Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 10 The Night Isn’t Looking Good Right Now

["If it bothered you so much, you could have taken the rifle from me while I was sleeping."]

["Ahahaha, and face that strange animal of yours?"]

["Zeus is a dog, he just grew so big from all the love."]

Technically, he's a wolf, but she doesn't need to know that.

["Whatever you say… but you really are intimidating with that thing, you know?"]

["Intimidating? Why should you be intimidated by a weapon that can't even kill the monster that you can kill?"]

As soon as I said it, the older sister, who was sitting at the foot of the bed, climbed up to where I was lying and placed a knife millimeters from my eye. Her face was twisted in pure murderous thirst.

["Brat, you think you're so smart?"]

["Vixen, I'm 100% sure that I am."]

My smile was completed by my rifle aiming directly at her throat.

["Tsk… listen, I will really do my part. But if you dare lay a hand on my little sister, you're dead, you understand?"]

["Ohohoho, you think you can follow through on that threat?"]

["Damn brat, I don't make threats. I make promises."]

["Kekeke, not bad. I have to say, contrary to your appearance, you're pretty smart. Your damsel in distress plan was a classic. But tell me, what would you have done if instead of me, you had attracted a real lolicon?"]

["Guess, if you're so smart."]

["So, what is it?"] —my voice was barely a whisper—. ["Are you going to keep your promise or your threat? You're confusing the rat kid, kekeke."]

My smile widened as I indifferently dropped the rifle onto the bed. The light, deliberately dim to avoid attracting unwanted attention, reflected off the cold blade.

I raised my hand slowly, not to grab her wrist, but to gently press the tip of the knife with my index fingertip. I guided it downward, and her resistance was nonexistent. Her entire hand descended until it touched the bed.

["If you knew everything… then why?"] —she asked, suspicion battling with confusion on her face.

["That's very simple, sweetie…"]

I removed my finger from the knife and placed it under her chin, tilting her face towards mine. The cold metal of the forgotten weapon beside us was a silent witness.

["Because I thought it would be fun."]

Smiling like a damn maniac, I declared it to her.

["Sister, I found the favorite snacks… What are you doing, sister?"]

The younger one returned with the snacks, and the first thing she saw was a teenager being cornered by a mature woman. Her eyes were not smiling when she began her interrogation.

["It's… it's not what it looks like."]

["Brat, go to your room with Zeus. Your sister couldn't resist my manly essence any longer."]

["Sister…"]

["Th-that's not true, this is… well… it's…"]

From there, it was a one-sided massacre. "Gyahahaha," suffer, wench.

...…

The younger sister's lecture lasted for two hours. The older one was on the verge of tears as she listened to phrases like: ["Think about our family's reputation if my sister goes around with just any man."]

The best part was that every time she tried to defend herself, she contradicted herself.

["I'm not just anyone!"] —she would shout.

Only for the younger one to reply:

["Then why were you on top of him in his bed?"]

["That wasn't what it looked like!"]

["Then what was it?"]

["…Well, it was what it looked like… BUT NOT HOW YOU THINK!"]

I happily ate snacks while watching the show. This was premium live television.

"Grrrr."

["Zeus?"]

As I was enjoying myself, Zeus went under the bed and growled. Not a whim, not an annoyance; it was a growl that emphasized a clear warning, that something had gone to shit.

["Besides… Oh? Sister, look, another person."]

["Huh? Oh, you're right."]

They both went to the window to look.

["Let's call her, o—… um?"]

["What do you mean, 'um'? UMMMM!"]

"Suuuuuu."

Before the younger one could scream, I turned off the light and covered her mouth as I joined them to watch in hiding. I did the same to the older one, who was about to complain.

["Don't you dare say a word… Let's just watch for now,"] —I whispered to them as I forced us into hiding.

The figure was motionless under a flickering streetlight at the end of the road. You couldn't tell if it was a man, a woman… or something else.

Suddenly… "blink." It had advanced three houses. Still out of the light, but much closer. The nearest streetlight was now the only one flickering.

Again: "blink." Now it was in the neighbor's garden. And… no, it wasn't human.

It looked more like gray clay in a human shape.

The sisters clung to my clothes as the thing observed the giant rat that was still banging on the neighbor's door.

The creature moved in a breath towards the rat.

"CRACK, CRACK, crack."

"¡GRIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

A second later, the rat was already dead. I didn't even see it move… I swear it was like a damn cheap magic trick: I blink and it's in another place;

I blink again and the rat is no longer a living being. It hadn't been torn apart; it looked… beaten to a pulp…

And of course, as if that wasn't enough, five other creatures appear surrounding the corpse, while three more plant themselves in the garden as if they were charging admission for the show.

The three of us froze solid, as if being statues was going to do any good.

["UMMMMMMMMMMMMM!"]

Suddenly, all the creatures looked directly at our window.

I dragged the sisters back with me, and we fell to the floor. I felt the trembling of their bodies against mine, the heat of their silent tears soaking my shirt.

The fear was almost tangible. Is this what they call having a flower in each hand? I can't even enjoy it. A wet warmth ran down my legs… and no, it wasn't just them. There were three victims here, understood?

I pressed their heads against my chest, stroking them as I whispered:

["Shhhh…"]

They understood, and muffled their sobs against me.

…Damn it. Now I can't send them to their room.

Mental note: next time, buy group-sized diapers.
