Chapter 114: The Clash of Titans
1,690 Words
Boom, boom, boom~~~
Two completely different, world-ending energies collided in the vast, empty space beyond the universe.
In an instant, an explosion of energy, like a cosmic big bang, surged in all directions.
Where the shockwave passed, space collapsed, stars vanished, and everything in the void of outer space around Earth was turned into nothingness. Not even a speck of dust remained.
The power of such a terrifying explosion could easily obliterate the entire Earth.
On Earth.
Humans looked up to the sky but were immediately forced to lower their heads as a blinding light pierced through the air.
The apocalyptic scene brought despair to everyone; their previous calmness vanished without a trace.
What they had thought was just a spaceship had turned into something far more terrifying.
The darkness that had already covered the entire sky shocked them, but now, the explosion, like a big bang, erupted with even more force.
Thoughts of the planet's destruction and the extinction of all things spread through every mind, leaving despair in its wake.
On the S.H.I.E.L.D. sky aircraft carrier.
"Director, our energy monitors are off the charts. This energy exceeds the largest explosions in human history by trillions of times. It could easily destroy our planet!" Agent Hill said, her face filled with despair.
"This battle is beyond us; all we can do is place our hopes on that being," Nick Fury replied, his expression equally grim.
He had never felt so powerless before, not even during the Hell Gate incident or the Battle of New York.
At least then, S.H.I.E.L.D. had been able to participate in the fight, doing whatever they could to help.
But now, they didn't even have the right to take part in the battle.
They could only watch helplessly as their home fell into ruin, unable to do anything to stop it!
This was what true despair felt like.
"Look! What's that?!"
Just as everyone was sinking deeper into despair, an incredible scene unfolded before them.
The terrifying shockwave, which had been heading straight for their planet, suddenly hit an invisible barrier at an altitude of ten thousand meters, unable to advance any further.
Not only that, it seemed as if an invisible hand had gripped the shockwave itself.
The expanding energy shockwave froze in place.
It couldn't expand any further; instead, it began to shrink back in on itself.
Until it finally turned into a tiny speck of dust, completely vanishing without a trace.
"What happened? Are we saved?"
"It must be the Life Master intervening! Only the Life Master could wield such incredible power!"
"The Life Master's divine power is vast, his divine fire eternal!"
Seeing this, everyone on the planet began to shout with excitement. They were saved!
Although they didn't understand exactly how they were saved, their instinctive belief led them to think that the Life Master had acted.
In their hearts, only the Life Master could perform such miracles.
The Life Master was the only one who could save them.
It wasn't just the general public who thought this way; even within S.H.I.E.L.D., the mood shifted.
The agents, who had previously been filled with despair, now cheered and jumped for joy.
Seeing this, Nick Fury, the director, also felt a sense of relief and joy. But mixed with his joy was a tinge of complexity.
In this complex emotion was fear, guilt, and helplessness.
The fear and guilt were specifically directed at Phils.
Thinking back, Fury now regretted investigating Phils and treating him as a threat due to his personal distrust. The very thought of it filled him with remorse.
Through these events, he had come to realize just how foolish and ignorant he had been, even arrogant.
He had always thought that S.H.I.E.L.D. could protect the world, but now he clearly understood that it was nothing more than a delusion.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had no such power or qualifications.
Perhaps from the beginning, the responsibility of protecting Earth shouldn't have been placed on their shoulders.
This responsibility should have been given to someone more qualified.
Someone like the Holy Light Order, or the group of mages on Kama Taj!
After realizing this, Nick Fury felt a rare sense of relief.
"Maybe I'm really getting old," he said, shaking his head with a wry smile.
"What?" Hill, sitting next to him, looked at Fury curiously.
"Heh, nothing. Did you see who made the move?" Fury quickly changed the subject.
Hill nodded and quickly tapped on the screen. Instantly, an image appeared before everyone.
In the image, a handsome man wearing an exquisite suit, with flowing hair and eyes that gleamed like blue jewels, suddenly appeared in front of a group of women.
This man, who appeared before the fleet girls, was none other than the Life Master, Phils!
When the fleet girls saw Phils, their faces immediately lit up with ecstatic joy.
"Welcome, our Lord, to the mortal realm!!"
All the fleet girls knelt on one knee in mid-air, their expressions filled with devotion and admiration.
Phils smiled and nodded, completely ignoring Dormammu behind him, as he looked at the fleet girls and praised them: "You've done well, my subordinates. You didn't disappoint me."
Upon hearing this, Effie looked guilty and spoke up, "Master, I made a terrible mistake. I failed to protect the Reality Stone, allowing Dormammu to steal it. This has caused the current situation. It's all my fault. Please punish me, Master."
"Heh, it's not your fault," Phils said with a smile. "If it weren't for the Reality Stone, how would this sly guy have made his appearance? I've been waiting for him for a long time."
"What?" Effie was stunned upon hearing Phils' words, but she quickly reacted.
"You mean… this was all your plan, Master?" Effie asked in disbelief.
Phils smiled and nodded, "Dormammu has coveted Earth for a long time. As long as he's alive, he will remain a huge threat to us.
So, I deliberately spread the news about the Reality Stone, and sent away all the forces from the manor, leaving only you to guard it. This was to lure him out. So, not only is this not your fault, but you've actually done a great job!
You deserve not punishment, but a reward. But let's handle the current matter first. We'll talk about the rest later."
With that, Phils slowly turned and gazed at the massive skull in the distance—Dormammu!
Hearing Phils' words, Dormammu sneered, "Such a big mouth. You set up this trap? Don't get ahead of yourself, human. You're going too far!"
Before Phils could speak, a group of fleet girls spoke in cold voices, "How dare you disrespect our Master? Do you seek death?"
"Enough. You all go and show your power to humanity. Earn more faith for your Master. As for this confused one, leave him to me," Phils said with an indifferent smile. With a wave of his hand, the fleet girls vanished, and Earth vanished with them.
This scene left Dormammu stunned. He knew that it wasn't just Earth and the fleet girls that disappeared.
What truly disappeared was him and the human in front of him.
He couldn't believe that this man had the power to move the entire space.
"You're wrong. This is not space transfer. I've created a new space. Here, there's nothing. No matter what kind of aftershock our battle causes, no one else will be affected," Phils said with a smile, looking at Dormammu.
"You!!!" Dormammu's face twisted with shock. How had this man known exactly what he was thinking? How powerful was he?
"I'm no god, just a late-stage Mid-level True God. You might call me Universe-level," Phils said with a faint smile.
"You're bluffing! You think a mere space can scare me? I'm not afraid of you! Die!!" Dormammu roared, his fury giving birth to a crimson light as he unleashed the power of the Reality Stone.
He tried to use the Reality Stone's power to break open the space prison Phils had created, but he was mistaken.
Dormammu had the Reality Stone, but Phils had three Infinity Stones.
Between the six Infinity Stones, there was no clear superiority. The strength and weakness depended entirely on who wielded them.
Whoever knew how to use them would be strong; those who didn't would suffer.
As Dormammu tried to break open the space prison, a blue light suddenly flashed inside the space, releasing an immense energy that neutralized the Reality Stone's power in an instant.
Seeing this, Dormammu's face twisted with disbelief.
"You have an Infinity Stone too!" Dormammu sneered, glaring at Phils.
"You're wrong again. Not just one, but three. So, are you feeling hopeless now?" Phils said with a smirk, his tone full of mockery.
"!!!!" Dormammu.
"Impossible! How could you?" Dormammu's face twisted with fear. Even someone as powerful as him started to panic.
One Infinity Stone had already elevated his power to unimaginable heights. What would it be like with three?
He couldn't even dare to imagine.
"Now you have two choices," Phils said, his expression turning cold.
"First, hand over the Reality Stone, and sign a soul contract with me. From then on, you'll serve me loyally as my most devoted servant. If you do, I will spare your life. You're a good fighter after all."
"Second, I'll kill you, take the Reality Stone, and become the new ruler of the Dark Dimension."
"Now, choose. I'd
suggest the first option. You'll avoid a lot of pain," Phils said, his tone completely relaxed.
Dormammu's expression twisted with rage, humiliation, and madness.
He had never been humiliated like this. Not in a million years.
"You dare?! You, a mere human, threaten me like this?!" Dormammu shouted, his eyes full of rage.
Phils just smiled, his expression calm.
The battle was about to begin.
