"He... He's your boyfriend?"
After learning that Cassius was Wanda's boyfriend, Tony was completely petrified. He would've been happy if his friend and Wanda were together, but Cassius was the mysterious person! He never in a million years would have thought that Cassius was the mysterious man.
"Yeah, I just didn't know how to tell you before." Wanda pursed her lips and looked down, embarrassed. She knew Tony must be feeling a mix of complex emotions right now. But given the situation, she just didn't know how to tell him.
"So, Tony, is this a surprise?" Cassius raised an eyebrow at Tony, a subtle, knowing smile on his face.
"It's definitely a surprise." Tony was left with a mix of emotions—both shocked and happy. He was surprised that his good friend was so powerful and that he had been in the dark about it all this time.
If Wanda hadn't brought him back, he would never have guessed that the mysterious person was Cassius. But he also couldn't help but feel a little happy, because he knew what kind of person his friend was.
This meant he didn't have to worry about the "mysterious person" doing something to destroy the world.
The weight he had been carrying on his mind was finally gone. It was always better to deal with someone you knew. This eliminated a potential threat.
"I wanted to tell you before, but I was afraid you wouldn't be able to handle it," Cassius said with a smile, walking over to Tony and placing a hand on his shoulder. There weren't many people he could call his friends in this world, but Tony was one of them, as their personalities were quite similar.
"I probably should've figured it out a while ago. You're a pretty secretive guy," Tony said, punching Cassius lightly on the chest, a helpless smile on his face.
He had a faint feeling that something was off before. After all, the earthquake and energy fluctuations happened near Cassius's house, but nothing ever came of it. Plus, Cassius had once said that if he needed help, he could always ask him. He had thought Cassius was just an ordinary guy who couldn't help him. He also had an enhanced person with him, which was hard to get, even with money. But because Cassius was his friend, he never thought of it that way.
"I told you before that when the time was right, you'd find out," Cassius said, shrugging with a helpless tone. He really wasn't interested in what the Avengers did. Nothing was more important than his own happiness, and dealing with a bunch of things every day wasn't the life he wanted.
"So, when you said to come to you if I ever had any trouble, you weren't kidding..." Tony suddenly remembered what had happened in the hotel that day.
Even he was scared at the time, but Cassius's expression was completely calm. Even when the stone was about to hit them, he remained calm and didn't even try to dodge. He had thought Cassius was just too scared to move, but he never thought that Cassius simply knew the stone wouldn't hurt him.
"You're my good friend. If you ever need anything, I won't refuse," Cassius said, looking at Tony with a serious expression. Tony was one of his few friends, which was why he had said this.
"You're a secretive guy, but I'm still happy for you! You managed to take our Avenger's witch!" Tony said after composing himself, offering his blessing.
After all, they were both his best friends, and seeing Wanda with such a powerful being meant he didn't have to worry about her being in danger. What's more, since the mysterious person was his friend, he no longer had to worry about other powerful beings.
"Alright, let's throw a party! We should really celebrate!" Tony raised his hands. Now that he had such great news, they had to celebrate. They weren't just celebrating Cassius and Wanda, but also the fact that all the troubles they had been dealing with were finally over.
They partied all night and didn't go back to rest until dawn.
The next day, in the room in the mansion. Although he had been drinking last night, he still used his Inter-Dimensional Portal to leave the Avengers Compound.
On the clean, soft bed, Cassius groggily opened his eyes. Even though alcohol and sleep had no effect on him, he still slept honestly, as it had become a habit. He looked at Wanda's flushed face next to him and couldn't help but gently kiss her cheek.
"I should go practice Multiversal Traversal again!"
With that thought, Cassius tiptoed to the study. Ever since he had tried Multiversal Traversal that day, he had been particularly interested in it. After all, he wanted to see what other worlds were like.
However, he had to admit that Multiversal Traversal was incredibly difficult. Most magic spells were easy for him to learn with just a glance, since he had a God-Tier Magic Talent. But he had failed to master Multiversal Traversal last time; he had only been able to send his soul over. And it wasn't particularly stable, since he couldn't precisely choose a world.
"I'll try again."
Cassius recalled the contents of the Chthon Scroll. As he slowly closed his eyes, dark red and black energies slowly seeped out of his pores. The energies quickly spread around his body, turning into countless strands that flew around him.
If someone were to look at him from another angle, Cassius would look like a black and red orb. The energy slowly changed the surrounding space, and even some cracks appeared in the space around him.
Buzz...
With a soft hum, a part of the energy from his body extended down like the base of a wine glass, connecting to the ground. A faint glow quickly formed a rune on the ground, and the faint glow was like the light from a flashlight. It enveloped Cassius from the bottom up. The next second, the light burst forth, and Cassius's body instantly disappeared.
The room returned to its calm state, as if nothing had happened.
At that moment, Cassius looked at the images that were rapidly appearing around him, as well as the various colored lines that were flying past his body. It was as if he had entered another dimension. The concepts of time and worlds were flowing around him like water.
"This is it!" Cassius sensed a world and focused his thoughts. With a moment of dizziness, when he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a dark alley. A strong smell of alcohol mixed with rot entered his nose.
"I succeeded in traversing?" Cassius looked at his hands, a surprised look on his face. But he could clearly feel that his training wasn't complete yet, as he could faintly feel his original world constantly pulling him back. If he couldn't control it, he would be pulled back instantly.
Ding!
[Congratulations on successfully traversing a parallel universe!]
[Reward: Time Machine!]
[Time Machine]: Time travel is always fascinating, but please be careful, as some universes' timelines cannot be changed at will! This Time Machine can be used once every ninety days!
A Time Machine? Cassius was stunned when he heard the reward. This thing didn't seem to be very useful. After all, the timeline in Marvel couldn't be changed at will. There was the Time Variance Authority to manage it. But even the Time Variance Authority wasn't much of a threat to him.
"But where exactly am I?" Cassius focused his thoughts on this world. He wanted to see what was fun in this world and maybe bring back some gifts for Wanda.
Rumble! Bang!!!
Suddenly, a loud noise rang out in the distance, and the ground beneath his feet trembled.
"What's that sound?" Cassius frowned and turned to look. He finally took a good look at his surroundings. Although it was a small alley, it looked incredibly desolate. When he walked out of the alley, he frowned slightly.
All he could see were ruins and a desolate wasteland. The cobblestones on the street were all torn up, and the surrounding houses were in a state of disrepair. It looked as if it had been bombed, and the whole place looked like a post-apocalyptic world.
"What happened to this world?" Cassius couldn't understand what had happened here. What could have happened to make it so desolate? He couldn't even see a single living person.
Even so, he didn't plan on leaving. Now that he was here, he might as well look around. Maybe it would bring him some surprises. He was also curious about what had happened to this world.
With a single thought, he flew up into the sky. When he flew up, he saw a city with ruins and broken walls everywhere. Even the skyscraper in the distance was cut in half by something.
"It seems like this city was very prosperous before," Cassius muttered to himself. Just then, his eyes were drawn to the sky in the distance. He saw a small black dot flying in the distance.
When he frowned, he instantly saw what the thing in the distance was. It was a massive aircraft carrier that looked like a terrifying, monstrous fortress. Its cannons were aimed at the ground, constantly bombing the city.
A moment later, Cassius saw several black figures shoot out from the aircraft carrier and fly toward the ground.
"Are those..." When he saw the figures that had shot out, Cassius instantly saw what they looked like. They were completely black, with only two eyes that emitted an orange glow. Their abdomens also emitted a faint orange glow, and their bodies were covered in dense scales. Some of the black figures' right hands had turned into long cones, which had a strong sense of technology to them.
"Aren't those Sentinels?" Cassius recognized what these things were at a glance.
Sentinel robots were created specifically to eliminate mutants. During a physical attack, their right hand could turn into a long cone or a drilling tool. They had the ability to mimic Mystique's abilities, allowing them to transform their hands into various sharp weapons. Their strength was terrifying. Sentinels also had self-healing abilities, and their bodies contained no metal at all.
"Did I travel to the old timeline of the X-Men universe?" Cassius belatedly realized. The appearance of the Sentinel robots was just too iconic.
"Should I go over and have some fun?" A playful look flashed in Cassius's eyes. He was curious if these Sentinels could evolve infinitely. What's more, he had the Ancient Doomsday bloodline, which also allowed him to evolve infinitely.
Just as he was about to go over, he suddenly felt a huge suction force behind him. Before he could react, his body was instantly enveloped by the suction force. He vanished in an instant.
"Why did I suddenly come back?" Cassius looked around. This was clearly his study! He subconsciously looked at the ground, and the rune was flickering on and off. He instantly understood.
Since he had just learned this spell, it was unstable. The rune on the ground wasn't perfectly constructed, so as soon as there was a fluctuation, he would be pulled back!
"It seems like it's still a little unstable." Cassius hadn't experienced a setback like this in a long time. Both of his attempts at traversal had failed. And this was with his God-Tier Magic Talent. If he didn't have that, who knew how long it would take him to learn it? However, compared to other sorcerers, this was an almost monstrous talent.
"Cassius, are you there?" Wanda's voice came from outside the study.
"I'm coming!" Cassius pushed the door open. He saw Wanda standing outside, a look of urgency on her face.
"You should come out with me. Imelda said that Hela is looking for us." Wanda took Cassius's hand and walked toward the door. When they got outside, Cassius saw Hela with Thor and Loki already waiting for them at the door.
"Loki, aren't you dead?" Wanda was stunned when she saw Loki. If she remembered correctly, Loki should be dead.
"Don't ever believe this guy's nonsense!" Thor glared at Loki. This guy was always so mischievous.
"Is this the powerful person you were talking about?" Loki saw Cassius, a malicious smile on his face.
"Yeah. I suggest you behave," Thor said helplessly. Loki would never learn unless he was taught a lesson.
"Oh." Loki pretended to put his hand down casually. The next second, his body vanished and reappeared behind Cassius. But before he could do anything, his body shot up and was immediately pulled into the dirt. Only his head was left sticking out of the ground. This all happened in an instant.
"I told you not to challenge a powerful person," Thor said with a mocking tone.
"Hela, what are you doing here?" Cassius's eyes shifted to Hela. She should be very busy right now. The fact that she had time to come and find him surprised him.
"Odin has passed away. I would like to invite you to his funeral," Hela said. Her eyes were filled with a mix of emotions. Although she didn't like Odin, she hadn't expected the old man to just die like that.
"Odin passed away?" Cassius was stunned at first, but he quickly came to his senses. This was understandable; after all, Odin was old. But what he hadn't expected was that Hela would hold a funeral for him.
"Yes. Even though I didn't like the old man, he was the faith of all the gods of Asgard," Hela said, as if she were trying to justify herself or comfort herself. "Cassius, do you have time to attend?"
Cassius hesitated for a moment, then looked at Wanda. "We'll go together."
He was interested in seeing Asgard and the palace with his own eyes.
....
The vast universe.
A massive spaceship was flying through space.
On a throne, a terrifying figure sat, his eyes calmly scanning his surroundings.
"My Lord, now is the best time for you to carry out your great plan," Ebony Maw said, kneeling on one knee and respectfully raising the Infinity Gauntlet.
"Odin and the Ancient One are both dead. They've reached their end," Corvus Glaive said, bowing slightly, a faint smile on his face.
Next to him, Proxima Midnight also chimed in, "Now is our best chance."
Thanos remained silent. He put on the Infinity Gauntlet, and the Infinity Stones shone with a dazzling light. A terrifying aura instantly spread out, as if it had enveloped the entire universe!
