Asgard.
On a protruding balcony at the top of the palace, Hela led Cassius and Wanda as they looked down upon the realm.
Though it still looked as heavenly as ever, all the people of Asgard wore expressions of sorrow and grief. Their eyes held only sadness and death. Everyone was filled with despair.
The death of King Odin had left all the Asgardians heartbroken. To them, he was their most supreme god, the All-Father. Yet the All-Father had left them, and they had never imagined such a day would come.
In fact, everyone believed that King Odin was an immortal being. But not long after Odin passed his throne to Hela, he left them forever.
The grief of the gods intertwined, creating a faint black mist in the sky. The usual singing and dancing were gone; Asgard was now incredibly quiet. The only thing that could be heard was the occasional sob.
"The death of Odin has left the people of Asgard grief-stricken," Hela said, her expression a little odd. She hadn't expected that Odin would actually succeed in making himself a wise ruler. The Asgardians believed unconditionally that Odin was right.
However, she felt a mixture of complex emotions. She had never imagined that Odin would make everyone trust him so much. Even when she had returned to Asgard to take the throne, there were still many people who had come out to oppose her. But Odin had stopped them all, and the only thing he had said to her was to manage Asgard well.
"Odin had a change of heart in the second half of his life," Cassius said calmly as he took in the beautiful scenery.
It was true that Odin used to be brutal, angry, and violent. But perhaps when you reach a certain point, your way of thinking changes. At the very least, he had to admit that the realms had been well-protected under Odin's rule.
What's more, the person was already gone, so there was no need to keep dwelling on his past sins. And now, Hela was the one in control of Asgard.
"A change of heart? That's really a joke," Hela said with a scornful smile. Everything she had been through shouldn't have been like this. Even now, she still held a grudge against Odin. If things had gone according to the original path, she should have lived a good life like her foolish brother instead of ending up like this.
"I have to admit, he wasn't a good father," Cassius nodded slightly. Even though Odin had managed Asgard well later on, he had neglected too many other things. To be precise, he only cared about his own power and authority.
While those were necessary qualities for a king, they weren't the only ones. If it weren't for Frigga, Thor might not have grown up to be so carefree. In fact, it was probably because of Frigga that they didn't become so extreme.
"A father? I never considered him my father," Hela said, pulling her gaze back and looking at Cassius. Although she had gotten everything Odin had, she was surprised to find that she wasn't as excited as she had imagined. Instead, she felt calm, as if she was lost after having completed all her goals.
"But it's no longer important," Cassius said, shaking his head slightly. He knew what Hela had been through. There was nothing he could do to change how she had turned out. What's more, without experiencing what she had, he had no right to judge.
Rumble...
Just then, dense black clouds appeared in the sky. The clouds were constantly flashing, and countless bolts of lightning were moving within them. The black clouds quickly spread, enveloping all of Asgard.
Whoosh!
A few wet black spots first appeared on the ground. The dust was kicked up by the huge raindrops. The next second, streaks of rain began to fall from the sky. In the blink of an eye, all of Asgard was covered in rain. All they could see was the black clouds filling the sky.
As the strong winds swept through, the raindrops crashed down on the buildings of Asgard. The heavy storm made everyone present frown.
"Does... does it rain this heavily in Asgard?" Hela frowned, a look of confusion in her eyes as she watched the strange scene.
Although it rained in Asgard, it had never been this intense. And she knew that because of their godly power, they could control the rain. Even without controlling it, the special nature of Asgard would still keep the weather clear.
The strange scene made her heart beat faster, as if something bad was about to happen.
"I've... I've never seen rain this heavy in Asgard before," Thor said, reaching out from the balcony and feeling the cold raindrops. His expression became incredibly serious.
Ever since he could remember, he had never seen a storm this heavy. The heavy winds and rain had even created a thin layer of running water on the streets, flowing down the stairs and slopes.
"..."
Cassius looked at the scene, and his eyes suddenly widened. A thought suddenly popped into his mind. The last time he saw Asgard was in the MCU's Ragnarok.
Ragnarok!
He suddenly remembered something. After Odin's death, there was a great disaster that fell upon Asgard—Ragnarok!
This was the first time in a very long time that Asgard had faced such a huge blow. He hadn't expected this day to come so soon. It was completely out of his expectations.
According to the original timeline, when Ragnarok came, all of Asgard would be destroyed. And Asgard was Hela's source of power. Without Asgard, Hela would no longer be the Goddess of Death, and her powers would disappear, followed by a terrifying backlash.
Thinking about this, Cassius's expression became serious. He remembered that their only solution at the time was to fly away in a spaceship. Thor also only truly grew up after experiencing Ragnarok.
"Cassius, the food is ready. We should go back and eat," Hela said, pulling her gaze back. She suppressed the doubts in her heart and turned to look at Cassius. The most important thing now was to entertain Cassius well. If it weren't for him, she wouldn't be the queen of Asgard.
"Okay, let's go." Cassius took one last look at the pouring rain. It was as if this rain was meant to drown Asgard.
In the banquet hall, a lot of food had already been prepared. The fragrant smell of wine wafted from the Asgardian oak barrel not far away. To properly entertain Cassius, they had prepared the best food in Asgard.
After they all took their seats, Cassius took a deep breath and slowly said, "Hela, have you heard of Ragnarok?"
This was a serious matter, so he had to tell Hela immediately.
"Ragnarok?" Hela was stunned at first, and then a memory suddenly popped into her mind. "Are you talking about that legend?"
She still vaguely remembered the legend. It was said that when Ragnarok came, all of Asgard would disappear. And Asgard would be a living hell, and death would be the only thing waiting for them.
Thor raised his hand and drank the wine in his cup, looking at Cassius with a confused look. "I've also heard of that legend, but isn't that just a story?"
He had seen the legend of Ragnarok in ancient books before. But it was just a made-up legend. Although Ragnarok would be the end of Asgard, Thor didn't believe in these so-called legends. It was just too strange. He couldn't even imagine what kind of being could destroy Asgard.
Asgard had existed for so long and had gone through so many hardships. At this point, nothing could possibly threaten Asgard!
"Ragnarok is coming," Cassius said slowly, his eyes filled with seriousness.
He knew very well that in the original timeline, Ragnarok was about to happen. He didn't know the exact time, but it wouldn't be too long. And now that Odin was dead, there was no one in Asgard with a power level that surpassed Odin's. This meant they had lost their strongest trump card.
When their enemies found out about this, they would definitely not let go of this opportunity. After all, what they had been afraid of all along wasn't Asgard, but King Odin. So, the moment this news came out, the countdown to Asgard's demise began.
"..." Hela looked at Cassius, her eyes filled with hesitation. She didn't believe in this kind of strange legend, but she had to believe Cassius's words. If Ragnarok really came, she didn't know how to deal with it. After all, even though she was very powerful now, there was still a huge gap between her and Odin.
"Then what should we do?" Thor's expression also became serious. Ever since he had seen Cassius's power, he knew that Cassius was not speaking from an empty place. This matter was very likely true, and even he felt that something was not right with Asgard recently. It was as if the world was about to end.
"The culprit of Ragnarok is Surtur." Cassius didn't hold back and immediately revealed what he knew.
"Surtur?!" Thor's eyes widened. He had never expected that the culprit would be the Fire Giant!
"Yes. So we have to go after him." Cassius slowly tapped his index finger on the dining table, his voice filled with seriousness. After all, if they didn't get rid of Surtur, Asgard would still be destroyed in the end.
"Then I'll go seal Surtur!" Thor said, standing up, his voice loud. Although Surtur was a formidable opponent, he could still handle him. All he had to do was seal him, and that would be enough!
"No, we have to kill him." Cassius shook his head, instantly rejecting Thor's suggestion.
Surtur hadn't been fully resurrected yet, and he was still a threat. And sometimes, prophecies happen in the dark. There was only one way to completely change the future timeline. That was to kill Surtur directly. Only then could they ensure that Asgard wouldn't be destroyed.
"Surtur is a Fire Giant. Even Odin couldn't completely destroy his godly essence," Hela frowned. She knew how terrifying the Fire Giant was. If he could be killed, Odin would never have kept him alive as a threat.
"My sister is right. We don't have that kind of power," Thor also nodded. All they could do was seal him. Even when Odin was at his peak, he had only managed to barely trap Surtur after a great deal of effort. He couldn't even destroy him.
Although he knew that Cassius had defeated his father, it was a battle against his father in his twilight years. There was still a huge difference between the two. Even though Odin had barely restored himself to his peak with his power at the time, it was very brief, and he was far from what he used to be.
"I can do it," Cassius said faintly, his voice filled with an unshakeable confidence. Although the Fire Giant Surtur was very powerful, he wasn't invincible.
After he said this, everyone present looked at each other.
"Who wants to go with me to find Surtur?" Cassius stood up and stretched. The scenery of Asgard was beautiful, but he wouldn't just stand by and watch it be destroyed, especially since Hela was his subordinate. And besides, he was very curious about the Fire Giant Surtur. Maybe he would bring him some surprises.
"I will!"
"I will too!"
"..."
Hela, Wanda, Thor, and Loki all said they wanted to go with him. If Ragnarok was caused by Surtur, then they had to find a way to stop it.
In the volcanic lava, an endless heat wave surged, and the air was incredibly hot. Even the air was constantly twisting and deforming. But the few people walking here felt as if they were in a spring season. With every step Cassius took, a layer of frost spread around him.
"I have to say, this thing is quite useful!" Cassius said, casually using his Ice Elemental Power. Although he had the Ancient Doomsday bloodline and this temperature was nothing to him, Wanda was next to him.
"As far as I know, the Fire Giant is down there." Thor stood on a rock and pointed to a cave below.
"Then let's go down and deal with it!" Hela raised her hands, and the Nightswords instantly appeared in her hands. If this thing wanted to destroy Asgard, then they should deal with it first.
"Don't be in a hurry. That thing is coming out to welcome us," Cassius said, crossing his arms and watching with interest.
Bang!
As the lava constantly surged, countless figures crawled out from different dark corners. They were a group of Lava Monsters! They ran at an incredible speed, and a giant dragon also appeared, slowly walking out with chains on its body.
"So excited? These guys think this is a party, huh?" Hela casually threw both of her swords out. The two swords were as if they had a mind of their own, constantly spinning in the air. With the surge of green light, the moment they touched a Lava Monster, the monster would fly apart.
Wanda wasn't going to be outdone and released a wave of energy, instantly shattering the Lava Monsters that hadn't even crawled out of the cracks yet. As for Loki, he scanned his surroundings with a self-satisfied expression.
"They're all a bit hot-headed..." Thor said, feeling a little awkward. He hadn't even made a move, and the women had already taken over.
"Shh." Cassius motioned for him to stay quiet.
ROAR!!!
With a huge roar, a violent tremor came from underground. A massive body broke through the rocky ground and slowly walked out. It was a figure wearing a horned helmet. In its hand, it was dragging a Twilight Sword that emitted a deep red glow. The moment it appeared, the lava seemed to welcome its master, constantly spewing and splashing.
The Fire Giant stood towering in front of everyone. It was engulfed in flames, and the terrifying heat wave mixed with its power distorted the air. With every step, it left behind burning footprints.
