Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Playing Doctor

After leaving my house, I made my way to school, placing the push up in my mouth while walking. I let my mind wander, I have been in this world for almost ten years, currently it was almost trainer season.

During my years as Eris had said, I did have some control over water that the more I practiced the better I could manipulate it. Along with that, I have experimented with my own body, like the inklings in Splatoon I could hide in any body of ink or water in this case, where water could go I could go.

If I consciously focused on the water in my body I could expand or shrink the size of my body, so now I don't have to worry about dieting, or my height, or other sizes of things. It was weird since aside from water I didn't need to eat as I could just get rid of my stomach but eating was what I considered one of the benefits of life and I refused to give it.

Something fun I could do is if I focused externally is that I could be a discount water bender however there was a reason I called myself a discount bender because the water had to come from somewhere.

The first time I tried to create a cup of water it came from my left leg, due to the sudden surprise of losing balance I smashed head into my bedroom wall splashing the water that used to be my face all over my wall.

Eventually after more experimenting I figured out that if I wanted to do anything external I had to be near another body of water.

With my pondering and popsicle over I finally came into view of the school gate, as I approached I heard a rumbling sound that was steadily increasing in volume, giving a sigh of exasperation I moved a little to the left before the blonde bullet could smash into me.

"Oh hi Hikari bet I can beat you to the classroom, loser owes the other five bucks", I heard from the blonde blur as he passed me, I could only wonder how in the world he could say that all in one breath without stopping.

After a few more minutes walking, I was about to enter the classroom when I saw from the corner of my eye the blonde blur from earlier, Barry sprawled out in the middle of the hallway, thinking to myself, should I be the better person by helping him or be petty?

I choose to be petty then help him. First I walked into the classroom, then took a quick drink from my water bottle and put my backpack in my seat, then and only then did I finally move to help Barry.

Walking out of the classroom while getting some weird looks from the other kids, I made my way towards Barry.

Barry was an interesting kid to say the least, he wasn't the smartest kid but certainly was the loudest, he always wore an orange and white striped jacket with a green scarf around his neck that was worn like a tie, he was also the thickest skull kid I had ever met, I'd bet all my money that if I swung a baseball bat at his head the bat would break before his skull.

Looking down at him I realized he was sporting a Pancham eye in his left eye, and wasn't conscious, "so there is a brain in there", I muttered.

Deciding to move him over to the side of the hallway against the wall, so that he wasn't in the middle of the hallway. Now in my magnanimous, and gracious mind there was only one solution that I could think of to wake Barry before Mr. Curtis came to start the class in fifteen minutes.

"Ohhhhh, Barrrrrry! Time to wake uuuuupppp"

slap

"rise and shine, stubby!"

slap

"wake-up"

slap

"up and at 'em"

slap

"Fine, I guess I'll keep doing this until I see some results."

"Wai!!!"

slap

Midway through another round of bitch slapping Barry my method worked, he woke up, while he was still on the floor clutching his now red cheeks. I got up and started speaking "ah you're awake, now due not having any insurance, medical fees come to about a gazillion dollars."

Barry now regaining his senses abruptly shot up, "what do you mean a gazillion dollars?! All you did was hit me!" he shouted at me, while giving me an accusatory pointing finger.

Hearing him I shrugged, "I don't know what you want from me, I gave you the whole package, I moved you from the middle of the hallway, to against this wall, meaning a transportation fee, along with that I was with you the whole time while I administered treatment, heck I'll even give you a band aid but that will cost extra."

"What do you mean with these fees?! You literally just moved me two feet, you're just trying to scam me Hikari?"

"What do you mean, I helped wake you up? Now come on we have to get to class, oh and by the way you owe me five bucks."

"Why do I owe you money?" Barry said while walking with me to the classroom.

"You forgot? You said that whoever beat the other to class would get five bucks from the loser, and before I helped you I put my stuff down in my seat."

"What, you're so mean Hikari", by now we had entered the classroom, "also why didn't any of you jerks help me?!" Barry shouted while addressing the class.

"Because you had it coming!" Everyone, even the normally quiet ones yelled back at him causing him to jump back in fright .

Aside from Barry there were four other stand out kids in this class, first there was Noah, he had short shoulder length darker orange hair, eyes as green as grass, was a little taller than me by about two inches.

Noah was your usual friends with everyone kid, one that could make even the quietest person open up and have a conversation with him.

Speaking of quieter kids there was Kyra, Kyra had long ebony black hair, she always had an oversized black hoodie on, wore darker eye shadow, a look that screamed emo, or in the pokemon world ghost type trainer.

Kyra did have a quieter personality until she felt more comfortable around you then she opened up, leading everyone who didn't talk to her much to just call her spooky.

Kyra was also the only kid in the class to have her own pokemon, a mischievous Misdreavus. An easy way to get the normally reserved Kyra to open up was to talk about ghost types, that was originally how we had started talking and became friends.

Last but not least there were the twins, Lucas and Dawn. Lucas was a kind boy, very enthusiastic about pokemon, he had short dark blue hair, wore a red beret, like Barry, Lucas wore a scarf like a tie around his neck but instead of green his was red.

Dawn, like Lucas had a red scarf around her neck but it was shorter. Dawn, also like Lucas, had dark blue hair. Unlike Lucas hers reached just past her shoulders and unlike the rest of the class she wanted to become a pokemon coordinator.

Inspired by her mom, while the rest of us all wanted powerful pokemon, she wanted cute, and flashy pokemon. Dawn was a nice person but could be stubborn at times, she and Kyra frequently bickered over what they both considered "cute" pokemon.

----

One time when we were hanging out at Dawn's house, messing with her mom, Johanna's Glameow, listen life's too short to not rage bait a cat. I picked up the cat and now with no where to escape we constantly kept rapidly rubbing her fur, at first Glameow pretended it didn't bother her. But after a while of this continuing to happen she cracked first.

While Glameow knew she could easily use a move to escape, she didn't want to hurt us, only taking playful swipes at us, while loudly starting to meep trying to get Johanna's attention from the kitchen.

While this was going on we were all giggling at Glameow, despite the sad state glameow was in now, this cat wasn't simple. It was Johanna's partner and victor in multiple in pokemon coordination contests.

Looking down, Dawn smiled down at Glameow, then glanced up to look at a nearby shelf, where there was a picture of her younger mother with glameow holding a trophy.

"Some day that will be me."

"You know Dawn", Kyra said while pausing her petting of the increasingly agitated cat, "if you had a ghost type you could use their illusions in your performances."

Hearing that Dawn's face scrunched up, seeing Dawn's face, Kyra reacted, "What's that supposed to mean?!"

Dawn realizing her face didn't hide her feelings could only sheepishly rub the back of her neck, "Sorry Kyra, while I like ghost types, I would prefer something cuter like a Pichu, or a Pachirisu."

At her words, Kyra's voice turned heated, "What do you their not cute?! There's Mikiyu, Shuppet, rotom-" Before she could continue her rant Johanna walked in, seeing her I let go of Glameow allowing her to escape and hide somewhere in the house.

From Kyra's side there was a flash of light and Misdreavus appeared then just floated next to Kyra, staring right at her.

"What?"

Misdreavus continued staring

I started laughing, "out of the ghost types you named you didn't say Misdreavus!"

Dawn also started laughing with me, "so Kyra, is your partner cute?"

Refocusing back onto Misdreavus, Kyra gave her one look then did a so, so gesture with her hand, "ehh, not really, I think she's more hideo- oof!?"

Before she could finish Misdreaus smashed a pillow into her face.

That day Dawn learned that while ghost types aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they sure are the funnest to be around.

---

Looking from our current point of view as of right now, Lucas, Dawn's twin brother had the brightest future compared to the rest of the other kids, he recently became the lab assistant to Professor Rowan.

When Kyra first showed us her Misdreavus Lucas was the first to bombard her with questions, stars practically shining in his eyes this naturally startled Kyra making her hide in her hoodie turtle style until we all coaxed her out mainly with me and Noah's help.

But that's another story, going back to the present, the normally cheerful Noah just gave Barry a tired look, "you constantly run as fast as you can then smash into people, you tasting payback was bound to happen sooner or later Barry, especially for what happened yesterday".

Barry for his part just looked confused, "What did I do yesterday?"

This time it was Lucas who spoke, "Yesterday you smashed into Kyra, causing her to land on her lunch bag and crush it's contents, well Barry guess what was also in the bag? Misdreavus's pokemon treats".

At this the Misdreavus in question was happily eating her treats while leaning on a heavy looking hydroflask, seeing us looking at her Misdreavus looked Barry dead in the eye as she popped the next treat into her mouth.

The thing was, I knew for a fact that, Kyra doesn't like using hyroflasks, she said they were too heavy and constantly unbalancing her, "so let me get this straight, Barry pissed off Misdreavus, and she brought a hydroflask for Barry to run into?"

"Yup" was the class's response, "alright kids cut the chatter, it's time for class" the man of the hour Mr. Curtis finally showed up. Me and Barry hurried to our seats, Barry still grumbling while I was holding back from laughing at him, midway through the lesson Barry slid me five bucks when Mr. Curtis wasn't looking.
