Chapter 9 - Uncertain Paths

Azure opened his eyes slowly, a sharp pain striking his head like a thunderbolt, his vision blurry under the dim light.

What happened? He turned his head slowly to look around, finding himself in a strange bedroom.

The bedroom was very simple, containing only a bed, a desk, and a wardrobe. Unlike his room, the furniture here looked simple but expensive. The wood itself seemed made of a sturdy material.

[Eve is happy that Master has finally woken up. Eve didn't know what to do if Master's life was in danger!] She spoke quickly, her voice filled with extreme worry.

"Don't worry, I think I'm fine… just this headache is very intense," he said, clutching his head, his voice weak, his fingers pressing against his temples.

[Master has a bigger problem than the headache.] Her tone was heavy with concern.

Before he could ask, he felt more whispers in his head.

"It's an honour to meet you, young man. May we ask your name?" A voice, calm and smooth, laced with aristocratic grace

"We? Who are you anyway?" Azure was shocked by the voice in his head.

The voice cleared its throat before speaking. "My mistake. It's polite to introduce oneself first. I am Vladimir Noctar, at your service."

Another sharp voice spoke with a mocking tone, scoffing. "You sound like you're begging!"

Vladimir didn't respond.

Another person? Great! Azure took a deep breath, steadying his racing thoughts."And who are you?"

The sharp voice scoffed. "You can call me Lycarius."

"And who exactly are you both?" he asked, his mind swirling with confusion.

Vladimir replied coldly, "I am the king of vampires, and this savage is the leader of a werewolf clan."

"Oh… and what are vampires and werewolves?" he asked again.

Vladimir and Lycarius fell silent, their presence a heavy shadow in his mind.

[Vampires are nocturnal creatures said to carry the blood of bat-like traits. They grow stronger at night and weaker during the day, feeding on human blood to gain strength. Werewolves are humans who transform into a humanoid wolf form, often losing control under moonlight, acting like wild beasts. Like vampires, they crave blood but prefer flesh more.]

Vladimir's silent laugh was a low, elegant chuckle, dripping with subtle mockery.

"So, there's a bat and a wolf in my head now? Great!" Azure took a deep breath before continuing. "And how did you get into my head?"

"That's something we don't know… All the savage and I remember is that we were killed, and then we ended up inside your body," Vladimir explained in a calm, refined tone.

[Eve doesn't know how they entered Master's body, but Eve is already protecting Master's body to prevent them from trying to take control.]

"Can they do that?!" Azure shouted, shocked.

Immediately after, he heard a knock on the door. "Are you awake?"

I forgot I'm not in my room! He froze, his pulse racing, unsure what to do.

[Master doesn't need to worry. They protected Master and brought him to a safe place.]

He sighed in relief after hearing that and spoke to the voice at the door. "Yes."

The door creaked open, and a girl with long red hair stepped in—the same girl he'd seen fighting alongside the monk, her fiery presence filling the room like a spark.

She smiled warmly as she approached. "You seem fine. That's good."

Azure slid off the bed and stood, bowing slightly. "Thank you for saving me."

"No need to thank me. It wasn't me who saved you, but my sensei."

"Teacher?" he said, surprised.

"Sensei found you unconscious on top of a shop with a zirga panther below the building. She killed it and saved you, then asked us to take care of you." She paused, her eyes studying him intently. "And Sensei asked us to ask if you'd like to become her disciple."

Disciple? He felt a wave of confusion, his mind still reeling from the voices within.

Seeing his bewilderment, she nodded, her fiery hair catching the dim light. "You don't want to be part of this world? You can stay safe here without worrying about your life."

Azure didn't understand anything. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, the scent of polished wood grounding him."Sorry… but I don't remember anything to even know this world."

The girl's eyes widened in shock. "You don't remember anything?! What happened?" She sat on the desk chair, her gaze locked on him.

Azure sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed, and explained what had happened since waking up in the school infirmary. Of course, he didn't mention Eve or the voices in his head.

The girl listened attentively without interrupting. After Azure finished, she began to speak.

"So, you suddenly lost your memories without knowing why. I don't think it's related to falling in the school bathroom, but you were in this world… Maybe it's a special spell or something that harmed your mind, causing memory loss." She explained her perspective slowly.

[Eve thinks her theory is about 80% correct.]

Interesting… Azure didn't say anything and just nodded.

The girl stood up. "Since you lost your memories, we'll explain this world and its rules to you. Then you can decide if you want to be the teacher's disciple or not."

Then she realised she hadn't asked his name or introduced herself. She felt a bit embarrassed."Sorry, I didn't introduce myself properly… My name is Kira. Nice to meet you." She smiled, extending her hand.

He shook her hand, smiling. "Azure. The pleasure's mine."

"Alright, come on, let's introduce you to the other disciples," she said, approaching the door.

"Disciples?" Azure gasped in shock.

Kira paused for a moment, then put her hand over her mouth, barely stifling a laugh. "I forgot to mention, the teacher only takes girls… You could say you're a special case," she said playfully, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

Azure instinctively raised his hand to his chest, as if shielding himself, his gaze wary.

Kira laughed, looking at him. "What are you doing? Don't worry, we won't assault you… maybe."

He didn't know how to respond; his expression caught between confusion and unease.

He took a deep breath and started walking behind her, his steps cautious, the wooden floor cool beneath his feet.

As he stepped out, he found a long wooden corridor, its end opening to a wider area. Doors lined the sides, each carved with intricate designs reminiscent of ancient Chinese architecture.

He followed her, examining his surroundings with curiosity. She smiled, glancing at him from the corner of her eye.

When they reached the end of the corridor, there was a spacious area—the main living room.

They reached a spacious living room, its grandeur striking. Two plush sofas, six elegant chairs, and a large central table laden with glistening sweets filled the space. A massive TV hung on one wall, and an enormous window stretched from floor to ceiling.

Azure was amazed by the design.

Kira looked at him, her tone becoming slightly serious. "Stay here until I gather the other girls. You can eat some sweets until I return."

He nodded silently, sitting on one of the chairs, looking around.

A girl approached from behind and whispered in his ear, her breath warm and teasing, "Your scent is interesting. Want to be my lab rat?"
