Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: The Blood of a Soldier

Inside a secret base hidden deep in the Florida swamps, Blonsky, the ace special forces soldier, was undergoing the injection of the Super Soldier Serum.

His painful screams echoed through the laboratory, but in his eyes burned a manic light.

Blonsky was already thirty-nine. He could have retired, lived comfortably as a colonel. But he never saw himself that way. He was a soldier, always a soldier.

His defeat against the Hulk in Brazil was the greatest humiliation of his life. That failure drove him to near madness. Later, he witnessed Effie's overwhelming, almost divine power. That only deepened his obsession. He craved strength, power beyond human limits.

The horrors of the magical dimension did not break him. Instead, they made him overcome his fear. After barely escaping, his will hardened even more.

He had to grow stronger. Only strength could keep him from being crushed like an insect.

General Ross provided him with the opportunity: the Super Soldier Serum.

During World War II, the project had left a legacy that shaped the Marvel world. Many ambitious men tried to revive it. Hydra, Norman Osborn, and now Ross had all attempted to recreate the formula.

But none of them had perfected it. Each version carried flaws. Ross's was no exception.

The serum boosted Blonsky's body beyond normal limits. But it also magnified his bloodlust. His desire to fight surged tenfold.

That was the nature of the serum—it amplified what lay within. Given to the righteous, it created heroes. Given to the corrupt, it birthed monsters. Just like Captain America and the Red Skull, so too would Blonsky's true self be revealed.

"How do you feel?" Ross asked gravely.

"Good. More than good. I can't wait to face that monster again!" Blonsky sneered.

"You won't have to wait long. We've tracked him down. The Roland family no longer shields him. He's alone now. Without their interference, things will be easier," Ross said darkly. He hated to admit it, but he had felt the terror of the Roland family before. The despair and helplessness were unforgettable. He swore never to feel it again.

He needed an army of super soldiers. Even if the serum was imperfect, he had to risk injecting Blonsky.

"One day, I'll crush the Roland family under my heel too," Blonsky muttered arrogantly, clenching his fists.

After leaving the Roland family estate, Bruce Banner's first destination was Culver University. He slipped into the laboratory where everything had begun.

That was where the accident had happened. All the research data was stored there. Following his memory, he unlocked the computers.

But the files were gone. Every single one.

"Damn it!" Bruce slammed his head in frustration, nearly despairing. He returned to his temporary hideout, an old friend's restaurant.

The owner, a kind old man, was also a mutual friend of Bruce and his former lover, Betty Ross.

That night, Betty unexpectedly came to the restaurant with her current boyfriend, just before closing. The old man wanted to refuse, fearing Betty might discover Bruce's presence. But he couldn't turn her away and reluctantly prepared a meal.

At that moment, Bruce returned from Culver, soaked in disappointment. He walked right into Betty.

Seeing her again filled him with excitement, but he knew he couldn't involve her. He was a fugitive. If she got caught up with him, she'd be in danger. So before she could react, he slipped out the back door.

Betty rushed outside, but he was gone. "Did I really see him?" she asked the old man desperately.

He hesitated, then sighed. "I… don't know what to say."

"Please, tell me the truth!" she pleaded.

Meanwhile, rain poured down as Bruce wandered aimlessly along the highway.

A car pulled up beside him. Betty jumped out and ran toward him. "Bruce, don't go!" She wrapped her arms around him, tears of longing flowing freely.

On a nearby rooftop, a figure in a black cloak stood silently in the storm. Not a single raindrop touched him. A dark aura surrounded his body, repelling the water.

"Hulk, I finally found you. I can't wait to see how strong you'll become once you fuse with that power," the cloaked man whispered, grinning wickedly before vanishing into smoke.

The next morning, Bruce learned Betty had secretly copied all the research data years ago. She handed him a flash drive.

Overjoyed, Bruce clutched the USB tightly. These files meant everything to him.

He prepared to head for Grayburn College to find Mr. Blue. But just as he and Betty said goodbye, military trucks roared in.

His location had been exposed. Betty's jealous boyfriend had reported him to Ross.

"Betty, stay away from me. Run!" Bruce urged frantically.

But surrounded by soldiers, escape was impossible. They cornered him inside a sealed overpass.

"Damn it!" Bruce's face twisted. He had no choice but to unleash the monster.

"Fire tear gas!" Ross ordered.

Two grenades clattered inside. Smoke filled the tunnel. Bruce's rage boiled over, and he transformed.

The Hulk smashed through the overpass like paper. His roar shook the soldiers' hearts as he tore through tanks and vehicles like toys.

Ross sent in Blonsky, enhanced by the serum.

Blonsky charged with a grenade launcher, firing rapidly, forcing the Hulk back a step.

But that only enraged the beast. Hulk ripped two massive steel plates from a structure, using them as makeshift shields. Grenade after grenade clanged harmlessly off the metal until Blonsky's ammo ran out.

He tossed the launcher aside and drew a pistol, charging again. Brave, but foolish.

He managed to last a few exchanges before Hulk's overwhelming strength became clear.

Ross saw it too. "Lure him to the sonic cannons!"

Blonsky sprinted toward the sonic trucks, Hulk pursuing recklessly.

The moment Hulk entered range, the cannons fired. Twin sonic blasts struck him, forcing him to his knees. He clutched his head and howled in agony.

"Stop! You'll kill him!" Betty begged her father.

Ross ignored her, ordering the soldiers to restrain her instead.

Seeing Betty grabbed, Hulk's fury exploded. Power surged through him as he forced himself upright, resisting the sonic waves.

He hurled a steel plate like a giant blade, slicing one of the sonic trucks in half. The remaining cannon fired desperately, but Hulk crushed it with a single blow.

Ross escalated, sending in helicopters for airstrikes.

Amid the chaos, Blonsky strode directly in front of Hulk, taunting, "Is that all you've got?"

Hulk's eyes glowed with murderous rage. He kicked Blonsky like a ragdoll, sending him flying.

The gunships closed in, raining fire. Soldiers retreated, but Betty ran toward Hulk instead.

The helicopters fired without pause, explosions tearing the ground apart.

Hulk shielded Betty with his body, refusing to let harm touch her.

Ross finally realized his daughter was within the kill zone, but it was too late.

Hulk roared, hurling another steel plate into a helicopter, shattering its rotors. The aircraft spiraled out of control.

Grabbing Betty, Hulk leapt away just as the burning wreck crashed.

"Damn it! Keep searching! We must capture the Hulk at all costs!" Ross shouted, furious and desperate.

Elsewhere, Blonsky lay broken on the ground. Miraculously, his heart still beat.

In the pouring rain, deep in a forest cave, Hulk carefully laid Betty down, not wanting to disturb her rest.

But as he moved, her eyes slowly opened.
