Chapter 237 - Chapter 237 He Didn't Show Up

"As adults, why can't we just say we like or dislike!"

Su Qing knew Liu Ranran was worried about her, so she smiled and said, "I'm really fine. I'll hang up first and clean up."

Liu Ranran didn't say anything else.

But she still felt a little melancholy inside. Although Su Qing said she was fine, how could she not hear the disappointment in her words?

After hanging up, Su Qing went to the toilet, turned on the faucet, and washed her face with cold water.

In the mirror, she saw a beautiful face, her eyes cold and colorless. After wiping her face, she applied a light touch of make up, found a dress, put it on, grabbed her bag, and headed out.

After she got in the taxi, Mei Yeqin called, asking if she needed to be picked up. Su Qing declined, saying she was already in the car.

Mei Yeqin then gave up.

By the time Su Qing arrived, it was already evening.

It was already getting dark. Standing at the door, Su Qing took several deep breaths before pushing it open.

"Mom, is this the beautiful sister you were talking about?"

The child in Mei Yeqin's arms lit up when she saw Su Qing, and she eagerly slid down from Mei Yeqin's arms. The child was already four years old.

A beautiful little girl.

Su Qing paused for a moment, then pulled out the gift she had prepared from her bag.

She hadn't actually known Mei Yeqin would be taking care of a child, but she'd made every possible effort. She hadn't expected it to come in handy.

"Qing Qing, don't spend money."

Su Qing pursed her lips and smiled. "How old are you? What's your name?"

She touched the little girl's head. She was wearing a princess dress, looking at her wrist, smiling at Su Qing.

"My name is Mei Sihua."

Su Qing was stunned. She hadn't expected the child's last name to be Mei.

Pei Dai, who had gone to the toilet, returned and immediately lifted Mei Sihua into his arms.

"Little rascal, are you bullying pretty sister?"

"No, Daddy, I wasn't. It was pretty sister who asked me my name."

Pei Dai tapped Mei Sihua's nose and looked at Su Qing.

"Qing Qing, sit down."

"Yes, Qing Qing, take a seat."

Mei Yeqin also took Su Qing's arm and sat her down next to her. Su Qing pursed her lips and glanced at the table. Besides the children's tableware, there were four sets of tableware.

But it seemed he hadn't arrived yet; the seat over there was empty.

"Qing Qing, we welcome you back."

Mei Yeqin raised her glass, her eyes softer than before. Perhaps because she was a mother, they always shone with a gentle glow.

"Mom, I'll raise my glass too."

The girl in Pei Dai's arms, holding a glass of juice, smiled at Su Qing, who smiled back.

"Okay."

It had been a long time since they met, so while there wasn't a ton of strangeness, there was still a touch of awkwardness.

It was just a few people, and until dinner time, Jiang Sui wasn't there. No one mentioned it, and they enjoyed the meal in a quiet yet warm atmosphere.

Even when the party was over, Su Qing hadn't noticed Jiang Sui.

Mei Yeqin hadn't mentioned him either.

At the dinner table, they only discussed a few things, focusing on work and personal matters. Everyone seemed to have tacitly agreed not to discuss the rest.

This was fine, Su Qing thought.

She was constantly feeling uneasy, and gradually, she felt as if something was missing, a sense of emptiness.
