot to account for it's massive size. For it's huge size it was really fast, enough to give engineers headache how it can even move with what looked like someone halfheartedly put together different parts.
"What the hell! Our spells aren't even working!" One of the cloaked figure shouted in frustration.
They were absolutely terrified upon seeing Richard fly through the roof as their coordinated spell barrage started showing obvious gaps.
"Hold you positions, I'm contacting the lord!
He will be here any second now"
Blake didn't really care about them calling their boss as their spells did little to no damage to the guardian for some reason. He thought he was semi-invincible.
The guardian then opted to a standard firing position and pointed it's gun at the cloaked figures.
Seeing the mechanical giant point it's long barrel like thing at them, the cloaked figures organised in a circular pattern, which created a flower like magic circle under their feet. Then the entire group was surrounded by a purple semi transparent barrier and black twisted vines grew on top of it.
(Guess we will finally have the age old mystery solved, guns-vs-magic!)
RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-
The gun equipped with the guardian resembled an AK-47 but it shot bullets like a machine gun. It didn't even need to reload.
(Wow this feels great! I could really get addicted to this!)
Though the barrier seemed strong enough, after getting hit by a few bullets, the bullets cut through the barrier like butter.
Boom-
As if signalling the demise of the barrier a small explosion occurred shooting the cloaked figures in different direction.
"ENOUGH!" A angry voice cut through the noise.
"I was gone for a few moments and this is what I come back to?! You all couldn't even manage to keep a few kids under control !"
"And you! What even are you? Can you understand me?" The the old man who was stuck to the wall finally showed up looking straight at the guardian.
{Host, I suggest we should withdraw! He is on a different level compared to the people you encountered till now}
(Well what can he do? It's not even my body-)
Before he could finish, crimson black roots and vines popped out of the ground and started to coil around the guardians legs making it completely immobile.
"I'll be counting your lack of speech as not understanding me. Then I have no use for you."
The guardian was stuck there like a person in quicksand.
Blake didn't think much of the system's warning, pointed his gun at the old man and started drowning him in bullets.
RAT - TAT - TAT - TAT- TAT - TAT - TAT - TAT-
Blake thought he could do some damage to him as previously the cloaked figures were absolutely annihilated.
But he couldn't be further from the truth. The bullets as long as an arm were getting bounced right of the old man's face as some kind of invisible barrier was protecting him.
"It's really a shame... It's the first time I'm seeing something like this. Sorry but I can't have you run around freely here" the old man sighed
As soon as the old man finished speaking a red orb started forming in front of him, slowly condensing until it reach the size of a football. Then-
BANG-
The orb instantly shot through the visor of the guardian even before Blake could do anything.
Thrud-
The guardian plopped down like it's strings cut. Then it started vanishing into thin air.
"Well that's new...I thought only monster in dungeon do that" the vanishing of large mechanical golem into things air greatly confused the old man.
"Putting that aside. How am I going to explain this mess to them. These useless things couldn't even manage a simple ritual without me" the old man whispered angrily understand his breath.
"It's good I had backup plans ready or things wouldn't turn out well for me. Those old b*tches can really be a pain in the a*s sometimes"
"But how did the kid manage to sever my link with this body. I was a hundred percent sure he doesn't have mana, nor did he have any link with the space fragment in his body."
"And then there's this strange golem, disappearing in thin air. Something is not right, I've to investigate before I execute the back up plan"
"So many resources and a perfect plan down the drain, such a waste. Well I did find a space fragment so it's not that bad actually. Gotta keep it a secret from them for now" the old man still whispering to himself slowly exited the room not caring about anything else.
