Chapter 10 - Am I dead..?

(urghhh...My head,) Blake opened his eyes complaining about his nasty headache in his mind.

An unfamiliar white ceiling greeted him. A chandelier with intricate designs screaming luxury in it's every details.

Blake looked around with his groggy eyes searching for anything familiar, when his eyes landed on a person sitting right next to the window.

She sat by the window, the morning sunlight bouncing of her silvery golden hair, her features fine, almost delicate. Her bright golden eyes fixed on a thick book on her lap, rosy lips parted in quite though. A white dress wrapped around her softly, the light and her beauty made her appear unearthly, almost ethereal.

"Am I dead...?" Blake asked almost not believing his eyes.

"Eek!" The girl almost jumped up and dropped the book she was holding, clearly not anticipating Blake to wake up anytime soon.

"Y-you are awake..?" The girl stammered still flustered about the awkward sound she had made.

"Is this heaven..? Are you an angel..?" Blake was clearly not in his right mind.

"Heaven..? Me? An angel..?" what are you even talking about?!" The girl became even more flustered, tinge of pink dyed her snow white cheeks. She couldn't understand Blake's train of thoughts.

"W-wait here, I'll go get the priest!" The girl dashed out of the room firing those words in a quick succession.

Blake was still out of the loop and didn't react to the girl dashing out of the room.

{Hey host can you hear me?}

"Huh? ..who's talking?" Blake looked around left and right searching for the source of the voice.

{It's me your dear system~}

"System? What system? What on earth do you mean...." Blake was about to retort when his memories came flooded in, from waking up in nowhere to getting kidnapped and then piloting a giant mech...?

Yes it was bizzare, no one in their right mind would believe such contrasting events can happen in the span of a few hours. Normal people might not even come across one of such events in their entire life.

But it was as real as could have been. Blake took a moment to organise his thoughts, his head still buzzing with mild headache to now confusion.

(Hey so what happened after that old man showed up. I don't remember anything from that point)

{Host you disregarded my warning about withdrawing and kept firing bullets at him.

Then he just obliterated the guardian with blood magic, instantly cutting off your link with the guardian}

{You should thank me host or would have become a vegitable after that}

(...)

(What do you mean become a vegitable...?)

(I was just controlling the guardian, not like he could have done anything to me, right??)

{You are absolutely wrong host! Due to you being manaless I had to connect your consciousness with another method which splits your spirit(soul) into two identical halves, though still connected to one another}

{So when the old man destroyed the guardian your half spirit was also destroyed, or it should have, if not for me. I somehow managed to pull your consciousness back before he destroyed the guardian, but due to disruption in the link, I couldn't reattach your spirit immediately. Worst case scenario you would be in coma for the rest of your life!}

(....)

(....)

"WHAT?!!" Blake was so terrified that he unknowingly shouted on top of his lungs.

(Shouldn't you have said that first you stupid useless system! What if if I never woke up!)

{Well I did wanted to warm you but you said we didn't have time for that...}

{I also did warn you about the old man..}

{It's not my fault host doesn't care about the warnings}

He was absolutely stupified hearing the system's excuses. He then swore in his heart never to trust this stupid system again, or it would cost him way more than he could imagine.

Sigh*

(So how long was I out for?)

{Approximately 3 days host}

(3 whole days!)

Before he could lament any further, footsteps started echoing outside the room signalling someone's arrival.

Someone wearing gold trimmed white priest like clothes barged in hurriedly panting heavily. The face contorted in shock upon seeing Blake sitting up in the bed.

"H-how...?" That's the first thing he uttered in absolute shock.

"J-just lie down for now, I'll need to check some things"

After the priest checked Blake's vitals and did some other tests, Blake heard from the priest that he wasn't supposed to wake up, atleast not this quickly.

When the knight and the girl brought him here he was in coma, the priest's tried to heal him but to their shock his body didn't respond to the healing magic at all. Like they were trying to talk to a rock. They couldn't even determine the state he was in.

Then the doctors examined him and came to the conclusion he wouldn't be waking up anytime soon. His body was doing fine but his brain might have suffered a mana-shock which caused some internal damage.

All in all it was a short of a miracle he even survived, let alone waking up.

He also learned from the priest that he was currently in the marquessate of the Shaber.

The blue haired girl was Laurel Von Shaber also the older daughter of the marquess of Shaber and the silvery-golden haired girl was the youngest daughter Luna Shaber.

The priest told him to rest for now and left the room to bring some medicines.

(Ok, now that I have a breather, hey system)

{Yes, how may I help you host?}

(First of all what the hell is going on? What happened to my memories? I remember being from somewhere called Earth, but I don't remember myself, my family, friends nothing)

(Who was that man in the broken castle? What does he want from me? What is this place? Did he bring me here?)

Blake was firing questions one after the other not waiting for the system to answer. He was clearly frustrated.

Anyone would be, if they suddenly wake up one day to find themselves in a whole different world, forgetting their loved ones, nearly dying in a few times in a short time.

{Host just calm down for now. I'll answer what I can}
