It was a new month, and the drama had settled down, but Serena wanted to move into her own place, after searching for a bit she found a one-bedroom house, with a garden in a gated community, that was relatively peaceful, it was small and only had five rooms, a living room, kitchen, bath, bedroom, dining hall.
Plus, it was a walking distance from work and cost $500 per month, it was okay, at least for the time being she could live there, she moved there, bought her own clothes, and since the house was already furnished, she didn't need more, but she spent a whole $1,500 on clothes and food, leaving her broke, but at least she had everything she would need, for a while at least.
Soon the peace streak came to an end, she received an unexpected customer. Lance, he seriously did not know how to take a memo, each time he came he would request to see Serena, and despite being declined severally he would come everyday buy a chip then call her, but it was good for business so this time she was not so affected by it negatively in comparison to other things he did.
One day, on her way to work she was stopped by Lance, he wore a white hoodie, left his hair loose, donned dark pants and a gray jacket, he looked lax, and somehow Serena was mesmerized by the complete look.
It had been a while since they last met and Lance looked more bulked up than the last time they met, for a time it was just them, in the middle of the road staring into each other's eyes then Lance broke the silence.
"Wow, it's been a minute, and you've changed"
"You also changed"
"Is that a compliment?"
"It depends"
"You're not going to give me an answer, are you?"
"No"
"Well, some things never change" then he walked away leaving some sense of guilt within her, He was so casual but it seemed like he was broken on the inside, she wondered if he would get tired of waiting soon and just find someone, and for some reason the thought of that did not seem so welcoming.
She decided to put that on hold for now and focus on Serene Technologies, it was in its debut stage, and while it was still fresh of the block she wanted to make the most out of it and get as many customers as she could, because if she did not make use of the opportunity, her name would fade into obscurity and it would be extremely demanding to get more customer.
While working she lost track of time, and soon the sun was setting, and she had not eaten anything all day, her employees would probably get an inkling on her so she decided to go out and get some food.
She went to a fast-food station and took some hearty fried chicken, it had been so long since she got to eat something simply irresistible, despite being so unhealthy, it was practically addictive.
Later on, when she was going home, she saw Lance, again, but this time he did not spare her a second glance, he was on a skate park, teaching kids how to skate, of all things the heir to the Light corporation could be doing, but she stopped in her tracks and just admired the scenery.
He was slightly sweaty, his signature one side tucked shirt, slightly exposing his abs, it all gave suggestion to the imagination, but then someone bumped into her from behind and Lance skated to her then helped the little boy get up. She was in a reverie for minutes then was snapped out of it
"Are you okay?" Lance asked, his voice deeper than before and she just felt her tummy turn then she tried to speak but could only let out incoherent mumbles then realized he was not even referring to her. He smiled then boarded his skateboard and as fast as he arrived, he also left.
She put herself together and went on her way to her house, and there she found herself reminiscing over those little moments, how did he just go from overbearing to cool play just like that, like he was into her, but not really and somehow, she wanted to actually see how he would react if she was the one who approached him.
…
In all of Ravensville, the mayor's death was something to remember, when one walked the streets, countless people were in black, and the mist that lined the skies were gone, leaving not a trace in their wake.
The once beautiful sky was just like any other, it was confirmed that the mayor was murdered, tragically after his son had been murdered, and it was no doubt that Serena, the young entrepreneur sued by him severally was on the list of suspects.
Fortunately, the chances of her being palpable of such a crime was low, and the criminal in question left not a trace of evidence, and such an expertly executed crime seemed impossible for her who left lots of evidence from her assault cases.
This was also a driving factor in Serene Technologies' rapid sales and massive net income. And for Jack, he strangely was moving to and from the Vampire settlement at all odd hours.
Seraphina was actually becoming a promising student, who knew spending time in the woods and facing a massive heart break would be the epiphany she needed to set a foothold in the right direction.
The next day, the mayor's funeral was going to be held, and the whole town was in meek colors, natural rain clouds were in the sky, and for the fist time since the mayor won the election it was going to rain, people over the net made strange theories, saying the spirit of nature was angry.
But this day was worst for Mrs. Raven, the mayor's wife and Caspian's mother, she was British explaining her son's odd accent and disparity to his father.
Serena attended the funeral, not really happy about how the man died, he seemed like a better person than his son, but then again upon first impression his son seemed cool.
Serena wore a black overall, sunglasses a fascinator and a black pair of heels, the whole match up making her stand out due to the stark contrast it had to her light hair and skin.
She approached Mrs. Raven and gave her, the deepest condolences she could, the woman really appreciated her support during that difficult time and actually wanted her to visit her in the house, where she would have been in all alone.
But little did she know how she would come to regret that decision with time. After the funeral Serena decided to take a training session with her father and went to the mansion.
And when she walked in, like usual after every month the house had newer, more expensive decor, and design.
When she came to her room, it was cleaned out, totally empty, with a huge portrait of her, and her name, handwritten by Jack, was on the wall.
Eventually Seraphina came to meet her and asked
"Serena you're here, I have questions and need answers"
"And if I were to start asking my questions I would not finish today, but go ahead"
"Why were you at the mayor's funeral"
"How do you know about that" Seraphina took out her phone, and there were videos of her at the funeral, saying she put up an act after committing murder.
"This is where I heard it from"
"You and I both know I don't give a hoot about that, either way where is dad"
"At the Vampire Settlement"
"For what reason"
"For this one I'm just as much in the dark as you are friend"
"Really?"
"All I know is he is in trouble for killing Mr. Raven, who is also a vampire if you don't know"
"I figured that out years before you did"
"Okay, so what do you want to do, shopping spree, or GRWM, skincare, I'm literally obsessed with Social media these days"
"I'm sorry but I don't want my personal, private life on camera, let alone the media, where tons of people would have access to it"
"Breathe, relax, it was just a suggestion"
"I know what I'm going to do, but you might not like it"
"The Tapestry"
"The one in the basement"
"I just can't get it off my mind and I feel that right now I could not be more psychologically prepared to face the things in the mirror"
"It might be dangerous"
"I know that it is, but it's also a part of mom, and I feel closer to her than ever when around that mirror" her sister remained silent, "I know you feel more distant to her, so if you want, we can check it out together"
"Okay"
Then hand in hand they went to the basement, Serena removed the tapestry, and they both saw one mirror image, which was strange since they were both in the mirrors trajectory but that fact was not so surprising since it could talk as well, in that voice it asked
"You are ready, I see, now hold my hand" The image looked like it pointed out it hand, and the shape of a star was infringed into it, a four point star that glowed, in it intricately woven patterns, Serena and Seraphina both placed their hands on the mirror and for a split second, the mirror image's face turned cynical, she smiled evilly, as Serena was transported into the mirror, and outside came the mirror image and she shouted, her voice sounding like high pitch keys played in the wrong sync
"Finally, I, …, will take my revenge"
Seraphina was taken aback by the abrupt change in the atmosphere, what had they gotten into this time, it was something big, and the things this girl could do even in the mirror were terrifying, just imagining the havoc to be wreaked now she was out was appalling.
