Chapter 30 - The World in The Reflection of a Mirror

Written by **EYRAM**

Seraphina looked at the mirror image and noticed something, the girl looked like them, almost exactly, but upon closer inspection it was obvious she looked exactly like their mother in the painting the very mother they resembled uncannily.

"Diane? Who are you? Why were you in that mirror? And what have you done with my sister?"

"You're not the one who asks the questions here" she said, then Diane took out her hand and with the four-point star on it illuminating, she held it against the mirror, and it turned to nothing but just another mirror, that displayed regular reflections, then she covered it with the Tapestry, the very one Serena could not even move.

At that moment regret was her most dominant emotion, it seemed to happen so quickly, why at all could they not wait for their dad, now Serena was in the mirror and the girl in the mirror was out. Diane sneered at her and proclaimed

"You must be Seraphina, the twin who was forsaken" then she laughed and continued "Well, I have two options for you, join me and we shall have more power than any other can imagine together, we shall take revenge on Anne, and all other Starweavers and as you can tell I've already started with this one here." She gestured towards the mirror

"I have not a clue on what you're talking about"

"Want a demonstration" a wicked smile painting her lips "Have you ever wondered why Serena could remove that tapestry while you could not, well I used to be just like you, what was called an outcast for the Starweaver family, and during my time inside that mirror, I purified my blood, and I can do that for you, then afterwards you can become a true Starweaver"

"…" Seraphina was skeptical, refusing to believe anything from the woman's lips

"Are you playing dumb"

"No"

"Where is Anne?"

"She died…" Then Diane burst into laughter

"She locked me in there, was hailed like a hero, and now she is dead, well what happens when you spend your how life being the teacher's pet, that's a treatment one can get used to until they realize their lives are not theirs"

"What do you mean"

"I'm saying, your mother is alive, and she is kicking, I can see her life line, which is actually thicker than it used to be"

"Wait, what?"

"I'm going to find her, and I'll show her what pain is, but listen, I'll be coming back to you, and do not try to save your sister or both of you will have me to contend with" after saying so little she left, leaving Seraphina asking herself all the questions.

After being transported into the mirror Serena was surrounded by, nature and greenery, the sky was like a galaxy of stars intertwined with many more, there was not a glimmer of light, but she could see, just as clear of not clearer than day.

The bright illumination of the starlight all over the scenery was mesmerizing, but the place also made her feel on edge like there was some sort of danger lurking in the shadows, for a time she could see the way back tried to touch it but couldn't navigate it, until it just disappeared, she was trapped in this world, of stars.

Left with no other option Serena decided to explore the place, there was not a sign of life in all of the greenery that surrounded her. But she stopped, in front of an ancient looking structure, it looked like a castle of some sorts, with the image of a single point on a flag that was hoisted on the castle.

Upon closer inspection that single point had many intersecting lines, and it all looked ever so complicated, but then she did something one would not expect, and went right into the castle, there were broken vases, many tapestries, and there were threads, that was when she noticed an old woman, weaving a tapestry in the center of the room.

With an appearance straight out of a horror movie, with illuminated eyes, white hair that glowed, an extremely wrinkled visage and a weary old body, but within a fraction of a second the old woman looked at her and shouted, authoritatively

"What business has ye, over this sacred land, flee or shall see the plight of a star woven tapestry"

She was extremely frazzled after meeting the shockwaves from her voice, and strangely confidence welled up within her, and she asked the most prominent question she could think of,

"What is a Starweaver" looking shocked the glint in the woman's eyes turned feint.

"Serena!" she exclaimed, her hair taking a natural white, her eyes, with natural sky blue in them and her visage a whole less aged up.

"How do you know me"

"Oh, my dear, I have known you since your birth, underneath the eclipse, I wish I could have done more to help you, but the journey of every Starweaver is different, and Difficult, your seemed over the top but that could only display the greater plans they had for you"

"Who are you"

"I am your grandmother"

"How did you enter this mirror"

"I enchanted it to make a prison for my rebellious granddaughter, Diane, every generation, only one female Starweaver is given the mantle to gain the power to weave the stars, change fate, destiny. And your mom was the one, Diane, used to be the best child until this was confirmed, but once she found out, your mom, her older sister was the true Starweaver, she rebelled using unconventional methods to gain the power for herself. That was when your mom stepped in, but right now all that is in the past, I have one last thing to do before swimming in the river of reincarnation, give me your hand"

"But I have so many questions"

"I have told you what I am to tell, your mom is your teacher, not me, find her"

"But my mom is dead"

"No, she is not, she rewrote her fate, and soon the flame would reignite, but for now just give me your hand" Serena was not buying the old woman's words and felt it was a trap.

But then the old woman smiled and remarked.

"To be young and fearless, means to be naïve," then she held Serena's hand and disappeared, into sparkles. Leaving her flabbergasted then she looked at her hand, and saw the same thing on the flag intricately on her hand, and somehow, she felt at peace, not in the edge in the slightest, like she was prepared for everything,

She took some time inspecting the tapestries, one of them were of twin girls, but with a huge rip between them, and the girls in question were her and her twin, or her mom and her sister, she could not really tell.

Then on another picture was the dead doctor, and written on the tapestry was in bold words "the curse of murder" then she looked at the tapestry being woven, "a corrupted heart is never purified"

Leaving her shocked completely, like till her wits end, it all just looked so creepy leaving Serena a bit scared though, these seemed like warnings, something to scare her, then suddenly, a brick from the towers ceiling fell upon her, and she picked it up with one hand, the point on her hand dimmed, but the signs, the woven texture remained.

She looked up to the ceiling and saw it crumbling down, but felt no fear, with her mind clear and calculating she was able to think logically and easily get out without being hit even once, soon she realized this place would actually help her, maybe uncover more mysteries about a side of her family she never knew,

But on her way, she sensed, something alive, she did not sense before the point formed on her arm, her eyes turned luminous yellow and she turned to look in the direction she perceived the person following her was in, and she saw a heat signature of a woman.

She tried to follow her, but the closer she got the more this woman seemed to run. She tried speeding up but this woman had just the same speed as her, moreover it reminded her of the letter that was dropped off, the very same silhouette donned this figure.

Soon she came across another castle with a glass ceiling it did not look as beaten down as the other one, and on its apex, tower was a flag of a vertical line, that gave the illusion of a multitude of lines, it was a mesmerizing sight. But then she noticed the creature who could keep up with her speed did not use this opportunity to tag her but stood there immobile watching her, and somehow, she could tell this thing was mocking her.

Back in the outside world, Jack eventually returned home, and after hearing details from Seraphina, he was at a complete loss for what to do, he never knew much about the Starweavers in the first place and now that seemed so much bigger a disadvantage than he considered it to be.

Fear gripped his heart, he had not seen his daughter in a while and now there was the chance he would never see her, he did not know what to do, but tell Gus, an old friend and a loyal ally, one who had gained this title for his resilience during bad times, he was not a fair weather fried, he was there for him, not just at his peak but in peril, this decision warranted a round trip to the Vampire settlement but this time he took Seraphina with him, after losing one he couldn't lose the last daughter he still kept close.
