Chapter 18 - Chapter 17

The night passed quietly, with Marco and Alessia sleeping soundly in each other's arms. The morning sunlight streaming through the windows gently woke Alessia, and she stirred in Marco's embrace.

Marco opened his eyes, smiling as he gazed at Alessia's peaceful face. "Good morning," he whispered, his voice husky from sleep.

Alessia smiled back, feeling a sense of comfort and security in Marco's arms. "Good morning," she replied, her voice soft.

They lay there for a moment, enjoying the quiet morning together. Marco's eyes locked onto Alessia's, and he said, "We should start getting ready to head back to the estate. Our honeymoon has come to an end, and my work is waiting for me."

Alessia nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. She had grown accustomed to the island's tranquility, but she was also curious about life with Marco in his world. "Okay," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

As they prepared to leave, Marco's assistant arrived with their flight details. "Your private jet is ready, sir," he said, handing Marco a folder with the itinerary.

Marco nodded, taking Alessia's hand as they walked to the jet. The flight was luxurious, with champagne and caviar served as they soared through the skies. Alessia felt like royalty, and Marco's presence beside her made her feel like she was exactly where she belonged.

As they landed and transferred to their car, Alessia couldn't help but notice the way Marco's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled. She felt a flutter in her chest, and her heart skipped a beat. She was starting to fall for him, and she couldn't deny it.

As they arrived at the estate, Alessia's eyes widened in awe. The mansion was breathtaking, with sprawling gardens and a grand entrance. Marco took her hand, leading her inside, and Alessia felt like she was stepping into a new world.

Days passed, and as Alessia explored the mansion and its surroundings, she began to feel a sense of belonging. She would often take long walks in the gardens, enjoying the beautiful views and peaceful atmosphere. Marco, though busy with work, made time for her, and they would spend hours talking and laughing together.

One evening, as Marco worked from home, Alessia sat beside him, watching him type away on his laptop. She couldn't help but notice the intensity with which he focused on his work. "You love your work, don't you?" she asked, curiosity getting the better of her.

Marco looked up, a hint of a smile on his face. "Yes, I do. It's challenging, but rewarding." He closed his laptop and turned to her. "I'm glad you're enjoying life here at the mansion. I want you to feel at home."

Alessia smiled, feeling grateful for Marco's consideration. "I do feel at home," she said, her voice soft.

As Alessia gazed into Marco's eyes, she couldn't help but notice the change in his behavior towards her. Since their whirlwind romance and hasty marriage, Marco had been nothing but respectful and considerate of her boundaries. Despite the fact for closeness, he hadn't pushed for physical contact, leaving Alessia wondering what was behind his restraint.

Was it because he had genuinely changed and grown to care for her as a person? Or was it something else entirely? The uncertainty was both intriguing and frustrating, leaving Alessia with more questions than answers.

As she pondered these questions, Alessia's feelings towards Marco began to shift. She started to see him in a different light, and her initial fear and resentment gave way to curiosity and even affection.
