Ivy's POV

"It was a phrase from your father's first life. When he was killed back then, his attacker repeated those exact words, like some sort of ritual. He never forgot it. So when Reid said it this time, your dad immediately recognized it."

I slumped back against the seat, feeling the weight of resignation settle over me. "So we're just stuck waiting until everything gets figured out." The thought of this continuing made my stomach turn, but I couldn't bear the thought of risking anyone's life.

"True, but at least you'll have something to occupy your time," Grant said with a knowing smile.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, suspicion creeping into my voice.

Without answering, Grant pulled the car over to the side of the road. He got out, and I heard him rummaging around in the trunk for a few minutes before he returned with a sleek laptop bag. Once he settled back behind the wheel, he handed it to me.

"This is for you," he announced, pulling back onto the highway.
