Chapter 66 - Chapter 65: Trespassing Into The Base, Seeking Death

"Thor, do you remember the last time Heimdall reported abnormally strong energy fluctuations and demonic traces on Midgard?" Loki asked, not giving a direct answer but looking at his brother.

Thor recalled for a moment. "We tried to ask the Allfather to let us investigate, but he stopped us."

"Yes," Loki nodded. "I was very confused why the Allfather did that, so I did some investigating on Midgard and found some interesting information."

Loki's heart was a tangled mess. As a son of the Odinson family and Thor's younger brother, he never received the respect he felt he deserved. Everything about him was overshadowed by Thor's glory. Thor was like a fixed star, a burning flame, and Loki was just one of the slightly brighter satellites orbiting it. Even if his light was stronger than the others, what did it matter? He would never be as bright as the fixed star, or so it seemed to everyone. This made Loki profoundly dissatisfied.

At his core, he was proud and conceited. He believed he was no less than Thor. While Thor was indeed a powerful and fearless warrior with strong personal charisma, leading troops into every battle and inspiring all the warriors with his passionate speeches—everyone admired him, loved him, and would die for him—Loki believed that such a man could never be a king. A true king needed to rule with wisdom.

Even as a child, he could outsmart Thor. He thought his wisdom surpassed everyone else's. But no one agreed with him, and the belief that Thor would be the next Allfather was widespread. Odin, the current Allfather, never refuted it, but instead tacitly approved. This filled Loki with negative emotions, which slowly grew over time.

This led to Loki's own secret schemes. The strange events on Midgard and what he saw as Odin's abnormal behavior made him suspect something was being hidden. So, he violated Odin's order and investigated Midgard. Loki wasn't foolish enough to go to Midgard himself. Even if he could sneak away, he couldn't escape Heimdall's sight. That eagle-like gaze covered all Nine Realms, and Loki's deception magic had little effect on him. So he secretly sent people to Midgard. The results of his investigation revealed that the realm he once considered backward and ignorant was now growing and developing, and some interesting people were appearing—specifically, a so-called "god."

Loki spoke frankly about his findings, but his specific tone and expressions made everyone, including Thor, feel as though he was hiding something.

"A god?"

Thor wasn't particularly sensitive to the word. As an Asgardian, his identity was that of a god. He also knew there were many gods in the world. Besides Asgard and Olympus, there were various powerful beings with authority who could be called gods. However, the idea of a god from Midgard, a realm ruled by Asgard, felt strange to him.

"Is your dream related to this so-called god?" Loki proposed.

This made everyone think. Thor pondered for a moment. "It's possible. Midgard was in my dream, and the tragic scene is still vivid in my mind." Thinking of that horrifying sight, Thor, who had seen his share of battle and blood, couldn't help but frown. It was simply too terrible.

"And the strange energy and demons Heimdall saw were at the same time Loki's investigation found this god appeared. I think I must go to Midgard myself to investigate." Thor made up his mind.

"Thor, you know King Odin has explicitly forbidden you from investigating this matter," Sif tried to stop him. She didn't want Thor to go because she was afraid it would anger Odin and get him punished.

"Sif, you know I have to do this for the stability of the Nine Realms. Besides, the Allfather is in a deep sleep, and I can't report these things to him. I believe that if the Allfather wakes up and learns of this, he won't stop me." Thor looked at Sif and said in a low voice.

Looking directly into Thor's bright, gem-like eyes, Sif sighed. "Alright, I'll go with you."

"No, Sif. I need you to stay in Asgard and wait until the Allfather wakes up, then report the dream I foresaw to him," Thor said, shaking his head.

Sif's expression immediately soured. This oaf really didn't understand. But she didn't refuse. "I understand."

"Volstagg, Fandral, Hogun, my brothers, I need you to stay with the legion. Once the Serpent from my dream breaks through the Allfather's seal and the war begins, I need you to lead the warriors to fight him."

"Understood."

Thor then looked at Loki again. "Loki, let's go to Midgard. We will go when the time comes."

"Now..."

Thor, Sif, and the Warriors Three walked out of the building with Loki and headed for the Bifrost. They met Heimdall and asked him to send Thor and Loki to Midgard.

But Heimdall refused. The reason was simple: it was forbidden. When he had previously reported the anomaly on Midgard, Odin had ordered everyone to leave it be and forbade anyone, including Thor and Loki, from going there. When they had violated that order before, they were punished by Odin. The three of them couldn't escape responsibility.

Heimdall was the Asgardian of the Bifrost, and Odin's most loyal warrior. He would carry out Odin's orders unconditionally, and this time was no exception.

But Thor had a contagious charm, and he managed to persuade Heimdall. Even Loki found it unbelievable. He knew very well what Heimdall's duty was. The fact that Heimdall would go against Odin's orders for Thor made Loki's inner dissatisfaction grow even stronger. But as the God of Mischief, he hid all his feelings deep in his heart and showed nothing.

Neither Heimdall nor Thor noticed Loki's dissatisfaction. The two were still talking. Before sending the brothers to Midgard, Heimdall stood on the control platform, holding the hilt of his sword. Looking down at them, he said, "Midgard has had many energy bursts recently."

"Perhaps it has something to do with what you said, Thor. I will send you to the nearest burst point."

"Thank you, Heimdall," Thor said with a hearty smile, expressing his gratitude.

Heimdall's face remained expressionless. After activating the Bifrost, the brothers stepped into the energy channel and disappeared.

Heimdall stood on the central control console, remembering Odin's voice and order when Thor was trying to convince him. If it hadn't been Odin's order, he wouldn't have been so easily persuaded.

"Your Majesty Odin."

Heimdall stood like a statue, a flicker of light in his sharp, falcon-like eyes, as if he was contemplating the deeper meaning behind Odin's command while also worrying about Thor and Loki.

Yelena had mixed feelings recently—happy and unhappy.

The happy part was that since she was a child, she had been subjected to cruel training in the Red Room, a place full of indifference, brutality, and blood. The knowledge and lessons she was forced to endure, and the emotional toll they took, completely shattered the beautiful fantasies of a fourteen-year-old girl. She had lost her wonderful childhood, and a peaceful campus life was a distant luxury.

But the happy part was that the Red Room had been dissolved. A great, god-like man named Leon had taken all the girls, graduates and non-graduates alike, and given them a new life and a new purpose. They no longer felt that cold indifference. They could go shopping and study like normal people. Those who had graduated as Black Widows were now called Guard candidates and had more smiles on their faces.

They had all been injected with the super gene serum developed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, which transformed them into super soldiers comparable to the Red Guard. Their skin, bodies, and looks were all optimized, making her incredibly envious.

Fortunately, not long after, her god needed to train new guards and grant them power that only gods could wield. Many children were chosen, and she was one of them. Her base was on an island deep in the Pacific Ocean. This sea area was vast and remote, with almost no shipping routes. In short, no one paid attention to it.

Here, she began a brutal training regimen, even more intense and extreme than the Red Room. Not only did she have to punch boulders several times her size every day, but she also had to dive into the depths of the sea to endure the immense water pressure.

But here, she was happy and fulfilled. After training, she could play happily with her friends, eat delicious food, watch TV, and clearly feel her body growing stronger every day. Now, she could jump more than ten meters high.

Another thing that made her happy was that Melina had come to see her. When she was a little girl, she, her sister Natasha Romanoff, Melina, and the Red Guard Alexei had pretended to be a family for a mission in the United States. During that time, the four of them felt like a real family, and she had experienced a sense of home she had never had before. It was a shame that Natasha later defected, and the Red Guard Alexei disappeared, reportedly imprisoned. She never saw Melina again, and everyone seemed to have forgotten her.

Everything now seemed so beautiful.

The only thing that made her unhappy was that Melina's visits had become less frequent, as she was a Guard candidate who had awakened her sixth sense and needed to accumulate power. Yelena was happy for Melina but also a little envious. The cosmos was the power given to them by their god, and only their god could master it. Only after awakening the sixth sense of the cosmos could one become a member of the Guards.

She worshipped her god deeply, because she knew that this supreme being had changed her fate and that of her sisters, putting them on the same path as him, developing Madripoor and saving millions of people. For such a kind god, she swore to protect him even if it cost her everything. Her abilities were very good. Among her peers, she had the fastest growth rate in the entire base. But the instructor also said that the cosmos was a feeling that came after the body and will were tempered to the extreme, and that anyone could catch up and awaken it.

That night, Yelena went to the cliff of the island, wearing a T-shirt and a black jacket, a gift from Melina—a small pendant with a photo of her and Melina—around her neck. Listening to music through her headphones, she recorded her day in the diary on her lap. After the Red Room was disbanded, she had developed a habit of recording what she learned and writing a diary at the school in Madripoor.

Blowing in the sea breeze, watching the moon hang over the water at night, it was quiet and peaceful. She enjoyed the solitude.

But unfortunately, this tranquility was soon broken. She suddenly looked up at the sky to her left, where a dazzling, colorful beam of light fell from the sky and landed on a moon-shaped satellite island about ten miles away. The overwhelming energy within made her heart tremble. She immediately closed her diary and stood up, her expression extremely serious.

Rumble...

The light dissipated, dark clouds gathered in the sky, and thunder roared. Raging lightning flashed like silver snakes dancing wildly, obscuring the moon. A strong wind began to blow, creating large waves that crashed against the reef. A storm was brewing. A majestic aura spread from the island.

Enemy!

The thought flashed through Yelena's mind. Just as she was about to turn and run back to the base to report, she felt a more terrifying gust of wind coming from the island base. A wave of even more violent and monstrous energy rushed into the sky, nearly blowing the dark clouds away.

The next moment, a series of figures, like meteors, shot into the sky from the base and flew towards the satellite island. She raised her head and looked in that direction. The angry shout of Chief Instructor Salina reached her ears: "You're courting death by trespassing into the base!"

Boom!

Explosive energy erupted in the sky, and bright meteors streaked toward the island.
