Just imagine.
If the battle in New York described in the diary actually happened, Loki would have painstakingly stolen the Tesseract, opened a portal, and painstakingly transported the Chitauri army over—
All to conquer New York and realize his ambitions.
Yet, on the other side of the portal awaited a massive legion of Iron Legion suits!
Loki's expression must have been absolutely priceless.
And it wasn't just the Battle of New York.
The diary explicitly mentioned that the era of superheroes would arrive—a time of chaos and madness, when threats would emerge one after another.
Humans?
Clearly, they lack the means to deal with such threats.
Logically, then, Earth indeed needs defense measures. Earth indeed needs the Iron Legion!
The only problem?
Currently, J.A.R.V.I.S.' computing power isn't enough. Controlling a few Iron Man suits is fine, but an entire Iron Legion? Impossible.
Thus, the limiting factor for the Iron Legion is AI technology.
And in the realm of artificial intelligence, Tony Stark is the undisputed authority in this world—the top expert!
But until now, even Tony couldn't upgrade J.A.R.V.I.S., so the Iron Legion had to wait.
However, this problem didn't seem to trouble Tony for long.
After all, in another universe, he—another version of himself—already created the Iron Legion.
Which means that other self solved the AI problem.
If that universe's Tony could do it, then so could he.
"Ultron Era?"
Tony's gaze fell upon this phrase, and he couldn't help but shrug.
Era?
Isn't that a bit dramatic?
It seems that the AI crisis caused by his other-universe self must have been truly catastrophic, hence the name "Ultron Era."
But one thing remained clear: that was another Tony Stark—not him.
If he, Tony Stark, studied Ultron, he would surely succeed, just as the Tony of Universe 838 did.
Unlike the Tony of Universe 199999, who failed miserably.
This was something Tony Stark was absolutely confident about.
Just like in Avengers 2, even when the first Ultron failed, he would still unabashedly proceed to create Vision.
That's just the nature of a playboy genius.
Call it blind confidence or arrogance—it didn't matter. Tony simply didn't learn lessons easily.
Even reality itself proved this, let alone diary spoilers.
Moreover, the diary didn't just mention the failed Ultron Era—it also revealed the successful version in Universe 838!
"Hydra Striker?"
"Another Iron Man?"
Nick Fury raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
Captain Carter's diary had previously mentioned a female version of Captain America.
Yet in this universe, Captain America didn't exist.
Male or female, there could only be one Captain America, apparently.
Fury let it slide—perhaps just a coincidence.
The Hydra Striker? No issue. Even if Rogers hadn't become Captain America, he still bravely fought Hydra. That made sense.
But another Iron Man?
Could it be that in Universe 838, Steve Rogers was a scientist on par with Tony Stark in every way?
Whoa! What kind of plot twist was this?
Although Fury enjoyed seeing such things, Rogers' muscle-bound physique didn't really match the scientist archetype.
Captain Carter, mutants, Doctor Strange defeating the Purple Potato Monster, Ultron…
Universe 838 was wildly different from Universe 199999.
[And Vision.]
[If Stark's Ultron plan hadn't failed, and Ultron hadn't become a villain intent on eradicating humanity, where would Vision come from?]
[Vision was created jointly by Ultron and Stark.]
[It's ironic: Stark designed Ultron to protect Earth, to safeguard it from enormous threats.]
[Yet Ultron saw humanity itself as Earth's greatest threat.]
[To maintain peace, all humans had to be destroyed. How ironic is that!]
Stone cold truth.
The Ultron Era was, without a doubt, Tony Stark's doing.
Earlier diary entries hinted at it indirectly.
This segment, however, explicitly confirmed it: the Ultron Era was Stark's responsibility.
The diary even summarized the course of the crisis succinctly.
And yes, it matched Stark's playboy tendencies.
Tony Stark created Ultron to protect Earth, but things got out of hand, and Ultron went rogue.
Nothing surprising there.
But one thing baffled him.
How did his other-universe self design Ultron's program?
Why did Ultron's "thinking" deviate so drastically—so absurdly?
How could Ultron logically conclude that humanity is the greatest threat to Earth?
It was utterly ridiculous.
Any thinking person familiar with AI would ask the fundamental question:
Robots shouldn't harm humans.
Even Asimov's famous Three Laws of Robotics stated that a robot may not harm a human, nor allow a human to come to harm.
And that was just a sci-fi writer!
Tony Stark—a top-level scientist—couldn't possibly overlook this.
He knew that whatever the other Tony coded into Ultron, the prohibition against harming humans must have been in Ultron's source code.
Embedded in its very DNA.
How could Ultron then act against its source code?
The source code for an AI is like divine will for humans—it cannot be violated.
So how on Earth did this happen?
Tony frowned deeply, unable to figure it out.
Another point left him baffled.
The diary suggested that Vision was a robot. Stark guessed it was likely his creation.
From a technological standpoint, it made sense—he had a global advantage.
The diary confirmed this—at least partially.
So now Stark was utterly confused.
He and Ultron had supposedly created Vision together?
But Ultron was intent on eradicating humanity!
And yet Vision, a superhero and future Avenger, opposed Ultron completely.
If Stark had wanted to create Vision, Ultron wouldn't have allowed it, right?
So what was really happening?
The relationship between Ultron and Vision was a tangled mess.
[No, exterminating humanity was just step one.]
[In Ultron's view, humans are merely the greatest threat, not the only one.]
[All other life forms are also threats, just not as significant.]
[To bring true peace to Earth, all life must be eliminated. Earth must become a dead planet.]
[This logic applies to Earth, other planets, and indeed the entire universe.]
[Hence, Infinite Ultron slaughters the multiverse.]
Whoa.
Tony Stark was speechless.
He desperately wanted to examine Ultron's source code to see what his other self had programmed.
Why had Ultron's logic deviated so absurdly?
To achieve "true peace," Ultron aimed to annihilate all life?
This was extreme—even if it achieved peace, what kind of peace is that?
And the diary's predictions seemed accurate—the other Tony had truly created such a ridiculous AI.
"Infinite Ultron?"
Nick Fury's eye narrowed.
Why prefix Ultron with "Infinite"?
Could Infinite Ultron be related to the Infinity Stones?
Sure, this was speculative—merely linking the prefix—but it was the only clue Fury could find.
As for the exact relationship, Fury couldn't be certain.
[Infinite Ultron is ferocious. From birth, nothing can stop him—gods and mortals alike.]
[The Avengers, a formidable superhero team, fall like lambs. Asgard? Instantly destroyed, with only Captain Marvel able to resist briefly.]
[Even she could only hold out momentarily before being eliminated.]
[Universe after universe is destroyed—a catastrophe for the multiverse.]
[Even the Observers, who watch over the multiverse, were terrified of Infinite Ultron!]
Black Widow swallowed hard instinctively.
If the diary was accurate, Infinite Ultron was terrifyingly overpowered.
The Avengers—Earth's mightiest heroes—were "like lambs"?
Even Asgard fell in a flick of a hand?
Even Captain Marvel could only resist briefly?
The diary alone was enough to send chills down the spine.
