Chapter 17 - Threads of the Past 2

Azure was staring at Arthur in disbelief. He tried to think of many questions, but all he could ask was, "How?"

Arthur closed his eyes and covered it with his right hand to calm himself, "I don't know. I still need more time and evidence to find proof of what's happening."

He took a deep breath and opened his eye again, smiling as he shook his hand, "Anyway, what happened has happened and can't be changed. And those changes aren't bad so far. I mean, look at the situation: I'm no longer a lone child, and I have a sister now. That's great!"

Azure laughed sarcastically, "Why do you seem to change moods so quickly?"

Arthur laughed loudly, began circling around Azure while moving his hands, "It's normal. I'll explain when the time comes. All you need to know now is: you personally aren't 'normal' either. Every version of 'Azure' has its own unique."

Azure blinked as he turned to look at him. He was already annoyed by talking to him. He calmed himself and made one last request, "I want to regain my memories. I know you said you deleted them to protect me, but I'm not talking about memories from the future or the past or whatever. I want my original memories. I don't even know my family! I don't know where my home is!"

Arthur stopped smiling and stood still. His expression turned thoughtful for a moment, "That... makes sense."

"Then?" Azure asked with tension.

Arthur sighed and rolled his eyes, "Fine, I'll restore your memories. You'll get them back once you wake up again." He paused for a moment, stepped closer to Azure, and looked at him seriously, speaking coldly, "I must warn you, don't let them near the curse again. This time, they were lucky because I managed to stop it and limited the damage to inside the building. With their stupidity, at least half the city would've been wiped out. Do you understand?"

Azure nodded quickly in fear. Arthur smiled and patted Azure's shoulder, "Good. I think it's time to go back now."

As soon as Arthur finished speaking, Azure began to feel dizzy. His eyelids grew heavier. He lost control of his body and fell to the ground, unconscious, until his body disappeared completely.

Arthur stared at the spot where Azure had been, seeming to think about something.

"Why didn't you tell him exactly what we are?" A slightly sharp voice came from behind Arthur.

Arthur glanced with the corner of his eye without turning, explaining coldly, "Because it would affect him. His personality needs to 'mature' a bit before I can explain what we are without impacting his development."

The man moved and approached Arthur. He looked almost exactly like Arthur, except his hair was straight, and his eyes were a dark red.

He stood directly next to Arthur, staring at the same spot Arthur was looking at. Several minutes passed without either of them speaking.

The man suddenly spoke quietly, "What do you think he'll become?"

Arthur didn't reply immediately. After more than 20 seconds, he responded in a calm tone, "I don't know. His personality is basically one day old, but it's currently fluctuating between 'lust' and 'greed.'"

The man was surprised for a moment and laughed loudly, "Totally unexpected. But what kind of 'lust' is it?"

Arthur glanced at the man with the corner of his eye, as if looking at a fool. He rolled his eyes and explained with superiority, "Lust doesn't have to be just sexual. Azure has a strong desire, but I don't know exactly what it is yet. I'm not even sure if it's lust or greed."

The man grew angry at Arthur's tone and began to walk away, laughing sarcastically with a slightly irritated voice, "Whatever, you know more about this stuff anyway, pride."

...

Azure began to open his eyes slowly. All his senses were still extremely blurred. Old memories suddenly began to appear in his mind—memories of him as a child, with his family, at school, with his friends. His breathing quickened, and he held his head, feeling a lot of loud voices.

[Are you okay, Master?] Eve asked with a worried and tense tone.

He heard her voice with distortion. He tried to move but was surprised to find his body stuck inside something. He calmed himself and tried to focus his consciousness. His awareness began to focus again; his vision became clearer, and his hearing more normal.

He replied to Eve with exhaustion, "I'm okay. What exactly happened?"

[Eve is happy about Master's safety. Eve doesn't know exactly what happened. As soon as the machine was activated, the building started collapsing suddenly. The machine protected Master's body from the building's collapse.]

He nodded weakly. He tried to open the door, but to no avail. Great, I'm stuck! Damn it.

He started kicking the door with his foot. After several attempts, he finally broke the door. He slowly exited the machine, examining his surroundings.

All he could see was rubble and destruction everywhere. The facility, which had seemed incredibly strong, suddenly looked as if a tornado had struck it. This won't do! I can't see anything clearly.

[Eve can help with that.] As soon as she finished speaking, Azure's eyes began to glow faintly, and he could see clearly.

Azure checked the changes and looked at his body, finding he could see with great clarity, "This is amazing, Eve." His tone was genuinely happy as he praised her.

Eve felt joy and embarrassment at the same time. [Eve is happy that Master is pleased, though it's just a simple night vision from Eve.]

Azure was about to praise her again, but he suddenly heard a movement nearby. He focused on the source of the sound and found it was coming from in front of him.

His expression grew more cautious as he moved slowly forward. Eve, I want you to scan my surroundings for any living creatures nearby.

Eve nodded with a sound and began scanning. [I can't scan far, but there is indeed a living creature very close to Master. It's already approaching master from the front.]

Azure frowned. He focused on what was ahead and suddenly saw a lizard-like monster with black scales moving on two legs, rushing toward him. The monster suddenly jumped onto the wall, running on all fours to get closer to Azure.
