Chapter 54 - chapter 54

Laura tells them to follow her quickly, and they do so.

Laura tells Clad to let them go and get healed up by her team, which consists of ex-soldiers, members of her gang, rebels, and a healer from a nearby church.

Clad looked around as he saw the red interior and multiple stone statues, with wooden stairs that led to what seemed to be a room full of people, chatting and laughing as they sang with alcohol bottles in their hands.

"This is the main area where most of our members hang out if they aren't fighting for our lives."

Ohhhh

"That's pretty cool for a secret base," Clad said as he continued to look around.

Laura tells the four of them to join their group meeting in 30 minutes.

"Huh?"

"But we are not even part of your group," Adonis said.

"Well, it isn't the time to care about such things right now." She replies as she walks down the stairs to drink alcohol with the rest of her group.

"Y'all want to drink too?" Adonis asked them.

"No." The three of them said in unison as he was left speechless, as he thought they would be into alcohol, but seemed to have guessed wrong.

"Oh, y'all don't drink?"

"My bad," Adonis said as he walked towards the main hall, joining the others in drinking.

"Adonis is not an alcoholic, right?" Jill asked with concerns about him drinking.

"I hope not," Clad replied.

Around 30 minutes later, Laura and a few members of her group are in a room with thick metal walls and a round metallic table at the center. There were 2 other men in the room, one of them being a priest named Pierott who had a calm smile on his face as he waved at the four new people in the meeting, and the other being Laura's right-hand man, Swan.

His overall appearance stood out as he was the only man wearing a completely white suit with a black tie and a white hat in the room, with round glasses to match.

With that, Laura commenced the meeting. She talked about how the citizens have been brainwashed by the Rat King to do his bidding, but Clad says that on a personal standpoint, his goal doesn't make any sense because "what could you gain from destroying your own kingdom", and believes that the King is working for someone greater.
