Chapter 129 - Chapter 129: The Rise of the Goddess of Death

In the Fairy Constellation, on planet Z-001, a world of primitive technology far behind Earth, an unexpected story unfolded.

Years ago, Carol was ambushed during a rescue mission and forced to hide on this planet to recover from her wounds. It was here that she met several good friends, forming a bond with the planet.

What she never imagined was that this seemingly insignificant planet would one day be chosen by the Silver Surfer as food for Galactus.

In order to save Z-001, she had no choice but to fight the Silver Surfer head-on. But with her strength alone, it was impossible to be his match.

Desperate, she sought help. During her search, she accidentally learned of the Lord of Life while on the planet Vulcan in the Centauri system. That discovery changed everything.

Thanks to the Lord of Life, they successfully drove the Silver Surfer away and saved Z-001 from destruction. Their battle was so shocking that all the natives of Z-001 were left speechless, watching gods clash in their skies.

To the primitive minds of Z-001, things beyond understanding could only be seen as miracles. And miracles became myths. Thus, Carol and her allies were worshiped as divine beings.

Because of this, establishing the faith of the Lord of Life on Z-001 was unprecedentedly smooth. Within less than a single local month, eighty percent of the natives had already begun worshiping the Lord of Life.

Not just Z-001, but also Xandar and Earth experienced rapid growth in believers.

On Earth, Roland Phils immediately felt the change, his heart filled with joy.

Believer Status:

Saints: 17 Apostles: 100,002 Zealots: 6 million Devoted Believers: 500 million True Believers: 6.01 billion Shallow Believers: 6 billion

Each of the three planets had populations similar to Earth, about six billion each, totaling 18 billion. With that population base, it was natural for Roland Phils to gain such massive numbers of followers.

By the rules, shallow believers did not provide faith power. Only true believers and above contributed.

6 billion true believers meant 6 billion points of faith. 500 million devoted believers meant 1 billion points of faith. 6 million zealots meant 60 million points of faith. 100,000 apostles meant 10 million points of faith.

Altogether, Roland Phils could now collect 7.07 billion faith points per day.

Every one million faith points condensed into a strand of divine power. One hundred strands formed one unit of divine power.

By this calculation, 7 billion faith points equaled 70 units of divine power per day. To accumulate 10,000 units required about 14,285 days, which was nearly 39 years. That was the time needed to light 100 divine flames and step into the realm of a God-King.

Thinking about this, Roland could only sigh. Dozens of billions of followers seemed a lot, but in truth, it was still not enough. His journey through the endless stars had only just begun.

Deep within the cosmos, in Thanos's sanctuary, the Mad Titan sat coldly on his floating throne.

Of the Black Order, two generals had already fallen to the envoys of the Lord of Life. Only three remained, the most powerful being Ebony Maw, the strategist now kneeling before him.

"My lord, according to our intelligence, Gamora and the others are searching the galaxy for a human called Banner from Earth," Ebony Maw reported respectfully.

"Searching for someone? What are they plotting this time?" Thanos asked with icy curiosity.

"We do not know the details, but Gamora has already departed. Soon she will leave Earth's territory. Should we act now?"

"Keep watching. When the time comes, I will descend personally," Thanos answered, his voice dark and heavy.

Originally, his plan had been simple. Collect the six Infinity Stones, then erase half the life in the universe. Everything had gone according to plan, until the Lord of Life appeared.

Now his plans were in shambles. Even worse, most of the Stones had been taken by the Lord of Life. Only the Soul Stone remained.

And the only one who knew its location was Gamora.

That made her invaluable. No matter what, he would capture her.

"My lord, it is only Gamora. Surely there is no need for you to act personally. Allow me to handle it," Ebony Maw quickly offered.

Thanos's cold gaze silenced him instantly.

"If I do not act, you useless fools will never retrieve the final Stone," Thanos growled, his aura crashing down on the chamber like a storm. All around, his servants knelt in terror.

"I will claim the Soul Stone myself. As for you, I have other tasks. Fail me again, and do not bother returning."

Meanwhile, in Asgard's dungeons, Loki sat cross-legged in silence. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, gleaming with a cold light.

"So the day has finally come," he murmured, his sinister voice echoing through the dark prison.

On Earth, inside S.H.I.E.L.D.'s hidden base, Thor suddenly heard Heimdall's call. His face darkened with grief. Without a word, he transformed into a rainbow beam and shot into the sky.

Before the others could react, the Bifrost whisked him away.

"What just happened?" Hawkeye asked, stunned.

"Not sure, but judging by his face, something serious," Steve Rogers replied.

"For Thor to leave in such a rush, it must be dire. I only hope it has nothing to do with Earth," Nick Fury muttered with a tired sigh. Recent events had stretched him thin. Luckily, the Lord of Life still stood guard over Earth, or the planet would have been destroyed countless times by now.

And Fury's guess was right. Something grave had indeed happened in Asgard.

The King of the Nine Realms, Odin, had passed away.

Thor, hurrying back, was heartbroken as he entered the palace. His mother, weeping, came to meet him.

"Thor, your father is gone. He left peacefully," she sobbed.

"Mother!" Thor embraced her tightly. Though he had long prepared himself for this day, the reality still cut deep.

Before he could fully mourn, guards rushed in.

"My king, bad news. Loki... he has escaped!"

During their patrol, they had discovered his cell empty. When they entered to confirm, Loki appeared, struck them down, and walked out freely.

Thor, however, did not grow angry. He seemed almost resigned.

"Father's passing broke Odin's bindings. Loki was bound to escape. Let him go. He is still my brother. What do you think, Mother?"

His mother nodded tearfully, moved by his compassion.

"Your Majesty, Loki is cunning. If we release him, he may betray us again," Lady Sif warned.

"I believe he will not," Thor replied, though his expression wavered with uncertainty. Deep down, he could not be sure. But he was tired of fighting his brother.

While Thor mourned and Asgard reeled from Odin's death, in the far reaches of Hel, the sea roared violently. A massive black structure rose from the depths, shrouding the realm in suffocating death energy.

The Black Sword Tomb floated into the sky, transforming as a woman appeared. She wore a crown of antler-like horns and dark eye shadow, her aura both regal and terrifying.

It was Hela, Goddess of Death, ruler of Hel.

"Thousand years. For a thousand years you dared to seal me, Odin. I will have my revenge!" Her scream shook the heavens, unleashing waves of death that darkened the skies.

All the dead in Hel bowed instantly, rising as her undead army. Among them was a towering wolf, massive as a mountain, howling with excitement.

This was Fenrir, Hela's loyal mount.

Leaping in a single bound, the wolf landed before her and bowed.

"Fenrir, long time no see. You have aged," Hela said softly, a flicker of sadness in her eyes.

Once, she had fought alongside Odin, carving victories across the Nine Realms. But because her ideals clashed with his, and because he feared her growing power, Odin sealed her away for a thousand years.

Now, with his death, her prison weakened. She shattered the seal at last.

Her heart burned with hatred.

"Undead army, hear my command. March to Asgard. I will reclaim my palace and my throne!"

Her icy voice rang through Hel, and the undead howled in unison.

In Asgard, Heimdall's face darkened as he witnessed the scene through his all-seeing sight.

"This deathly aura, this rage... the prophecy, could it be beginning?"

With dread in his heart, he rushed toward Thor's palace. But before he arrived, a shadowy figure silently appeared.
